Alright Warlocks and Lore interested Guardians... another question!

So if the only things that can be Taken are things that are living(right? Let me know if that’s wrong or not) then why is it that entire vex can be taken and not just the radiolaria?
If the answer is Bungie said it would be cool in The Taken King, that’s an okay answer
Follow up question: do Hydra and Harpy class vex have radiolaria? Am I just blind or is it simply implied?

Hydra have radiolaria pods at the back near the base. You could say that harpies have theirs behind their eyes. Assuming that the first encounter boss of GoS is just a giant harpy.

  • Well, the taken Taken Fallen and Cabal we encounter aren't naked, are they?

From what we've observed (Like the Cabal base on Phobos), it seems like the target does indeed need to be living to be Taken. An exception to this would be the named Taken bosses in the Whisper of the Worm mission, although that is undoubtedly linked to Xol's necromancy abilities. As for the curveball question, think of it like this. Is only the Fallen Taken or does it's clothing and armour follow it? Taken energy can infect inanimate objects, but there has to be a will for the one doing the Taking to bend. Now to finish us off, the follow up question. Presumably, given that the radiolaria is integral to the Vex frames we see otherwise functioning. It's simply likely that the radiolaria is far less exposed.

  • 1. I understand it as so long as it's alive and/or has a will to be surmounted it can be taken. If you read a taken Vex Grimoire card it actually sounds like the narrator isn't convincing them to give in like the others, but informing them that there's no other logical conclusion other than accept being taken. 2. Yes they have radiolaria, it's just hidden inside them rather than outside.

Taken Phalanxes have shields. Just think of a Vex chassis as a very elaborate shield, and can therefore also be Tookened. (΄◉◞౪◟◉`)
