I have a few questions about playing as a Titan.

...and playing all three classes. I've been fluctuating between playing as a Hunter and a Warlock for a very long time, ever since I started playing the Destiny series during the Red War. However, I almost never go on my Titan because I always feel reluctant about it, even though I don't know the exact reason. What I'm looking for are a few answers to help me get comfortable and familiar with Titans, aside from the punching things and eating crayons jokes. - Which Lift should I choose in PvE/PvP? Is there one particular lift that is versatile for all game modes, and is there one that should never be used? - What are the differences between a Titan Lift and a Warlock's Glide? - Even though most classes control similarly, is there a different approach that I should take as a Titan in certain scenarios? - What stats should I be hunting for alongside Recovery? - Where are the best places to use a Barricade, and is the Towering or Rally Barricade more versatile? - Are there any noteworthy subclass trees to keep in mind, and are there ones that I should always stay clear of in both PvP and PvE? Those are my bigger questions. If you want to add any other important details, feel free to.

  • Directional control lift. It is the fastest and the less trashier of them. Unfortunately bungie killed titan and warlock jumps in d2 so you’d better only use it to… jump instead of to move like you do in your hunter. Dunemarchers boosts your speed while in the ground so you should definitely use it. The difference between titan and warlock’s jump… if you double jump while falling with your warlock, you go down further. If you jump while falling with your titan, it’s like you pressed the Run button, so you would get a forward movement boost. For speed, press the jump button and when you’re about to touch the ground (but before you do) press the jump again and you will be boosted forward. Don’t reset it, just stay in the air until you hit the ground. Titans have a lot of disadvantage in the air so you should focus your mobility on the ground, sliding. The below tree on the striker has some cool tricks for farming ability kills in pve or playing with a shotgun in pvp, since you can map with your melee and have it “charged” all the time when you kill someone with it. This melee gains the synthoceps range when you break someone’s shield Please don’t use sentinel on pvp. It is horrible. There are a lot of builds on managing and boosting abilities usage on pve, you should search for it and check it out.

Don’t listen to these punks. Titan main since D1 Strafe lift always, catapult and the other one are useless for content. Strafe lift let’s you titan skate. Once you start using titan to fly around you’ll hate warlocks stupidly slow glide and mostly because if a titan falls to a pit, a titan can actually recover from the fall. Not like warlocks that do not have a way to counteract momentum and they just glide to the void. Titans are more to cover and control zones, their grenades ensures so. Speaking of which. Do not listen to people saying “go high resil cause barrier blah blah” Titans were made to have 100 disc and put the rest in whatever you want. Titans grenades are excellent in the 3 subclasses. I personally use 100 disc, 90 recov, rest intellect, with armamentarium and a demolitionist gun (basically 5-7 seconds grenade cd) With titan skate you won’t miss mobility, melee sucks in all classes so ignore strength. Grenades, I recommend voidwall for well void, thermite for solar and pulse for pve. You should see how quickly I can clear gambit arenas with these 3 and some whiter hoard blights. For pvp use whatever fits you most, wanna bounce the nade? Go flashbang, incendiary or suppression, wanna surprise someone from behind go lighting. Aiming is hard? Magnetic or fusion grenades. Hell there are so many options. For supers and subclasses, wanna go offensive? Middle void with detonators, everything goes bang and you get grenade energy back while healing people and yourself! Also this melts vehicles on levels you wouldn’t imagine. Bottom solar, sunspots are op giving you unlimited grenades, thermite will make enemies create a portal to the fires of hell for their comrades. Pair this with warmind rage(?) the one that gives cells with solar splash damage and you become rasputin itself. Middle arc for one awesome súper that paired with a chest, can take a gambit boss down faster than you sneezing! Or bottom arc for roaming and get energy back every time you slam enemies! Wanna go defensive? Bingo bango bongo: bubble top void. Banner middle void. Both supers have exotics that synergy amazing with them. Stasis has great CC while also leaving a shit ton of crystals behind that will will people later! And guess what, there’s a fragment to regen grenade energy if you break them (again infinite grenades) Uhhh... what am I missing? Ah yeah barricades. Never use rally, it used to auto reload your guns not anymore. Towering always, again more zone control. Personally I’ve played and I like all 3 classes, if it weren’t by the slow and lame warlock glide, I’d play warlock more often. Each one suites a different playstyle and niche so just make sure to use it accordingly, and remember to read all tool tips so you actually learn to use your class and subclass as a pro Disclaimer: wrote this on phone at 5 am, there might be a ton of typos lol

