The same way they did stasis, just make it better in pve. I think a 15-40% damage buff would make them viable in pve, i myself is a fan of heavy linear fusion rifles but i hate the arbalest, and why isnt queenbreakers bow a secondery but arbalest is? I would use my god roll threaded needle so much or my favorite heavy to use in pvp, corsairs wrath.

2 RepliesEdited by Erijian: 4/6/2021 8:15:44 PMJust make them Special Weapons. They'll never do anything better than the other Heavy Weapons especially with Bungie's mindset on how much damage "safe" weapons should deal. Of course Sleeper should remain a Heavy and receive buffs of its own if the above happened.

2 RepliesWon’t happen, the gambit mains will be in here with torches and pitchforks demanding nerfs.

2 RepliesThe seesaw bullet effect. It's seesaw bullets. Sometimes bullet numbers are up. Sometimes bullet numbers are down. Up and down. Up and down. Like a seesaw. Linear Fusion bullet numbers looks like down now. Maybe later will be up. Who knows really. It's a seesaw. Kids like seesaw. They put you on a playground. You kids like the seesaw bullets. Hehe. Hand cannons seesaw bullets are up now. That's in the playground of seesaw bullets now. Maybe they put Linear bullets up, maybe later. Who knows but the playground owners. They make seesaw bullets. Put you on playground play seesaw bullets. You kids love them seesaw bullets. Hehe.

10 RepliesThey need to be made special weapons.
-
Honestly, I would welcome a damage buff. And it couldn't hurt any more than xenophage.
-
7 Repliesi propose linear fusions to one shot body in pvp
-
8 RepliesThey're easy special weapons, but for some reason that idea is getting trashed around here
-
Sleeper would be awesome to give it and outbreak perk, or Wolfpack lazorz
-
NO! it'll hurt my shard income.
-
What’s that? Never heard of them.... I just call them Shards
-
They need to be turned into special weapons like snipers were
-
Need more ammo, faster shooting, accurate hip fire
-
I don't think they need buffed. I think they need to be green ammo.
-
4 Repliesfor one thing they should overpenetrate their target, so you can kill anything in line with your shot. crit multiplier needs to be higher, reloads need to be 50% faster. their range needs a huge buff as well. cannot think of anything else at the moment.
-
Wait.....there are heavy linear fusion rifles? I thought they were just gunsmith materials
-
11 RepliesThey're literally worse than special ammo snipers. I don't see any reason to use any linear fusion other than arbalest, and even that's only for breaking shields.
-
I'm holding on to some of them in case a buff rolls around before vog comes back
-
2 RepliesTheir performance is especially sad considering they're basically the equivalent to railguns. Using electromagnetism to sling a high-yield slug at super sonic speeds, even in experimental models, is enough to just annihilate any armored targets. Handheld railguns would make conventional ballistic sniper rifles look like BB guns. To that end, linear fusion rifles should be the heavy big brother to sniper rifles; having lower ammo and taking up the heavy slot in exchange for insane single-target damage. They could balance it and reel in the range by giving a lore reason: At the insane speed the slug is going it actually burns away as it travels, making have less mass/force the further it travels. That would give the excuse to make it a solid mid-range destroyer (as apparently Bungie fears a strong weapon with range).

Edited by Rick Dangerous: 4/4/2021 6:39:10 AMWhat makes sense to me is to make them special ammo weapons. But since snipers exist, they would need to have either unique perks, intrinsic perks, or (what I would like to do) no/drastically reduced damage fall off. Edit: Here's an idea, keep linears mostly the same but, give them an over charge ability (hold the fire button until released) the longer the charge the more damage. Holding it too long, or charging over limit causes the gun to vent, damaging the user and consuming half the ammo. Think plasma weapons from WH40k. Or, take their ammo and allowed them to regenerate shot charges slowly, but picking up ammo speeds up the recharge.

4 RepliesThe only liniar that deserves to be a heavy, is sleeper. Give all liniars the aim assist Nerf arbalest recieved, then make all liniars except sleeper, "energy ammo" weapons. Nothing else needed. Their litterily just worse snipers. Any argument you could make as to liniars being too much if this was a thing, is immediately wrong since snipers exist. Why hancicap, handicaped weapons? Cause that's bungie, and were not bungie.

Edited by Delta Bear 010: 4/4/2021 5:41:06 AMThe problem with linears, is they dont really have a roll. They aren't add clear, or dps Their intended roll seem to be picking off high health targets at range. Leviathans breath falls in to the same place I think if they got 15-20% base damage buff and bungie gave them (and fusion rifles) more unique perk similar to box breathing or trench barrel, they would be in a decent spot. Also they need more archetypes like maybe an aggressive frame that fires 2 round bursts or a rapid fire which could be a cross between a linear and a trace rifle.

Edited by Double07: 4/4/2021 5:00:54 AMI was able to get kills with one that had high aim assist

2 RepliesIt would be cool if they shut down champions, not as an extra perk but intrinsically. At least then they would have a useful purpose. It could free up your other weapon choices so you're not forced into weapons you don't like based on the artifact of the season.
-
They justneed more damage
-
Maybe they could provide an intrinsic damage buff on targets you damage. Sort of like a High Value Target that has been designated and highlighted, once damaged, a buff is placed on you and the rest of the team for several seconds. Could be useful for higher level gameplay maybe? Idk at least they'd see some playtime i guess. They would be obviously more useful in PvE but at this point i dont even know what i could suggest with them for PvP.

1 ReplyIf linear fusion rifles left the game, I wouldn't notice.
