Oh boi.
It's half a year since Beyond light came out and our performance was literally cut in half and no flex tape can save us sadly. And to this day the issue hasn't been resolved.
Last update is from 29th of Januray..........It's frickin May and we haven't even heard a word?
I personally have the biggest issue still with Tangled Shore. That measn every time I load into a Fanatic strike, I leave immidietly, cuz I don't wanna put up with 45-55FPS gameplay for no reason what so ever.
Sadly the performance in the new seasonal activity isn't perfect either. For some reason when I look towards a portal and the bank at the beggining section I get from my 120FPS (got a lock there) down to 50ish FPS. And that just hurt so much. And that's just an ordinary portal, which we've seen many times and suddenly it just screws my FPS. (I dont think the bank is here to blame rlly, cuz when I move the camera only to the bank, it doesnt suck so much)
Then there is still the Clovis Bray facility on Europa, which for me personally seems better than it was at launch (it had 40FPS and now it has around 60-70FPS)
This all seems to affect AMD GPUs much more than Nvidia, as always.
I got my desktop with a 5700XT in it and this is how it runs (above)
On the other hand my laptop with an RTX 3070 runs this perfectly fine, with no hiccups anywhere and very stable framerates (Again capped at 120 cuz that's what I'm used to)
I'm not saying that this doesn't exist on Nvidia GPUs, it does. I see it every day on the TechSupport Destiny2 reddit, where ppl with AMD or Nvidia GPUs are coming for help and there is no day without a post about this.
So please ppl, try to bump this post or comment or whatever to get some traction goin again. Cuz I think the guy who was in charge of this was on holiday somewhere and when he came back, he just forgot what he was supposed to do or noone in there just cares abt it anymore. Which would be rlly sad.
my full specs for the full picture:
desktop: Asus TUF gaming B550m plus
Ryzen5 5600x
RX 5700XT
16Gb dual channel 3600MHz cl16
laptop: Asus ROG Strix G15 G513QR-HF010T Eclipse Gray
Ryzen7 5800H
RTX 3070 115w
16Gb dual channel 3200MHz
Hope this gains some attention again and we will see at least a tweet or an update in the MEGA THREAD that was updated in JANUARY (can't stress this enough xdd)
P.S.: just wanna say the story this season looks cool o.o so why do I have to experience it like trash on my desktop :<
edit: Tried to do higher resolusion scaling as @LaserEliten suggested and found no difference:
Just tried that and it made 0 difference for me saldy :/
Landed on Tangled shore and didnt move an inch. Tried 100% 120% and 140%
Had 53FPS on avg, power draw was 60-85Watts (out of like 220Watts ? rlly sad) and usage was around 60% with no spikes above 72%. Temps were around 48 degrees with a peak of 52......clearly the game doesn't wanna use my GPU at all xd
Cpu used only 3 cores in the range of 40 to 70% and one core around 50% 100% scaling
With 120% scaling it used 4 cores the same 40-70%. Same with 140% scaling.
Total CPU usage didnt go above 25%
Got a 5700XT Gigabyte OC gaming with a Ryzen 5 5600x........

Try the new 21.6.1 drivers. Not perfect, but improved my performance by quite a bit.

I've been waiting for a fix for half a year now, being really frustrated with it since I upgraded my specs a few months before Beyond Light, which cut my performance in half. Today I tried going back to version 20.4.2 of my AMD driver and somehow the performance is so much better, going up to 80 fps on the Tangled Shore instead of the current 40 fps. I'm so tired of this being neglected..

Came here through reddit, thought I was the only one having FPS issues in this game. Although I will say, it seems to affect of lot of AMD people, but my Nvidia RTX 2070 should not be struggling this much, it didn't use to be this way. Plz bungie..
-
12 RepliesHello, Thank you for your report, Bungie is aware and working on a fix for this. Stay tuned to the official Twitters for updates https://twitter.com/BungieHelp

2 Repliesthe problem is amd , destiny is not perfect but 80% of the problem is from amd
-
2 RepliesIt's time you make a new post so we always have something that appears in trending up top!

2 RepliesSame issue here. Yesterday upgraded from a 2080 super to 6900xt. Works perfect in heaps of other games but runs worse than my old 1070 in this game. Pretty annoyed
-
-
Yeah, in order to get a decent frame rate I have to use one of the older amd drivers.

