As per today's Hotfix, Bungie "fixed" the Star Eater Scales and Boots of the Assembler:
Star Eater Scales only applies the damage bonus to Supers. No more weapon damage buff (which, while it was cool, let's be honest it needed to go). Also now needs 8 orbs instead of 4 for maximum charge
Boots of The Assembler: Rift cooldown is completely stopped while a rift is being extended. No more infinite rifts.
Also the bugged out Energy Accelerant mod has been tuned specifically to not effect players. At all. Cuz, you know, PvP.
No changes to the Titan boots, though. Cuz Titans are perfectly balanced and they have no flaws and they're so gosh darn perfect.
Edit: Oh yay, this post is Trending now... really wish it wouldn't only be the negative posts that trend all the time. I made a post a week ago about some potential ideas to change Light Subclasses in a positive way, and that never saw the light of day...
Edit 2: For those who keep citing the 90% buff that Star Eater now has, know that this is not nearly as great as you think it is. You need to learn the difference between "damage" and "DPS". Overall, even with the damage bump, Star Eater is objectively worse than Celestial Nighthawk, as at best it offers the same DPS as Celestial and Falling Star, but with far more setup, and a more strict set of requirements. Nighthawk and Falling Star are still better than Star Eater by a mile. This was not a buff, at least not as much as you thought it was.
Yes, I have seen the Aztecross video and the Ehroar video. My answer remains unchanged: Star Eater is worse than Celestial Nighthawk in terms of raid utility. Celestial is easier to use, requires far less setup, it's faster so you get back to weapon DPS sooner, and with Celestial you KNOW you'll always be ready for a 2nd damage phase, whereas you might not be fully prepared for a 2nd damage phase with Star Eater

Let's assume every Raid team has both one Bubble and one Well of Radiance - that is 6 free orbs for simply walking 5 feet - add a Crit golden gun, and your teammate gives you 2 - 6 orbs, depending on if he has nighthawk or good aim - add a tether and you get some more orbs - add masterwork weapon orbs and boom, double kills from things like salvager's salvo is prevalent - the reworked aeon gloves, Sect of Insight, gives an extra orb for a double kill with precision damage, and it has seen some usage combine all of this with the fact that the time it takes to shoot two extra golden gun shots makes the part about star-eater scales kind of invalid in my opinion
