This relic of D2’s vanilla raiding system has outstayed it’s welcome in the game, it’s not a mechanic many enjoy and I’d even go so far as to say it makes raids worse as a whole.
If you want to make a mechanic that wipes the raid, sure. But this is just artificial difficulty at this point.

2 RepliesOh you didn’t play D1 did you?

Tokens are fine. The wipe timer can go though.

No revives at all? Got it, cool

2 RepliesTime to stop dying mate

1 ReplyLeviathan, Crown, and Scourge are good D2 raids. Some of Leviathan is annoying and Crown is short with alot of padding, but you'll notice something with these raids... they aren't filled with "stub your toe and wipe" mechanics. You can recover and stand back up. These Raids instead had interesting/rewarding mechanics. Not overwhelming punish-mechanics. So the Revive-Token system is perfectly fine outside of the wipe-mechanic glued onto them. But when combined with content that's literally just punish mechanics... it's just broken and annoying. But hey a new "Master" mode for raids is coming! Wait... we already have something like Hard-Mode by default... that means... it's just going to be like other """Endgame""" Master/Grandmaster content in Destiny2 with stupid anti-fun modifiers, instant deaths, and more champions! Woohoo! I also don't understand their logic for importing D1 content either. They say they're bringing back the content. So don't make things annoying by bringing it into D2's tedious standards. Just change some HP numbers. Add a few enemies. Maybe fix some old problems/exploits... done. It would probably end up being the best content in D2 ironically. But instead they keep doing things nobody asked for and nobody needed.

Ehh... I prefer keeping it. Removing the countdown? Maybe. But removing revive tokens? Nah. If you have a player on your team that consistently dies they shouldnt just be carried through everything. There needs to be a legitimate penalty for a death. Besides, if you happen to have used every rez token in the first place, your group wasnt really having that good of a run.

1 Replypeople could remember the time when if the whole team fails in a nightfall they all had to start right from the beginning in year one of destiny one and many people did not like that.

There’s an easy solution to this.
Don’t die.
3 RepliesThat timer is annoying.

10 RepliesIt remove the "Hero" moment were 1 player left manages to carry the team or revive everyone

Edited by Dirty8Speciall: 5/25/2021 12:02:16 AMYep, looking at the comments and it makes perfect sense why my friends list has almost no active D2 players left on it. Most people want to play games just to have fun, not D2 players. At least not anymore, so many salty elitists who down anyone who mentions wanting something simple and easy. We COULD have both, easy OR hard, but then the elitists would cry foul that someone didn't "earn" their weapon.

5 RepliesTo everyone saying we had not revives in Destiny 1 yes we did not in hard mode but we could still clutch the encounters and not worry about being wiped cause one guy was dead.
-
2 RepliesThe tokens aren't a problem. The timer is. Remove the timer, keep the tokens.
-
1 Replylol maybe play patrol that doesnt have them
-
Hard Mode had them and Enrages were a thing too. Both could Wipe a team.
-
The revive tokens were the dumbest things to add to a raid. Here, let's watch the hate 😂
Bring back self res as it's former self.
Heartless68 You make some valid points and I agree that eververse must be removed from this game but, Whether we wanted it or not, we've stepped into a war with the Cabal on Mars. So let's get to taking out their command, one by one. Valus Ta'aurc. From what I can gather, he commands the Siege Dancers from an Imperial Land Tank just outside of Rubicon. He's well protected, but with the right team, we can punch through those defenses, take this beast out, and break their grip on Freehold

1 ReplyI think revive tokens are a good idea but implemented poorly. The thing is I think forcing no respawns like D1 hard mode is of course too unforgiving, but having unlimited respawns on a timer like on normal mode was just annoying because it's never fun being gatekept by a rez timer especially in D2 raids where you need everyone alive to do mechanics. Imo, keep the revive tokens, but just make it so that 6 tokens are shared between the whole team instead of one each. One each just leads to getting trolled insanely hard sometimes, like yesterday on atheon we had someone die in the throne room but the two people who had tokens were teleported so we couldnt revive and we wiped because the 2 people left got overwhelmed by supplicants. Or if you have the person who has the remaining revive token die, he can rez someone else but no one can rez him. Put this stuff on top of the 1:30 darkness encroaching timer or whatever and it's just obnoxious. Just give 6 tokens shared to the whole team.

5 RepliesThis why we need Normal (with unlimited Nightfall type revives) and hard mode with revive tokens, then reward the Pinnacles from the hard mode Raid and powerfuls from normal. It's literally as simple as that. Casuals can play and experience raiding, and the elitist raiders can raid as normal and be rewarded for it, as normal. I really don't understand how Bungie are so sh*t at game design. It's super easy. 😂

5 RepliesGet rid of the timer, not the tokens. You should not have infinite lives
-
5 RepliesHardmode D1 had no revives!
-
Sure. I like hard mode with no revives. Let’s bring it back.
-
28 RepliesIts..... “Contest” mode
-
3 RepliesD2 made you people soft.

4 RepliesNa it’s fine as it is. In Destiny 1, most people played Hard raids in which there’s no revives at all, normal had unlimited revives and imo was WAY to easy. It’s literally made to just learn the mechanics and that’s it. D2 in its current state is right in the middle of the two and is perfect imo
