PLEASE buff snipers on console
Trying to snipe on console (old gen) after the nerf is extremely rage inducing. Pretty much your only hope of getting a kill with a sniper that isn’t beloved, revoker, or adored in anything more than a 3v3 is to just keep prefiring around a lane with targeting mods. The only maps you can really snipe on are bannerfall, widows court and fortress. No one peaks the lanes on bannerfall. Fortress plays way too fast for sniping. And everyone just uses scout rifles or wish ender on widows. Why snipe when you could just use scouts, arbalest, bows, jotun, or stasis or all at once?

No, better not. The less snipers the less oppressive is PvP.

2 RepliesThe new raid sniper doesn't need a buff. That thing is a laser beam with aim bot when using targeting adjuster and SR targeting. Maxes out the AA on it. Can someone say free headshots? I say this because you say they need a buff when Bungo has already tuned them. I wouldn't even say anything about the firing cone or the bullet magnetism, but the scope zoom. The maps are way too small for the amount of zoom they have, with the exception of midtown and a few others. And hardly anyone uses snipers on those maps.

4 RepliesDo you want the Shadowkeep meta back? Cause that's how you get Shadowkeep meta. I'm in no hurry to return to the days when you could sit down in spawn, aim down sights, WAIT to get shot at, pull the trigger with your eyes closed, and STILL get a headshot because Flinch worked with Aim Assist to pull you straight to their head. I'm in no hurry to go back to the days when Snipers were more common than shotguns because Shotguns at least required you to get close and that was too much work for most players. The last thing we need is a sniper buff. Let snipers rot in hell. They take away all fun for everyone EXCEPT the sniper.

Honestly, this game just isn’t meant for Sniper Rifles. Might as well not even be in the game IMO, they’re near useless in PVP. I just run double primaries at this point, one short/midrange and one long range.

Buffing snipers for old-gen consoles can be problematic as it would make them even better on PS5/Series X and PC. Bungie would also have to add the extra line(s) of code to differentiate the platform and with their track record, would break something unrelated(This happen to me a couple of times when I was learning to make my own programs). However, old-gen consoles still have some decent options. For example, Izanagi's Burden is surprisingly good and can 1 tap body shot anyone w/ honed edge x4. Empowering rift plus an aggressive frame sniper w/ high impact reserves can also 1 tap body almost anybody. You got to build around the sniper with as much handling, targeting, and unflinching mods. Perks like snapshot sights, opening shot, moving target, surplus, and firmly planted helps out a lot. Exotic armors like Dragon's Shadow and Ophidian Aspect help out with handling and snappiness. I had good results with Izanagi's Burden, Adored, Frozen Orbit (I don't have a PvP god roll yet), Far Future (Still lacking a PvP god roll also), and Borealis on Xbox One. I use top tree Dawnblade w/ empowering rift as my main class for when I want to snipe. I'm not great at sniping either but it takes practice, patience, familiarity with the maps, and the right setup. To me, sniping feels more rewarding after the nerfs and doesn't feel as cheesy.

Idk, I rarely snipe, but I hit the sniper quest step today on console and got all 10 defeats in one match with no sniper mods. The new IB sniper is extremely good if you haven't tried it. Felt like it aimed itself.

Snipers are actually in a perfect spot, if anything they are too strong on next gen due to fov reducing the scopes zoom.

Sniping gets much easier with higher frames, you said old gen so I see where the real problem is. I promise sniping is actually fine, I play on pc with controller and the higher frames made a massive difference to the point people on pc even call me a hacker lol. When I played at 30 fps a few months ago with the same load out, I couldn’t land anything. The low frames made it difficult to track enemies and even with maxed out sens, I would over aim. Snipers are fine, just get lucky enough to upgrade and you will have a good time sniping.

...Yeah. Snipers are fine in the aim assist department and whatnot. Maybe a buff to base handling and precision damage is warranted, but that's really about it. And I exclusively run Far Future nowadays unless a quest makes me take it off.

1 ReplySniping on console is definitely harder than PC, but you can do it. The trick is learning not to follow someone’s head, but to learn to pull the trigger the moment their head goes in front of your crosshair, some adjustment required ofc Turning down your sensitivity may help too, also get a sniper with snapshot sights- adored is really good, I’ve got 140 kills with the tracker so far. Just takes some getting used to

It’s kind of annoying that they decreased Aim Assist for snipers so they couldn’t shoot through flinch, and so that they wouldn’t have to increase flinch, and then increased flinch again anyways. I think snipers were just nerfed too hard

They killed snipers on ps4 with the aim assist nerf. Even when your aim is in the head, it won’t hit a headshot sometimes. Snipers are more than fine on ps5 though.

I haven’t had any problems and I use my sniper close quarters. Anticipate where the enemy is most likely going to go, get comfortable with 1 sniper in pve and work your way from there. Go in private matches with friends for practice, you’ll eventually get used to it.

I love sniping but I don’t tend to snipe on those maps because they aren’t really sniper maps in 6’s. They are much more suited to scouts. Your better off on maps with tighter choke points where people will be running/sliding round corners with their shotguns out.

Midtown, convergence, and rusted lands are also very viable for sniping. I’m not a huge sniper rifle user but I did manage to get the iron banner quest done for sniping on those maps. My only complaint about sniping is the flinch factor. Or lack of. I’ve gotten the first shot with a jade rabbit on a sniper, yet, he manages to headshot me back. And vice versa. So flinch is my biggest complaint. And yes I use Adored. Have 143 guardian kills with it. Not a lot but enough that I somewhat know what I’m talking about.

There balanced I non next gen. But they’re actually broken on pc and next gen. Which is fortunately bc our meta is dictated buy the platforms that we can’t even compete with. Maybe some of the changes should be reversed on 30 frames but for the other advanced platforms, maybe nerf em abit.
