Vex mythoclast is a fun weapon but it needs some adjustments

I have a few ideas. Its range when I tested it out on another account was about 22 meters. This should be increased to about 28 meters. I don’t have problems with the catalyst cause I’m a PvE player, but it clashes with the perk. It should also increase the stability when in lfr mode if you don’t want it to be as stable then you can half the stability buff when in lfr mode. I’m not sure if I’m missing out on anything else. Adding rampage would also be nice. This is all that came to my mind. Thank for taking your time to read this, whoever reads this post.

  • It needs to retain stacks when switching weapons by default. It’s catalyst should give more range (around 26-28m’s) and be a 5 second rampage that also bumps stability and has rewind rounds. That, that would fix it in my opinion.

  • The Vex Mythoclast was a bit of a missed opportunity. When i saw that it could turn into a Line rifle i was glad because that was what i was hoping for. Now i was a little annoyed you had to gain stacks for it instead of just converting your current ammo into shots but i figured balance whatever. The catalyst was what really dismayed me, how could bungie screw up a catalyst this bad again, not only is it trash but the amount of work for it is ridiculous.

  • The range is lower because it’s a primary that can one shot. It’s fine where it is. It’s fills it’s niche just fine, no need to buff it.

  • Personally I think it could use a 1 or 2 point damage buff in full auto. It might kill decently fast at close range, but it's still slower than a lot of other close range weapons. I think bungie should take a second look at the code of the weapon too, firing it feels a little weird sometimes, like it's delayed by half a second from trigger pull. Reloading sometimes takes a little longer than it should too, like it thought I was trying to activate the overcharge.

  • Maybe allow you to keep stacks if you switch LFR mode off or switch to a special weapon, that looks like it would make it more fun.

  • In crucible, I’ve found that it’s most effective at mid-range rather than close-range. It’s pretty much an auto rifle with a sniper mode.

  • i don’t think it necessarily has to be strong, just unique. it’s not really bad, it’s just not anarchy

  • I really think adding overload and keeping the overcharge when you swap weapons would make it a great weapon. With those changes I could see myself using it in the conflux encounter to deal with the champions, and switching to the linear fusion to deal with hobgoblin snipers.

    I say keep what the catalyst does now, but add the following: 1. Stowing this weapon no longer removes overcharge stacks; and 2. Toggling off the linear fusion rifle mode when overcharge stacks are left over does not remove any overcharge stacks. Those changes would let you keep the buff active and only sacrifice the stacks you really need to.

    Vex had crowd control back in the days, we could give it that back and the 56! magazine it use to have when selecting the increase magazine perk

  • i was actually thinking that kill clip would be a really nutty catalyst perk. Think about it - entering the LF mode also reloads the weapon. So you get a kill, immediately go into LF mode with KC active, and now you’ve got a much more powerful LF if only for a few seconds. Realistically though, KC would remain active for at least the first two shots in PvE, which could be really nice.

    • Base range should be 30 imo. Fun gun but sucks outside of 6s.
