Champion mods need to be looked at!

I want to start this with - I’m a fan of the champions, the mod system and the frequency of which they’re used. I don’t mind having an enemy who takes something a little different to kill, in fact I enjoy it. I also really like the fact Bungie change which guns can be used against them each season. It’s refreshing to use different weapons that I wouldn’t normally go for. For example, I don’t like Scout Rifles - not because of their damage or need for a buff but because they’re an incredibly boring weapon to use. However I wouldn’t have used Dead Man’s Tale anywhere near as much as I have done without the champion system. I’m glad because it’s actually a really cool gun and hits like a truck. My issue with the champion mod system is that it’s almost always primary weapon focused. I know GL are included but that’s for one champion type - any activity that doesn’t have unstoppable champions almost requires me to use two primary weapons. The grenade and melee mods are fine and should stay because they offer another way to diversify our load outs but instead of picking one special weapon each season to stagger champions why not introduce a system where there are less mods but each mod offers two different options. You could have anti-barrier scout or sniper, overload hand cannon or fusion rifle and unstoppable sidearm or grenade launcher. It would give players more freedom in how they want to set up while still keeping the intention behind champions intact. There will still be some players who run double primary weapons, good for them but I like matching weapon types together to cover multiple aspects of the game. The thought of pairing a sidearm and hand cannon together in a nightfall is frighteningly unappealing. I really hope Bungie look into giving us a little more flexibility next season. Also, can you get Banshee to sell bounties that are generally relevant to the seasonal weapons!

  • I'd rather Bungie actually make GM's worth running. Old D1 guns but with Adept written on them isn't enticing and I haven't needed masterwork items since the start of undying.
