Boots of the assembler, let's talk.

So hear me out. As a warlock main since launch of D1 I must say I have always wanted to play a support class. One of the things that attracted me to the game and made me follow all the news was the fusion of a shooter and an rpg(mmorpg). From the first time I played ff or wow or any of the uncountable games, my wheel house has always been watch my teammates and make sure they stay alive. Now when the boots of the assembler released I flipped. I was like damn Lumina well lock here I come! And it was great! I wasn't slaying out, I wasn't saving every guardian but I felt like I wanted to feel playing the support role. And for the most part nobody was complaining about the exotic or its interaction with Lumina. Then the patch happened and damn. For real why? To make a solo exotic which no one used feel less useless than it was? An easy fix would be make it so that if your wearing the boots when you pop a new rift your old one leaves. The nerf feels really uncalled for and also such a step back in what seems to be its original purpose. Pre nerf it gave the game a support build that is viable and not game breaking. It's not like it was making crucible or any raids a cake walk. I honestly just question the entire reasoning behind it. Just want to put my 2 cents out there and see what the general consensus is. Eyes up guardians hope this finds you well!

  • honestly it's perfect for the raid when your holding open Mars or Venus, the seekers are aggressive. I'm glad I got one and tried it out. Works in your solar big well as well.

There is an old saying: In every conflict there is the **topic** that gets argued about...and then there is the **issue** that is the real source of the problem. Making Sanguine Alchemy more relevant, whether or not BOTA was overpowered or not (it was when combined with Lumina), are all just **topics**. The real issue is that the game's networking couldn't handle strain that mutliple warlocks using multiple Rifts with BOTA would have created. The game has to track all those objects in real time, and you eventually create a processing load that the game can't handle....and the game crashes Guitar error. We know because the game went through this about 2 years (?) ago when players were creating so many Orbs of Light during raids that they'd crash the game. Bungie tracked down the problem. Reduced the amount of orbs players were making, and reduced the time they hang aroudn (its why motes in Gambit and Override also disappear pretty quickly) ... ....and it solved the problem. ...and remember this was done by simply too many orbs **SITTING ON THE GROUND.*** Not hoving in the air and seekign out fast- moving Guardians like heat-seeking missiles. So while I understand your passion, this is ultimately a moot point. The nerf had to happen so that the game could run properly and reliably. Bungie has a habit of trying to spin things that get forced on them (usually by the limitations of their tools) as if its something that they purposely choose to do. The impact of SA, and the overall tuning of BOTA were side-benefits...but weren't really the reason why Bungie had to do this.

    • I wouldn't even mind waiting for my rift if they would just buff the healing orbs produced. I mean your limiting yourself to standing in one tiny area for a long duration those healing orbs need to be spawning more often and they need to restore their tracking range. Typical bungo though any time they design something good for warlocks they nerf it immediately into the ground.

    • If you put Wellspring on every gun you have, it works like Phoenix Protocol for your rift. As long as you get kills, you’ll get rift energy back. Try to resist throwing a grenade or melee though as that’ll diminish your rift return. This was my adaptation. Don’t get me wrong, I still don’t like the change.

      • The whole reason of the nerf was because it was causing crashes according to bungie, idk about you but that sounds like a great reason to nerf it. Bungie should’ve probably fixed the bug over choosing to just nerf it but I’m no game dev so idk how complicated it really is.
