I understand the gun's range is very powerful from the hip, but DMT being the only exotic that can stand up to the other guns in trials does not mean it needs to be nerfed.
Yes, it did well on the weekend kill summary, but the map for the week favored the DMT's range. The last weekend has similar stats for the Fellwinter and nothing is going to be changed about it. 120 rpm hand cannons, Fellwinter's, and other shotguns have been dominating PVP for a very long time and nothing has been done about them. A new exotic scout rifle is released that is able to compete with the current reigning champion weapons and before the meta can really settle back down or react to the change, the weapon is getting nerfed.
This is all completely ignoring the fact that none of this has any bearing on the gun's use in PVE where it is the only kinetic scout rifle to see any real use at all. In PVE, even though DMT has a long reload time, it is extremely flavorful, feels good, and is fun to use. It has a substantial following that is all going to be pretty hurt to see it nerfed especially if as usual it is nerfed into the ground.
I don't want to see such a fantastic gun become another vault exotic that never sees use. I think that the amount of data we have on its performance is too small, and the meta has not had time to react and change to the presence of the gun. It is ridiculous that the DMT is the only exotic that can compete as a primary with all of the other guns in trials in the first place. What is the point of exotics if they are not good guns? Further, the DMT still requires some RNG to get a good roll to make it harder to get, it deserves to be usable with all of the factors going for it, and it shouldn't be the only usable exotic in the first place. If despite all of this, Bungie still thinks the DMT needs to be nerfed, I have a proposition.
Recently the game made some changes to the stasis subclasses that only took place in PVP. If the gun is going to see nerfs, please have the nerfs only to PVP. Save the Dead Mans Tale.
Edit: As many have pointed out, Polaris Lance is a good scout rifle as well and is better than DMT in many situations. Because of this point, I have changed it to only kinetic scout rifle. I apologize that I had not heard about Polaris Lance being good and had not had the chance to try out Polaris Lance before this thread.

The fact that you can just float around and hipfire that thing and get kills in pvp is so stupid . considering you can not put icarus on any exotic . somehow this has it built in ????

I was using Night Watch until Hung Jury released, now I use that. I still use Trustee, and Royal Chase, and Eternal Blazon. And now I use Vision of Confluence too. They’re all solid for shield coverage and barrier champs in nightfalls.

10 Replies>Only Scout Rifle useful in PvE Night Watch with Explosive Rounds: *exists*

Edited by Blueberry Bot: 6/14/2021 2:12:48 AMSooo pretty sure the nerf was directly because pvp players are abusing it on m&k. Funny enough if your on console they stated you won’t feel the nerf nearly as bad due to AA It’s getting the last word treatment. Edit imma slide in here that I’ve used both in their prime and they could balance it separately sure but they won’t. Lol look at stasis a lot of “separate nerfs” leaked to PVE as well!

Thanks PC, as always

Edited by LazyKB: 6/12/2021 11:52:27 PMI can't wait for it to get nerfed honestly. It pays you to botwalk and click over and over with one of the best TTKs at any range with no recoil, and infinite aim assist drop off distance.
-
3 RepliesIt’s not the only kinetic account worth using in PvE...Night Watch is a far better choice, not to mention it doesn’t take up an exotic slot. I’d question people’s mental state if they’re using DMT over that, especially in a grandmaster nightfall scenario.

Yeah Gambit scout would like a word with you.
-
I use the gambit one all the time.

20 RepliesPvP is why PvE can't have nice things.

I have a feeling that it's mainly popular on pc. On Xbox, while I will see one every couple matches, I tend to see exotics like crimson, last word, chaperone, and le monarqe much more than dmt.
-
28 RepliesYou know the protocol - if it gets popular, it gets the nerf
-
3 RepliesIf they nerf it it will most likely have more severe damage falloff when hip firing it as it stands currently there's no down side to using the hip fire over ads and I assume it's more emphasized on pc compared to console. I tend to doubt bungie will nerf its damage output and if they do it will only be noticed in its hipfire damage.

4 RepliesI didn't bother to read your whole post so sorry if I'm missing something, but I just want to say, I don't agree with the idea that something that's too strong shouldn't be nerfed because others of its class are weak. They should nerf dead man's a bit, and then buff scouts as a whole.
-
4 RepliesYeah, no. If 120s are overpowered, and DMT out performs all of them on pc, and all but one on all platforms, I think it needs a nerf. You cant call 120s overpowered and then not call a weapon that does better perfectly fine. DMT has incredible aim assist, one of the best damage perks in the game, plus no hip fire penalty while increasing fire rate. Along with being able to roll incredibly strong perks.
-
dear god they need to nerf that gun
-
Played with it one game, got a 2.57 efficiency, thing is easy af to use lol. Just another crutch people are scared to lose
-
Dont worry...its a M/K nerf. Meaning the hitbox will be nerfed.
-
I didn’t know people hip fired the gun. Seems like the fun is in a great spot to me at least
-
I never use it, don't care, bungo do your worst! 😂
-
1 ReplyEveryones just mad dmt can compete and beat the garbage 2 tap 120s, handcannons are the real problem nerf them and buff all the other primaries so the gun play isn't limited to 120s and shotties
-
17 Repliesim really surprised theyre nerfing this. i see people use this only once in a while.
-
9 RepliesAs long as this gun exists in its current state, literally every other scout will never matter full stop. Scouts in general need a buff no arguments there but dmt does everything a primary could plausibly want and then it does it at every range ads or not. Interesting gun that’s fun to use but it needs some reigning in
-
I agree with the sentiment of not touching it in PvE, we've seen them separate the sandboxes for other weapons and they can again if they take their time with it. As for shotguns and hand canons never being touched, if they are they'll have very loud voices screeching at them.

5 RepliesSince the crazy idea of balancing weapons seperately for pvp and pve isn't something bungie seems to like, you gotta agree that DMT is the most annoying trashcan weapon that takes zero skill in pvp. That thing needs to go, theres plenty other options for pve. Not to mention that you are in the minority of people who actually use that annoyance in pve. Stop being selfish, the vast majority of players use it in pvp, meaning it needs adjustements due to its main purpose. PVP. Crazy right? "Save the most niche pve weapon there is because i am selfish and don't care about others who suffer from this op weapon in pvp. My personal pve experience is more important". -> Here, i gave you a new title.