    • First things first shaxx and saint 14 are two of the best. (Has nothing to do with the post but I said it) catapult and strafe are the most popular lifts, catapult is more familiar to a hunter triple jump (watch me jump off this cliff and come back). Strafe is like sky diving with no parachute tip:) try to stay grounded as much as possible also goes for catapult too in both pvp/pve stay out of the air (in the line of sight of an enemy). Warlocks glide slowly up/down Titans just glide kind of vertically and horizontally Your approach for Titan should be passive aggressive. Focus on any stat that focuses with your build. 100 strength if running stasis. Towering barricades nobody uses rallying barricades because they are useless. Towering has decent potential in both pvp/pve in pvp barricade can be used to peak sniper lanes, is good for pick up teammate that loves looking at shine sniper glare, pick heavy ammo, holding cap point. (The following contains opinions deal with it) Top tree sentinel and middle tree with Ursa for GM for solar bottom tree hammers with Phoenix cradle and lastly arc middle tree with skull or falling star. For pvp only bottom arc and stasis.

Just to touch on stuff as I remember it: Strafe lift is almost always the way to go. Towering barricade, because they nerfed rally into the ground. Discipline and Intellect are almost always my go to stats for pvp, and in general, however you need to figure out your playstyle. Some people like to zoot with mobility, some prefer resilience for more barricades, others prefer their melee abilities up all the time, while I prefer grenades and supers. Discover what you like and aim for those stats. Difference between warlock and titan lift - if you want to have upward momentum, titan lift gives that innately. Warlock glide extends your velocity in whichever direction you’re going - activated on the way up? You’ll glide upwards. On the way down? Downwards (sometimes you hit the air brakes though and stop falling altogether for a second lol). Overall, there is no innate upward momentum granted with glide. One major benefit of glide though, it lasts much, much longer.

      • They only thing that matters is this. Go forward and never retreat. Titans do not run, they do not hide. Hunters run and Warlocks hide. 💪🏻

      • I use high lift for most game play. Catapult lift with lion ramparts to sword fly. 4:40 in this video shows you how to get across the bridge at Moregeth to get the last wish raid chest solo. Shows the usefulness of catapult lift is why I included it

      • In destiny 1 catapult was the meta for skating and is pretty much also for d2. but strafe lift also offers some skating potential and a slightly more accessible method if you’re a console player. I’ve always steered clear of high lift. Personally I stick to the first two but primarily use strafe. Try each out and see how you feel. The differences between titan lift and warlock glide are most easily represented in the name. Titans “lift” is a continuous steady motion upwards when activated. Warlocks “glide” and is affected primarily by directional momentum of the player, but also can stop you from falling mid air like a hunter jump but without the vertical movement. Titan lift is most closely related to the jet pack from halo reach if you’ve ever played that. In terms of control, titans are a pretty good mix up of Defense and offense, barricade is a prime example of the former whereas Melees can range from slamming a lightning infused shoulder into someone’s jaw or giving you an overshield. Stat wise I always like a balance across my classes, but basically a moderately high resilience (50 ish) with a lower mobility (30 ish) should be fine. Exotics like dunemarchers negate low mobility. Don’t use rally. There was a point in time where you shouldn’t use towering, but now you should only use towering. While the allure of shoulder charge might attract you I suggest trying the alternate trees too. Bottom tree sun breaker is insanely good and so too is bottom tree striker, but I would avoid the latter in PvP. Melee classes are just.. bad going up against stasis. Thundercrash can be either decent (without falling star) or great (with falling star). Sentinel top tree is a must have for pve, especially raids for obvious reasons being bubble. Avoid sentinel in general for pvp imo, while the shield throw is pretty good the melee hitreg has been scuffed from day 1, not to mention the block can’t even block stasis projectiles or crystals for some very stupid reason. Suppressor nades can shut supers down but good luck trying to hit one on a top tree dawnblade or a stasis super. Speaking of stasis behemoth is really good.
Dunemarchers is a based exotic
• 1. I personally use high lift for both PvE and PVP, but I might start using strafe for PVP 2. Titan lift goes up for a short distance while Warlock lift goes more horizontal and far 3.Take advantage of your abilities and play the Titan's strengths and weaknesses. 4.Whatever you personally like. 5.In PvE, whenever you need to take a break, preferably against a wall so your back isn't showing (corners work well too. Another great place for barricade is on your teammate's ghost if you need to rez. For PVP, use it pretty similarly to PvE, but be more offensive with it. It is great if you wanna waste people's sniper ammo. Tower barricade is by far the best since rally got nerfed. 6.For PVE, I would steer clear of bottom and top tree striker. Middle tree works well with Falling Star, but that's about it. Top tree void is the god tier for team activities, middle tree is also god-tier with Ursa. Bottom tree is great for lower-level activities if you use doom fang as you can get your super really quick and it lasts a long time. Top tree solar is good for the debuff, but I personally love bottom tree. Bottom tree is great for healing and add clearing as you can get your abilities back faster with sunspots. As for middle tree, its alright in PvE, but it is so much better in PVP. As for stasis, its stasis (I hardly use stasis) For PVP, Striker used to be good, but it is kinda bad now. Middle tree is alright, but the super is kinda hard to use effectively. Bottom tree void is alright, the same as middle. Top is good for caping zones. Bubble is also good if you need to panic pop or get a damage boost. Really I use void for the impression grenade and the damage boost from bubble. Bottom tree solar is good for the sunspots and pairs well with jotunn (if you are that kind of person). Middle tree is probably the best way to go for roaring flames. If you use ashen wake, you can chain grenades and one hit them (ashen wake is currently bugged and doesn't give you your grenade back all the way, at least in my experience). The best thing you can do is play and figure out what works best for you.

