I remember Venus back in Destiny. It was bright, full of color (as in expression) and it gave off a classic Halo look to the Ishtar Sink. But something about it now looks...well, sick. As if the planet itself is decaying.
How could the planet look so different now? It couldn't be the darkness because the planet is still covered in light like Io and its volcanos spewing its remnant energy. Could it be the return of Atheon? Or could it be a corruption of Hive. So much has changed since we last been to Venus that it could be possible. The Vault of Glass might have our answers.
But if we get Venus back as a destination. Does that mean we get the Archpreist strike back, along with the Hyperion strike and the "hydra that I can't remember" strike?
All I want to do is kill some descendent and precursor Vex. And probably get Vex Mythoclast (I never got to use that beauty). Anyway what do you think is happening to our beloved goddess of beauty? Vex, Hive, or could it be the mysterious entity of the Glykon? Whatever it is, we will find out.

23 RepliesGlad you explained your post title cos the kiddywinks nowadays think "sick" means something wonderful. I loved Venus in D1, and eagerly await running the new VOG. I don't think we'll be seeing the whole planet back in the near future though.

8 Replies<It's the new lighting. If anything, Venus heals over time. Not only does it heal, but it has been since the Traveler touched it, and no Vex conversion has reversed that effect. The future Vault of Glass proves this. Even when the Vault has caved in and one can see the skyline above, Venus is overgrown. Venus can and will always heal. The only thing that can prevent that now is not the machinations of the Vex, but the cold death-touch of the Deep.>

Venus will always be one of my favorite locations. I load into D1 and replay missions with cutscenes like this because they are that amazing

Oh snap. I thought this was one of those crooked pepper ads.

3 RepliesIt contracted the venus covid variant.

2 RepliesI think Bungie finally figured out what venus looks like. Realistically, and I know d1 vets will bat this claim, but I thought that the old Venus and earth looked almost identical. Difference being rain.

1 Reply...new lightining?

3 RepliesEdited by The White Rabbit: 4/30/2021 8:07:41 PMLore wise only a very large caldera called the ‘Ishtar Sink’ was terraformed for human use. Real Venus is sick; acidic, poisonous atmosphere that would kill you instantly even without the 500 degree surface temperature. Volcanic gasses can kill you with a slight sniff. Back to lore wise, it’s possible the systems left in place maintaining the habitable areas have finally run down.

6 RepliesI’m pretty sure it was stated Vault of Glass, NOT Venus was coming back.

Maybe what the pyramids did on Io is what's already happened on Venus who knows.
-
Venus probably hadn’t gotten it’s daily dose of Vex Milk. Don’t worry; it’ll feel better tomorrow! :)
and it gave off a classic Halo look to the Ishtar Sink.
What Halo were you playing?
-
Well Bungie has basically confirmed venus isn’t coming back, even though VoG is. You’ll only be able to visit the initial load zone, nothing more.

1 ReplyKinda looked a bit like Nessus to me

When it was ported into d2 the different graphics d2 has probably done that to it and to be honest that part looks much better imo, absolutely stunning cant wait to run it with my team

7 RepliesEdited by WizardWolf: 4/30/2021 7:25:16 PMIn D1 Venus was by far my favorite planet. Don't ask me why, it just was.

2 RepliesIt definitely did look sick. I think its maybe because the biological life is dying out after being vexifyed.
-
Different time of day?

3 RepliesWhere did you guys see the D2 version already?
-
