Newest map for Crucible was 600+ days ago
Newest map for Gambit was 800+ days ago
I main PvE, but I also play PvP frequently and even if I played PvE 100% fully PvP having no new maps for 600 days is absolutely ridiculous.
I also understand Gambit isn’t the biggest game mode in D2 but it’s still a game mode. Having no new maps for 800 days amazes me also.
I love Destiny, call me a complainer or a hater, tell me to leave the game, tell me to get a life if you want.
If you can’t agree that for 600+ days Crucible and Gambit having not one new map Is a problem then I don’t know what to tell you.
-
How are you going to sell these maps? Just put them on their place.
-
They didn't ignore PvP, they spent time to remove several maps for it a few months back
-
4 RepliesNotice how the community managers never even chime in on this stuff anymore? 2 years since a new PvP map, and not once has DMG or cozmo said “Hey, that’s being heard, they’re working on it.” And to be fair, what can they say? They’ve completely ignored PvP for 2 years now, with very little to show for it. And they know that any more “renewed focus on PvP” statements are going to be seen for what they are — lies.

2 Repliesi really feel like i’m the only person that actually likes gambit
-
You want new maps and pvp just doesn’t work about a third of time. Let’s get a consistent game mode first.
-
1 ReplyI have enjoyed gambit quite a bit, I’m a reckoner, I guilder dredgen last season, I’ve got 8 infamy resets, but unfortunately at this point it’s just starting to not be so great anymore, I know every map way to well, adds are balanced different every single game and matchmaking can still be painful. I really hope they have an update for it eventually

Of course they are bringing back Destiny 1 raids with tweaking and calling them new content. Unfortunately it just the Same old Destiny Developers and just a different Day. I used to blame Activision for the serious shortcomings of the game but apparently Bungie is either in dire straits or they truly don’t give two shits about their product or their customers.

Activision’s studios were carrying the weight back then clearly, which makes sense. Making maps takes work, and that is something that Bungie is just unwilling and unable to do, even if it’s their jobs that we pay them to do. Why do actual work like creating maps when you can sell overpriced re-skinned cosmetics instead? You can also just lower the numbers on stats to nerf them (easily done) once a year and call that ‘balancing,’ while ignoring the elephant in the room like new maps and new enemies you are expected to make. Instead of creating new maps and modes for PvP & gambit, they can think of ways to monetise the basic quality of life feature that is transmog, which is free on most games and only allows you to change the look between armor that you already own; why give a free feature for free when you can charge for it, even though most people have already paid $100’s for the base game and its many DLC’s (which Bungie has deleted and will continue to delete), battle passes and cash shop? I fully expect them to hit the 1,000 day record with no new maps, modes, or enemies.

21 RepliesGoing to be Devil's Advocate here, so feel free to grab the pitchforks and downvotes. I could care less, but it's time to accept some "hard" truths. If you think this is a "serious" problem with the game, you're in the wrong mindset because Bungie has been doing two simple things here. First, they have been managing changes to the core game with the content vault, and second, responding to existing feedback. What do I mean by this? First and foremost, let's explain why there were no new maps last year, the allocated game space was for the Seasonal content (PvE) for Seasons 8 - 11, at which point it was announced that content vaulting was being introduced to reclaim disk space (In reality, this was likely decided well before the release of Shadowkeep). In doing so, this meant that some PvP / Gambit maps were also vaulted alongside the four destinations and old Year 2 content. Now, I saw the reply here mentioning that some vaulted destinations are still used in PvP maps, yes, and the reason is because they aren't employing the full suite of assets from these destinations (Just a color palette, a few model assets, and textures), most of the disk space saved came from larger files from these destinations (Sounds, Large Maps, Cinematics, Etc.). This means quite simply that they can still use maps from vaulted destinations without throwing that hit on the disk space. But why not just vault that content then and leave the maps in? This is where a lot of people are falling by the wayside on their complaints here, while missing some critical elements of other issues plaguing PvP in general. The PvP team right now is juggling three major points of feedback on their plates, and from what we've seen they are ordered as such: 1) Trials of Osiris needs a major revamp to become more welcoming, 2) Iron Banner is in need of a redux, and finally 3) New maps / modes. If you've been following the blogs, you'll see the PvP team has been putting their focus on the first two feedback points. We are getting some reworks to Trials in Season 15 (And more in a future season) alongside some new Iron Banner gear and a revamp with additional changes coming. In addition however, there's the dark horse (Literally) in the room with Stasis in the game, and the continued fact that maps have been constantly favoring shotguns for the past three years to the point where even these engagements have become repetitive to the point where maps don't even matter anymore. It's just as much of a sandbox problem here. All in all, no amount of these "It's been 2 years since the last PvP" posts are really going to change the pace here. What's coming and when it's coming has already been told to you. If you've at all been looking at reddit discussions as well, you'll see that this feedback has already been taken in as well numerous times, it's a manner of fixing the underlying issues before trying anything else new, and this is just the nature of how game development works, you just need to learn to accept it. I'll take my leave and downvotes now. :)