      • What's your melee button? Because that's all you will need. Also your b.net name is quite fitting for a titan. "Shoulder charged by deputy mcnugget" just sits right.
Which Lift should I choose in PvE/PvP? Is there one particular lift that is versatile for all game modes, and is there one that should never be used?
Strafe jump for precision horizontal parkour. Generally the safest, most user-friendly jump with the best air control. High jump for quickly covering vertical distances - typically best suited for ambushing and repositioning in PvP or environments that require a lot of lateral movement. Catapult's speed really only stands out over the other jumps if you're a devoted Titan skater or if you pair it with Lion Rampants. Otherwise, a newer Titan player will generally want to stick to the top two for general movement.
What are the differences between a Titan Lift and a Warlock's Glide?
Warlocks have WAY longer flight time than Titans. They can float longer horizontal distances. They will also come to a complete midair stop if you cast glide while freefalling. However, their quick vertical movement is pathetic compared to the other two classes unless you use Blink and even THAT has problems. Titans will conserve their momentum even if you activate Lift while falling, so be ready to compensate as you're moving downward. Flight time is much shorter - and you will drop like a rock once you consume your entire jump, so be careful when making long horizontal leaps. However, they can cover vertical distance much more quickly than Warlocks. It's not difficult for a Behemoth to zip up into the sky and bulldoze a Warlock trying to glide away if you move fast enough.
What stats should I be hunting for alongside Recovery?
That one depends on your playstyle. However, Titans have access to some pretty unique grenades like Flashbangs, Disruptors and Thermites that can benefit greatly from high Discipline. Tack on Armamentarium and you can make players miserable in PvP with your grenade game. Behemoths and Missile Titans will value Intellect to spam Glacial Quakes and Falling Star Thundercrashes. Though, having super high intellect isn't critical in Grandmasters if your team is playing smart and constantly pumping out orbs. There is also a big argument for Resilience on Titans. They get the most mileage out of it since it reduces barricade recharge time AND can prevent you from getting two-tapped by 120 HC's with damage buffs. 50 is generally a good place to be for Grandmasters. 90 if you want the most optimal protection in PvP. If you're a more casual player who doesn't really touch the game's most difficult encounters, then Resilience won't matter as much to you.
Where are the best places to use a Barricade, and is the Towering or Rally Barricade more versatile?
Don't bother with Rally Barricade. You can hide behind it all you want and Grandmaster mobs + enemy players will still kill you as if the thing wasn't there. There are a few raid encounters where it's useable, but you can succeed in every endgame situation without it. In PvP, Towering is best used to cover your team as you capture an objective or to block a chokepoint to stop the enemy team from advancing into an area. However, some attacks like AoE damage and Shoulder Charge can still bypass the barricade and kill you if you're at low HP, so be careful. In PvE, Towering Barricades provide cover when you have to make a risky revive. They can also allow you to peek out into a dangerous area without fear of being instantly killed - which becomes a factor in Master content. You generally want save them for dangerous situations where you need breathing room to regen health or help take the heat off your team.
Are there any noteworthy subclass trees to keep in mind, and are there ones that I should always stay clear of in both PvP and PvE?
The PvE/Gambit meta heavily favors Thundercrash Titans with Falling Star for raw burst damage. However, in Grandmasters, Code of the Commander with Ursa Furiosas are the play since it effectively lets you spam Banner Shield and generate tons of orbs in areas where enemies will constantly fire at you. There are also still plenty of raid/strike encounters where Ward of Dawn is useful. Hammers and Fists are the losers here since there really aren't any real endgame situations where you'd want to devote your entire subclass to crowd control over defense/burst damage. They can clear waves in Gambit just fine, but... yeah, Falling Star is way too busted to pass up. In PvP, Titans are flexible. While Behemoth is far and away the most annoying to play against, Lion Rampants can allow you to rain hammers and shields on players from the air where many Stasis attacks can't hit you easily. Some Titans will insist that Ward is good in PvP if you can sync up with your team, but your mileage may vary. Fist of Havoc and Burning Maul really struggle in PvP thanks to the abundance of freeze effects flying all over the place, so they're not recommended.

