Hot Take, New Vog is better

Old Vog was an overrated and frankly boring raid. Opening the door didn't give loot, Confluxes was way too long and boring, Oracles was too easy, Templar was fine and is pretty similar to the new version, old gorgons was better tho cuz less gorgons, and Atheon was a joke in the original and is now an actual boss fight. Not saying the raid is perfect but guess what the original wasn't perfect either but at least this one feels like a actual raid.

Agreed 100%. I thought it was okay in d1 but never though it was that special when you set aside the nostalgia, but the d2 version has made it my favourite raid in the franchise. Ive ran it a bunch of times already, most without even getting loot, three manned the whole raid start to finish 3 times and planning on trying three man flawless and some other cool challenges because this raid is just very fun to play and has a lot of replayability. It sounds crazy to ask bungie for reissued content but VoG 2.0 is so well done that I actually do hope that they do it with King's Fall and/or Wrath of the Machine as well, as a mid-way through the year content vault update like this one was. It was also probably the most well done day 1 experience in d2, at least out of the ones I participated in. Crown was awful because A. it came out the day of the new dlc so everyone was so underlevelled and B. it was during the worst meta in the game; mountaintop recluse with a GL. Garden would have been great but the final boss was an enourmous difficulty spike on day 1 because of the rebuilding plate mechanic being a bit overtuned with contest imo, making it near impossible which is why less than 100 teams beat it. DSC was just a joke, with the hardest encounter being Atraks which makes no sense, and if you found it hard you could take a break mid way through to get lament and trivialize it. VoG truly felt like it got progressively harder and harder as we learned new mechanics while new ones were being stacked on top of us, with contest challenge atheon being insanely difficult but SO satisfying to complete. It was HARD but it was not too ridiculously hard for it to be fun, it didn't feel unfair like Garden or Crown, the mechanics were rough but managable and every wipe was preventable. Probably the most fun day Ive had playing any video game, ever.
