I recently completed it and have to say it was fun. It was a refreshing change of pace from destiny 2's normal somewhat simple raids. All bosses we got to "near enraged" and we finally beat atheon in an exciting clutch. and While it is not a complete 1 for 1 reconstruction of the vault I think it's changes improved on the raid a lot. The encounters are difficult enough to be fun and challenging but still doable for an lfg(I did mine in an LFG). Overall I think it was a good redesign that changed enough but kept enough for it to be enjoyable and nostalgic.

Not keen on champions making an appearance but apart from that I thought the changes were fair enough.

Exactly. Yet there are still people out here complaining as if it is far too mechanic heavy. I guess they didn't want a raid.
-
Not a complaint really because it’s so minor and doesn’t really make a difference in the end. But the optional “secret” chest in the gorgon’s maze should not require you to shoot three vex boxes to get. It is nice after you shoot all the boxes and wipe they don’t respawn and you can head straight to the door but the gorgons paths seem more random and sometimes they just camp a certain area which makes it near impossible to sneak past unless you are invisible. But it’s a small encounter with some changes that are very minor, overall the entire raid was a pleasant experience and I had a blast going in blind.

Finally someone not complaining

1 ReplyIt's the most fun I've had in d2 in a minute. Finally some content that makes you think.

I do enjoy being able to thundercrash the shit out of gaytheon

Only done a little bit myself (helping my fiancée as she is 1270 and we got to Oracles and figured it out). It really isn’t as bad as people say it is. Just think

Yep, i had fun just like in the old D1 days. Second clear was much faster. Looking to reset to hopefully get that Vex as it never dropped for me in D1 😅

First raid I've ever tried day 1, took 13 hours over 2 days. But it was definitely worth it just for the experience, probably the best or second-best raid in D2 right now.

3 RepliesEdited by Boldly Going Nowhere: 5/24/2021 9:52:01 AMLoved it. Even if, like a lot of others, I was banging my head against a wall for hours. Everybody now has a role they must fill and it required conscious thought at certain moments. The best it's ever been, IMO.

3 RepliesFully agree. Stayed true to the spirit of the classic with enough twists to make it interesting, and hopefully no cheeses. Gg’s Bungie!

5 RepliesEdited by TrunkMonkey: 5/24/2021 6:14:06 AMI agree. day two was a walk in the park compare to day one.. almost like day two needs higher difficulty.. the mecanics are not hard. i think calus is harder then this raid.

agreed. My team absolutely loved it, it was so cool seeing the place in high res textures, and with large FOV!!!

Edited by Toilet God: 5/24/2021 10:50:13 AMYep same my team barely got atheon he was about to enrage but a hunter popped his golden gun and finished him it was a heart pounding experience it's what I live for in raids.

The Raid itself is absolutely beautiful. The graphics are next level (even on least gen), and let me just say, I actually like most of the changes they made to the raid.

I actually enjoyed contest mode….anyone who is complaining about needing to use their brains instead of brainlessly shooting adds and completing the raid somehow are just meatheads who play adept or lower strikes all day

Edited by WishingForRivenTentaclesTV: 5/24/2021 2:16:54 PMI played VoG in D1 and literally just stood around with nothing to do and got completely carried. I appreciate how Bungie made it require communication and investment from everyone. It really feels like a raid and is incredibly fun to execute. Oracles have become so much more interesting and Bungie made the encounters shorter and more enjoyable. 10/10 Bungie for not making VoG brain dead.
