Win trading is still alive and well
Last night in a Trials match, I looked up a player's stats to see what we were up against. I saw 9.00 K/D and a 21 game win streak and immediately thought cheater. Then I looked closer, and he had a 20 game streak of 0 kills but all wins against a LOT of empty opponent teams and partially filled teams with DNF players. His 21st game he had 9 kills and 0 deaths with nobody else in the game having a kill. It was also clearly a win trade game.
Then I looked up another player today who had the trials flawless title and some of this season's adept gear. I wanted to see how good they were, only to see similar stats. No kills, but continuing to win against empty or partially filled teams with DNF players. Apparently the fix did not fix it.
This week has been extraordinarily sweaty, and this explains why. People are just win trading to flawless again, leaving the population actually play cut down to a large portion being sweaty players. If you're going to disable Trials for a few weeks because of an issue, that issue should be resolved. Instead, it's still around, and it's making the people who actually try to play the games out have people with hundreds of flawless runs be their first opponents frequently. You've seen what happens when the loot is well incentivized from last week. This week, the loot is weaker and people leave the playlist while others sit in their win trade bubble.

Yes it is alive and well and found another clan member doing it. When challenged about it, they bounced. Obviously no good excuse as to reason they cheated. Funny thing is the dudes PvP stats were excellent overall they had a 1.65kd. Could have gone flawless legit if they were willing to put the effort in.

The fact that players don’t like playing it at all, and even less like playing it legit is a real issue. Win trading using network manipulation is cheating, but it’s hardly the biggest issue in the playlist because it doesn’t effect other players. Trials needs to be removed and re-worked.

4 RepliesIve been doing suicide runs for quick bounties. Got a decent roll on a hammer... Having that gun doesn't make me any better, i still suck. However the trials guns are shiny so i want them.

8 RepliesNGL, and this is a hot take, just ban them. Yes, I know, I know, Bungie has the whole “if it’s an exploit, we won’t ban you” but that’s based on the premise that eventually it will be solved through patches in some form or another later down the line, which win trading won’t be and is really really easy to detect automatically. If Bungie just came out and said “from now on win trading is a bannable offense?” Poof. Gone. Done. The only thing holding them back is their circle-jerk ideologies. Lesson for you all: sometimes it’s okay to break your promises if you’re breaking it for the right reason. And I know all the win traders will come in here and say “but what about cheaters?!” Yes cheaters are a big problem but fixing another, barely related problem has nothing to do with their efforts against cheaters. Considering how easy it is to detect win trading when compared to cheating, it’d make plenty of sense if they just hammered it out now.

It’s a broken system with a broken matchmaking algorithm (why is me and my teammates, never flawless, average of a .5 KD, being matched against 48x flawless this season or 46k trials kills this season players, flawless multiple times this week..... on match 1)

6 RepliesPeople keep saying it doesn’t hurt players. What about people who end up with perfect rolls of weapons like the Adept Igneous Hammer or Adept Messenger? These meta weapons will be better, and will give those players an advantage. Then those players use those weapons in Control etc... giving an advantage. If earned properly it is fair but when earned through win trading, ghost lobbies etc.... not ok.

3 RepliesWin trading isn't going to make normal games any more sweaty than before. Hell they would only make them easier because now you'll run into people only looking to trade that would just leave immediately when matching a wrong opponent.

Trials tokens should stay, so even if you only do 3/5 wins matches you can get something if you build a stock pile of tokens

4 RepliesMany are "jumping Jerrys" "base jumpers" "cliff divers"... You get the idea. Not necessarily win traders. The 3 win weapon is good, so people are going to commit suicide to quickly complete a bounty for a free gun. At least until bungie enacts some sort of prevention or "awareness" to combat the issue

Have 3 chests at the lighthouse. 1st chest is for 7 wins (not flawless) 2nd chest is for flawless. 3rd chest is for a special card you can get after flawless that puts you in a bracket with other flawless players. This chest has new emblems, armor ornaments, shaders, ships, sparrows, etc All chests give adept weapons and the flawless chest let’s you buy more adept weapons with tokens

Maybe Bungie should fix Trials so it's more rewarding to actually play it vs win trading. Hmmmmmmm...

Bare bones win trading has been a thing since comp's inception four years ago and eversince then it has been used in Iron banner, Trials, and even gambit. It is simply not possible for Bungie to prevent people from going on an unpopulated host and queuing at the same time in order to match eachother and farm eachother for wins, kills for a quest etc. People have been doing this since D1 when they wanted to play crucible against their friends pre-private matches so they would search and eval queue until they got eachother. The type of win trading that surfaced at Convergence last month utilized a bug that many didnt know about: the ability to join fireteams whilst flying in to an activity. The same bug allowed for the 12 man activities. This is unintentional, of course, and using this bug makes win trading way easier. By fixing the bug, bungie was able to stamp out that specific method of win trafing. But the barebones "go on the mozambique host and queue at the same time" is unavoidable.

10 RepliesI see I'm getting downvoted by win traders. If you want to play that type of game, then go download some AFK mobile game and just collect loot. It's altering the playlist for those of us actually trying to play.

3 Repliesso win trade is basically you having a record of 1 win and 1 lose in general, because you are losing on one character and winning on another so to speak, I think what you saw is just normal account recov that has been here for what, 4 years I think? it was never dead to begin with, this is the kind of recov ppl usually pay for before win trade
