edit*3(From my reading, I'm seeing that a lot of people saying this is not an issue are not actually reading my post. Please actually read it and then post your opinion. And keep it civil please.)
Because of the Sherpa Emblem, there is a rising amount of predatory players who are just teaching Atheon for blueberries or carrying them through. That leaves them with a clear, making it harder for them to find a full raid sherpa. Most sherpas aren't doing it for much other than their joy of teaching or the small tracker on their emblem. While the emblem did introduce many more sherpas, it also increased the amount of low quality sherpas and carries.
In the end, these players are stuck either trying to find another sherpa, or attempting to enter KWTD groups with minimal knowledge. This puts the mass of "1 clear refugees" into the hands of sherpas who are doing it for purely goodwill, not even a number on their tracker. Sherpas do not run these goodwill runs very often and they are far and few in between.
In conclusion, while carries will always exist as an issue, changing the emblem to require full clears (which might not even be trackable at the moment) would greatly reduce the amount of predatory behavior going on. Players are taking away 10 players' learning chance for an emblem they probably only want for collections and will stop wearing in a week.
The even most conclusive solution would be some in game pop up that clarified how important it is to get a proper first clear if they want to learn the raid through LFG. I contacted a moderator in D2 PC LFG discord (one of, if not the largest LFG on PC), and they said they could not do anything about it and that it is a Bungie issue. They told me they cannot set up a message informing players, and that even a sherpa posting that information would be considered spam.
With all these convoluted rules throughout different outlets, solving this issue becomes complex, and the only ones that are suffering are the naturally naïve new raiders wanting to learn the raid through a sherpa run.

Personally I think the "with zero clears" is the biggest problem of this whole thing. If you want to make this an actual reward for helping people learn a raid, then it should have been for people with 5 or 10 clears or less for lets say like 50 times. This is nothing but a carry reward that helps newer people learn nothing and doesn't incentivize veterans to actually help newer players learn anything at all. Not all sherpas are bad don't get me wrong. But there are far more emblem chasers than actual people willing to teach.

1 ReplyDo I agree with your premise? Yes. Do I think it matters? No.

1 ReplyBro, get a life.

Is a checkpoint clear just skipping half the raid and doing the boss?
-
Is it a good idea? Yes Is it a issue? No

I did vog in D1 and haven't even done any raid in D2 because the people in this game are beyond ridiculous. It's really sad.
-
1 ReplyI think it’s a slight inconvenience to a small group. I’ll agree that people who do “Need 0 clears on Atheon KWTD” posts are stupid and smelly the Sherpa emblem still gets the newbies playthroughs and what not.
-
How is this an issue? There are plenty of people doing full clears and not just atheon
-
I dont do this at all and i love teaching what i know in a raid. I take people through start to finish showing them the mechanics, show them the hidden collectables and chests. And all around want people to finish. No matter how many wipes we go through im gonna guarantee a completion and refuse to leave. The only exception to the last bit is if everyone is tired and wants to go. I cant make that choice for them. But if their is still plenty of people left in the group ill grab my roomate or a buddy to help us through that section. People that simply teach Atheon and thats it are doing a disservice to alot of players for thier first run through.

1 ReplyIt should literally be up to the player they are carrying. When I do Raids I hate it when I'm invited to GateKeeper or Atheon. I want a fresh Raid so I can hit all chests and get all spoils. So if a player is willing to go straight to Atheon then well so be it, but to the average person does it really matter? Honestly I don't think it should.

Not a big problem but its there. One of the people in a group I did it with on PC (normally raid on console with main group) said he somewhat knew things with 3 clears and outright said the sherpa was pretty lazy and that he was over that kind of thing. So I can from personal experience of someone telling me and then being the person who has to properly teach, that this issue does exist. Would be nice for some sort of resolution at some point but not a priority.

4 RepliesI disagree and think that changing would be harmful. I myself have joined 3 or 4 different teams of new people that got stuck at atheon and have helped them beat it and that single encounter has taken more time than most other encounters in the raid. What youre saying is i should be joining these posts and telling these teams of new people that hey im after an emblem so reset all your progress or i wont help

1 ReplyI don't think it's an issue. Those people would only do the same thing of "Just sit back and we'll deal with it all." and only teach what absolutely needs taught. They're the same people that would demand an obscene amount of clears + certain weapons to actually join their raid anyway. Making the requirement larger or different won't change this.

3 RepliesEdited by RonnieOP: 6/7/2021 11:24:15 PMI honestly dont see why anyone would care about this. None of it means anything. You are blowing this way out of proportion. Nobody is taking anything from anyone. Everyone agrees to be part of it.

2 RepliesWell considering total clears literally kean nothing and groups that require it are usually bad, It's not an issue in the slightest.

2 RepliesWow - imagine being elite about a 7 year old raid.

1 ReplyHere’s the simple answer of why it’s not an issue. They don’t tie it to guided games so why do fresh? Also it’s for an emblem, not anything actually worth going through the trouble. Don’t get me wrong I’m fine with helping competent players through full clears but there is seriously no reason to do it. This has been a guided games issue for years now. There is no incentive for Sherpas. Maybe if we got double loot if it was a guided game run or extra materials or bright dust then maybe. Right now, it’s too much effort for no reward.
-
1 ReplyTbh, Sherpa rewards should be locked to guided games (without and without the clan thing) requires all of the same stuff and has all of the same penalties etc. Would definitely revive that system and prevent -most- of these cruddy people from getting rewarded something like that.

I have officially 1 full clear and 2 partial clears with a side of cheddar

Emblems shemblems

6 RepliesI couldn't finish reading your elitist crybaby whinnying. For the first time in this game, I finally see posts to help fellow guardians. Love the "O clears" posts. Truth be known, I only join the ones that are teaching b/c they are not TOXIC! Newbies actually do a great job; takes longer, but who cares! After all, isn't Bungie's CoC all about being nice and friendly? UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!

I use the emblem as a sign that if people need extra info or strategy tips I’m happy to give it.

How do you know your progress?

39 RepliesRaid.report is the worst thing to happen to raids. It just breeds toxicity.