        • Heya, - PvE you'll generally run Strafe lift switching to high lift VERY rarely and Catapult lift to sword fly only. PvP depends largely on your build and sub-class but Strafe is generally the go-to - Helps to think of lifts as jumps as opposed to the glide. Titan jump is usually a bit faster than a glide without the difference. You'd be best to try them out to see the difference - try a quick jump-jump to get more height and a slower jump (wait til top of initial jump arc) jump to go further forward. Landings are different too and will take a lot of getting used to. - It comes down to your subclass and activity. Titans are generally geared to more aggressive play but that falls to bits in Grandmasters for instance. - Typical Titan build is High Recovery and Resilience (barrier regen is linked to it) intel and strength don't hurt but this comes down to how often you want to use melee/ super or grenade (as with other classes) - Rally barricade is useless since it was nerfed early last year. Use towering barricade, use it whenever you need cover and also when you're reviving allies. - Most subclasses have specific builds that are designed to work well but in the main your go to's will be: - Bottom tree Solar (aka hammers) - Top tree Void (aka bubble, ward) (GM NF) - Mid tree Void (aka shield) (GM NF) - Mid tree Arc (Thundercrash) (Very situational GM NF, Gambit) best with Curiass of the Falling Furby - Bottom tree arc (aka punch) Roaming super for general stuff - Stasis (aka *expletive deleted*) PvP (some consider toxic) Try the exotics out with stuff, as they really make the class (as per most D2 stuff) As with all classes, learn how the movement works. Don't be afraid to pop barrier and remember you can walk through it without taking damage. That said, don't shoot the barrier, especially with explosives. Learn to care less about dying unless you're in something that requires careful play (GM's Trials...) Have fun - cos Titun. Hit me up if you need a hand.

Titan lift acts more like a hunter jump in the sense you get upwards momentum after activating the lift ability. This applies regardless of which lift (catapult/strafe/high) you're using. This is different from warlock glides where the momentum you get is always in the direction you were already going in as you activate the glide. Think of lift as a hunter jump, but instead of getting instant upwards momentum the moment you activate jump, with lift the upwards momentum gain takes a couple seconds to have taken it's full effect. The type of lift then changes how the upward momentum is applied, but never changes the fact it's upward momentum: - catapult lift's upward momentum is applied fully in a shorter timeframe at the beginning of lift activation. It's in essence closest to a hunter jump but still not as fast. - high lift has more total upward momentum (= takes you higher) but it's applied across a longer timeframe - strafe lift has the least upwards momentum that's also applied evenly across an average timeframe, but you have slightly better directional control (= can strafe left/right) while the lift's active For pve strafe lift's usually the best choice for most scenarios. Especially when platforming the better control saves lives. For pvp it's more up to taste, but personally I prefer catapult lift since usually when you jump in pvp, you want to go in an X direction in as small a timeframe as possible and catapult with it's front-loaded momentum does that the best outta the lifts. Catapult is also the only lift you can mousewheel skate with properly.

I been Titan since D1, and created 2 more classes in season 2, tried out both and Hunter was the only second class i could even imagine to play. The warlock felt like a pregnant albatross in the air. So slow and the controls were off. So no, im on my Titan. Funny how you can make a good choice from the getgo
