Don't get me wrong Bungie, I love most of the things you have in the TWAB this week, and it address more than a few things that have needed to be addressed. 120's being too oppressive, bringing Astral Horizon and Felwinter's back into the fold properly, tweaking Bastion... the only thing that I casually disagree with is the sword nerf, for Lament and Guillotine, but that is just because I enjoy my strong blades in PvE.
One thing I will say that I vehemently contest is the nerf you are making to Quickdraw. Of course, I understand the 'why' behind it; especially on shotguns (not just those two above outliers), but I am begging you, please spare three types of weapons from this nerf, primarily sniper rifles. There are quite a few snipers that lack the option of Snapshot, and as such QD is the the only viable replacement.
I understand that some may argue that the presence of Surplus can make up for some of these, such as Far Future (I'm going to talk about this one later) or Apostate, but in a fast paced game like Destiny 2, I want my snipers (which are usually at a disadvantage due to the map design) to always be snappy since the enemy will move much faster than compared to other games. A slow sniper in Crucible ONLY works if one is hiding at the back of the map camping, and quite frankly, I prefer to actually move around the arena. And, let's be real, the majority of the maps in the game don't have much in the way of campy sniper lanes in 6's that won't be instantly shotgun rushed.
Also, scout rifle's in general aren't the best feeling, same with the majority of 180 HCs, and Quickdraw helps them feel less sluggish. While some can get Snapshot, a lot will be suffering in terms of handling. Some snipers will have zero handling perks beyond this crippled QD, such as Ikelos SR and Widow's Bite. Maybe they aren't popular snipers for Crucible, but I like trying them all out to see what I enjoy using.
Far Future is in an interesting place for me in particular due to its perk pool. I snagged a QD Opening Shot roll early this season and tried it out; instantly fell in love with it. But I look at the other perks... especially with the nerf coming to Frenzy, it is kind of garbage for PvE. So it's limited to good use to PvP... but it's going to be a slower, more sluggish sniper than before because of the QD nerf, or I'll have to obtain a Surplus roll... in a Crucible meta that still revolves around abilities more than gunplay the majority of the time. So I'm going to be punished for going against the meta with a sniper I enjoy.
So please, I plead that you spare those weapon types somehow, because I've so many Quickdraw sniper/unorthodox primary rolls that will be crippled to just a fast swap time all because of shotguns.

5 RepliesNope keep the nerf. You shouldn't be able to whip out a sniper rifle like it's a 6-shooter.
-
2 RepliesAnd fusions.
-
8 RepliesSnipers are for trash people who camp and get lucky
-
No it's fine. There are other perks that work well besides quick draw for a sniper rifle. Things like firmly planted, moving target, etc. Only things that really take a harder hit are the high impacts, and even then firmly planted and some handling perks can get around some of that. It kind of was a necessary nerf

Quickdraw should really be removed from the game. It takes away tactics. If I catch you at range with a scout, quick draw let's you "potentially" counter that scenario. Where with my advantage should net a kill. It's called awareness. Having good flanking tactics shouldn't be countered by being able to immediately swap weapons and kill that person or hip fire for the damage just to Quickdraw back to a primary and finish it. Might as well let people dual wield a sniper and whatever else with no penalties.

The exotic snipers are gonna be fine in PvP, so I don’t really understand how the legendary ones with QuickDraw are gonna get nerfed into oblivion
-
19 RepliesI Don’t mind it, its cheese being able to land a body and then finish off body with a hand cannon. Specials all need to not have quickdraw honestly, its so easy to abuse specials in this game its ridiculous.

The problem is that quickdraw does too much for just existing and is out of its lane. It says it is just a faster swap speed. It actually maxes out your handling as well, which affects ADS speed, stow speed, ready fire speed, all at no real cost except a perk slot. Quickdraw needs to function as it was designed for, as it is named. We do have targeting mods and dexterity mods. People should have to use the mod system to accommodate their playstyle. Why, if you want more ammo, you run a scavenger mod. If you want a faster ADS or reload or handling speed or reduced flinch, why shouldn't the player have to use these mods to make their weapon better? Otherwise, you have a single perk that negates needing a perk on your gun as well as negating TWO whole armor mods that still don't even come close. It is a neccessary nerf across the board. Quickdraw was just too good.

Just become a Hunter main and use Dragon Shadow and have quickdraw for every gun.

4 RepliesJust try hard scoping at back of map or simply use a primary (that’s not a sniper) when in close. Problem solved. No need for QD in Snipers.

Edited by Orpheus Kell of Oracles: 4/9/2021 2:43:21 AMYeah exactly to the op well put, it’s like 75% of the legendaries in this whole season are going to end up being dismantled... guess there’s next season to play hours for weapons that will be nerfed before the season after that ... :/

Agreed
-
people saying no because "snipers shouldnt handle fast" as if snapshot doesnt let you aim even faster than quickdraw. nerfing quickdraw on snipers just makes snapshot even more distinctively better and makes even less snipers viable in the meta
-
-
it’ll still be snappy but only on the first time you scope in
-
It’s a nerf to all snipes and other shotguns that have quickdraw. Simple as that.

4 RepliesI think QD on snipers is more OP than on shottys to be honest.