2 RepliesEdited by Wuffydave: 5/14/2021 3:21:23 PMThis is pretty ridiculous at this point Bungie. My 6900XT, which gets well over double the FPS of my RTX 2080 in every single game and double the benchmark scores gets less than 25% the FPS my 2080 got in D2. I'm talking dips well below 60fps even at 1920x1080 resolution- on a 6900XT. If this will help the devs at all- looking at GPU Z it seems obvious the GPU is not being stressed or fed enough work to do. In other games it will pull a full 300 watts and clock itself to nearly 2.5Ghz constantly. In Destiny 2 it never consumes more than 100 watts and never clocks itself above 1.5Ghz- GPU load never goes above 40%. It just sits there with low clocks, low power consumption, low GPU usage while the framerate is still low.

1 ReplyBro, try to update or reinstal BIOS, windows is the mother-blam!-ing problem here, I´ve reinstall BIOS and game was fine until deepzhit windows forced me to update it game returns to be a zhit, like 10 min ago... Moderfuker Gates and hes dumpzhit system. Sorry, but im so mad now cause this situation.

Dont worry they got the "C Team", you know the guys you call when you cant even afford george peppard & Mr.T look alikes. Right after fixing sli, nvlink, and world hunger.
-
3 RepliesJust upgraded to a 5600x and a 6700xt, cant get more than 35 fps on lowest settings. This is ridiculous, RIP PC Enthusiasts who love destiny. I feel like I've wasted hundreds of dollars just to lose 100 fps on one of my favorite games.
-
I'm using a 5700xt along with an i9-10850k. I also have issues on the shore along with severe fps drops in override. It's getting pretty insane seeming there were similar issues back during the darkness public events.
-
6 RepliesI don't believe that anyone is working on it. If someone was, they wouldn't have released the new seasonal activity with whatever lighting or graphics things cause the low FPS issues. I've asked here if we could use some software tools to attempt to boost performance ourselves but haven't gotten an answer. You can force enable multi-threaded rendering and get a good FPS bump but then shadows flicker in a lot of places.
-
Agree totally and TBH the NVIDIA higher end chips seem to suffer more than the mid's. The 3080 that I have seems to vary WILDLY in FPS. When I was running a GTX-1060, I could consistently maintain 100 FPS but locked it to 90 FPS to keep heat from melting things down. Now I can get 25 FPS in some areas and over 200 FPS in others . I had to painfully lock it to 60 FPS and run it windowed full screen to get consistent performance.
-
I have a lower spec pc, but it still should be getting better performance than what I get currently. I really hope for a performance overall some day. Also, bump.
-
2 RepliesCurrently running an AMD RX 6800 + Ryzen 5 3600 and I'm getting worse performance in many areas versus my previous NVIDIA 1070 Ti... A GPU that's over 50% stronger struggling at the same resolution and graphical settings? And apparently this issue has existed for months with no sign of a resolution even after a DLC release? I was hoping to get back into the game this season, but the new activity forces my FPS to below 40 consistently during the gunfights. Looks like I'll be throwing in the towel until Bungie can undo whatever they messed up during Beyond Light.
-
1 ReplyI legit made a post like yours just a couple minutes ago, I should've looked before hand haha. But yeah, I'm just really tired of this, especially when my game was running super well before BL, which is even more frustrating because I KNOW it was running fine before, and all because of one patch... I can't have that no more... I just want to play this game dammit, one that doesn't run like a damn slideshow, I don't think it's asking too much right Bungie?
-
1 ReplyI’m having the same issue as well. I’m using a 5600 xt with a ryzen 7 3700x and I’m getting 40-60 frames and a random 250 sometimes on an resolution or graphical setting. I really want to play this season but I don’t want to do it on terrible frame rates. I just won’t play if it continues. I’ve played other games for the passed 3-4 months and I was super happy. Come back to destiny for 3 days and I am already upset.

Edited by Bezoro: 5/13/2021 11:56:27 PMMy FPS goes as low as 30 in the new overdrive activity on a RX 6800 XT. Needless to say, I am not pleased. But it seems like this is not a huge priority for them.
-
try not only bump this post, but don't support this bungo trashmakers, dont donate, maybe then this monkeys will start to think
-
1 ReplyI am very glad this is attracting some attention, but what I'm guessing will happen is they just reply with: "We are investigating the issue" It's been 6 months just working on it isn't good enough we should've had a fix way before now...
-
I'm on a 5700xt which ran very well pre beyond light but this splicer update has murdered even that. The new activity zone can drop to 20 fps and ping up to 80 causing stutter. I feel like the whole game in general has seen a hit for AMD platforms this update in particular. Am I going crazy or are other people noticing the progressive worsening of frames, its bordering past gen console levels.
-
1 ReplyWe've had months without any notice from Bungie on the problem now. Even AMD was courteous enough to bring it up to their team even though its a Bungie problem. What gives? https://old.reddit.com/r/Amd/comments/lr759l/wanna_know_about_destiny_2_with_driver_2042/gpfbxxc/

Big bump