The maps suck anyhow. All shaped relatively the same. All designed for hand cannons and shotguns.
-
2 RepliesBecause everyone -blam!-ing hates Gambit and Crucible, I honestly dont know why Bungie keeps dragging their corpses along.
-
You want another uninspired three lane map, where everyone is just going to play the exact same way as they did for the last 600 days?
-
13 RepliesDaaaamn. Is that true? Its really been close to 2 years without a pvp map?

Edited by Pharaoh Rising: 5/27/2021 4:53:54 PMI 100% agree. Gambit especially, Gambit, IMO, is fun the first 1 to 3-4-5ish games daily. Then it gets tedious. But map variety is probably a huge factor to make peoples annoyance towards it... at least Crucible as enough maps it doesn’t fell 100% the same all the time... Just my $0.02 cents :)
-
This wouldn't be as much of an issue if there weren't so many maps in DCV ready to be put back in the game.
-
4 RepliesWhy did they keep Mars and Titan Gambit maps if it doesn't exist anymore? Why did they take out Tangled Shore and Dreaming City maps if they are still here? In all honesty Bungie isn't focused on things that actually matter We need new crucible and gambit maps, yet there has been zero communication from them that even says they'll consider it. It's no wonder Gambit itself has been practically abandoned since there's literally only 3 maps and 3 different bosses.
-
7 RepliesWhen did Activision’s studios last developed content for Destiny? Yeah that’s right.
-
5 Replieswe literally have maps on vaulted planets which makes no sense
-
bump thread, bungie take notes. PvP is a shitfest with 120 RPM handcannons
-
7 RepliesThey have to make room for seven year old Raids for the third time.
-
1 ReplyIsn't it also weird how we have pvp/Gambit maps for planets that have taken by the Darkness? Not that i'm not complaining, i just think it's weird that we still have those maps.
-
1 Reply😂😂😂... So many tears
-
I play pvp, casually. BUT everything thing bungie has said over the past 2 years about pvp have been LIES PLAIN AND SIMPLE LIES 2 out of the 3 bungie core activities are completely ignored. Other then sand box changes that actually hurt the one core activity they do work on. P.S. DONT GET ME STARTED ON THE AMOUNT OF BUGS, THAT THEY IGNORE, BUT CAN NERF 2 NEW EXOTICS 2 WEEKS INTO A SEASON
-
It’s not hate if it’s on point. 💠👍🏽
-
They aren’t even rotating maps like they said they would. So many times I’ll be like “hey I haven’t played on X map in a while” then I’ll remember it’s cause it was rotated out and never came back

3 RepliesGambit lost all the maps. It is so annoying playing the same 3 maps over and over and over. Crucible lost maps too but at least it has a few still. They shouldn't EVER remove maps for their excuse of "the game is too big". Maps aren't wasted space, they are used constantly, unlike planets that were vaulted. Also! What the -blam!- is up with the maps that were removed not being vaulted destinations? There was 1 Dreaming City map and 1 Tangled Shore map taken from us when their planets are still relevant. The ONLY logical answer, if it even is the case, is Bungie has to remove things, to rebuild the codes from stratch, to better their patching abilities and making everything smaller sized. But why the hell would bunch make a game with every planet and map overflowing with useless coding? If they are taking from us to recode then why the hell didn't they write more necessary-only files in the first place?
