I've seen one or two well intentioned "Happy Memorial Day" posts
Kids this is not how you do this: You honor Veterans on Veterans Day with "Happy Veterans day." So it would seem like "Happy Memorial Day" would be aproppriate, It is absolutely and utterly not.
To honor veterans on Memorial day is insulting to them and the dead. Many Veterans lose friends in combat and Memorial day is their day in the American Calender. No fireworks, No public celebrations, it is a solemn holiday remembering those who sacrificed every measure of their body and soul for their country.
"Blessed" Memorial Day
is appropriate,
and if you don't believe
Have a good Memorial Day, and I'm sorry for your loss
Thats all, the meat grilling on your barbecue, the kids playing in your yard: All of them are here because over a hundred and fifty years ago thousands upon thousands died to secure them.
I have no time for those who feel this holiday honors the military, because that could not be farther from the truth.
