Invaders get double overshield allowing them to sponge supers, matchmaking teams you with morons while you get a 4 stack trashing you followed by teabags and Bungie said Gambit is loved by the playerbase, Bungie is completely out of touch with the community.

36 RepliesPeople hate gambit because they go in expecting something that isn't compatible with the game's design. 1. Gambit's PVP is based on the unbalanced, open-world PVP that you see in MMOs and RPGs. Not the balanced, combat most shooter gamers are used to. 2. Gambit's play is very strategic and is VERY unforgiving of players not understanding the rhythm of play, or using non-optimal strategies. Especially if you're going up against a well-coordinated team who is good at both. One team wipe at first invasion can put a team in a hole that they cannot get out of, and by the time you're recoviring from the first team wipe...you're getting invaded a second time. 3. The PVP in Gambit is NOT designed so that a 1v1 is a "balanced" contest. Its tuned so that the lone invader has a fighting chance going up against a team with 4v1 advantage....and may be mounting a coordinated defense against that lone invader. 4. When played with good players who understand the game, and are serious about trying to win? Gambit is a lot of fun. But when you get paired with blueberries, or people who are just occupying space while they fill bounties? It can be sheer torture. 5. There are ways that if you run primarily solo, you can maximize your odds of winning....and make the pain of getting stuck with a poor team more bearable. I can let you in on them if you're intrested. I earned the Dredgen title...and Gilded Dredgen last season running solo (which means that I have completed "Protect The Runner" with a group of randoms....multiple times).

Edited by Merc: 6/13/2021 9:30:18 AMGambit is my favorite thing about D2 right now. Randoms can be awful and ruin the entire thing. I despise players who go into it without any care of winning just to complete their bounty quota. It truly ruins the experience for players who are intent on competing and winning. I disagree that invaders have “too much” in terms of an over shield. There have been many times I’ve invaded and been taken out by a 1 or 2 tap. Tea bags are an issue? Really? It’s something that doesn’t have any effect on the match. Ok, that’s not true, it waste the time and resources of whoever is doing it. Gambit does have some issues. Motes still fall into the ground. Enemies still don’t spawn properly. Ammo economy can be brutal at times, even with mods. All enemy types should be an option on all maps. A few things (rules?) for playing as I saw someone else comment. 1. Banking first IS usually a bad idea if you aren’t facing a stack. Do not bank after wave 1. 2. You don’t need 15 motes to bank. I’ve seen so many players take 11 motes to a new section trying to be greedy when only 2 motes are needed for a portal. 3. Unless you are planning to invade, do not take the first heavy. 4. If you have a sword or anarchy for the boss, do not take heavy. 5. Invaders will spawn at the area without adds and with the least amount of players (sometimes it doesn’t work properly). 6. Don’t pop your super immediately when the Prime+envoys spawn 7. When loading, inspect the players to see if there are stacks and check weapons+supers.

1 ReplyGambit is fun, but we need new maps. Why didn't Europa get a Gambit or PVP map?

Witherhoard Gridskipper Swarm Adept Have ammo finder mods. The only thing left is too. GIT GUD!

Still better than crucible

Tbh the game mode isn’t really as bad as the people u get teamed up with. For example your team has enough to do the first invasion but you get 2 randos trying to get the 15 motes just for the other team to invade and get killed. From my time playing it people just lack common sense.

18 RepliesSome people like Gambit. Some people hate Gambit. Just because you don’t like Gambit, that doesn’t mean everyone doesn’t like Gambit. Stop posting after a loss. 🧂

2 RepliesKeep practicing. I guilded my Dredgen title again entirely on random matchmaking.

1 ReplyLet me guess, the whole team was trash and you carried the team as best you could?

It’s horrible

It’s either a win or you get completely steamrolled

My only real issue with gambit balance-wise is that invasions have a tendency to snowball, effectively deciding the match before anyone’s even summoned their primeval. The real issues imo are just the mode’s lack of content. It’s been >600 days since we’ve gotten new maps, and despite being a core game mode, it has no equivalent to the Glory playlist/Nightfalls and Trials/GMs.

So there is nothing to do about four stacks. But matching could be improved. Example. Lobby of two teams of two an four random. Matching puts two teams together against four randoms instead of one team on each side. Players not knowing what to do. Example. Invader enters. I find a spot where I can crouch with a scout or fusion and watch for invader. Teammates. Stand around out in the open waiting to get killed, especially when boss is out.

9 RepliesEdited by Mikoto: 6/12/2021 3:04:33 AMUnderstand the game mode is all your team needs Rule number 1 - Do not bank first. Rule number 2 - Understand how large, Medium and small blockers interact with each other. Rule number 3 - Envoys have Void shields (Tah to SirEman80 For correction. I was thinking of the envoys in the planetary event ) and when you kill envoys you get damage buff on the primival. Rule number 4 - Get a basic idea when the invader shall be coming and try to bank motes before that occurs. Rule number 5 - know where invaders spawn and get ready to hunt them - get in their face with a shotgun. Rule number 6 - Have a heavy or special weapon that can do damage overtime on the primival whilst you are avoiding the invader.

Matching is the same in pvp

Use symmetry. Even at like 9x dynamic charge it 3 taps invaders in its revolution mode, and has incredible tracking. At max stack it 2 taps and it can even 4 tap envoys, which is incredible for just a primary weapon.
