So with the introduction of Wyverns in Beyond Light, I've been wondering of what their defined purpose is. Unlike previous units that act as "gardeners, engineers, and managers" for the most part, Wyverns seem to mostly function for combat due to their abilities and behavior. Is this perhaps a glimpse of what Vex combat frames are or could be, or do Wyverns instead act in the construction protocols like previous Vex units do? If the latter is true, does anyone know what their exact function is?

There purpose is to make me sad in Legendary Lost Sectors. :(

1 ReplyWhile the game never actually states what the wyverns purpose is, and doesn't even acknowledged them as a new unit in the beyond light campaign for that matter, the community has generally accepted the idea that it's a vex combat unit All of its features seem designed for combat and defense: it's weapons spread out the further the shot goes as to increase likelihood of collision with its target, clawed talons on the feet, a torpedo slam, wings designed to absorb damage and defend other units behind them, and the fact it hides it's radiolaria chamber from initial view all suggest the wyvern's function is combat Personally I like to think it's the Harpy or Goblin equivalent of Combat frames I. 4 RepliesIf your reply didn't include the word YEET, you need to get out more. Wyverns are the YEETmasters of Destiny 2. Previously this power was reserved for bosses. Watching someone else get launched is pretty funny tbh.

For one they’re probably gonna replace the harpy’s with wyverns in VOG... I see it now. Imagine that being scary, more than the harpy’s.

2 RepliesTheir sole purpose is to actively and aggressively track players in order to perform the stomp mechanic. 😜🤣

1 ReplyThe purpose of wyverns are to be annoying as possible to the playerbase lol

In Menagerie, Calus says that we've never fought true Vex warriors yet. We're just fighting engineers and workers. Wyverns definitely seen like a step up from your typical Vex foes.

To make shanks jealous of their thicc legs
-
Purpose is to die to it & scream “F**king Wyvern!!!”

2 RepliesWell, like any type of technology, it needs to advance. Since we been smacking them, the Vex need to develop new Units to combat us. They're kinda like a Hobgoblin/Minotaur/Harpy. Shielding from Hobgoblin Size from Minotuar Weapon system from Harpy.

Basically they are giant Vex teets that provide the milk.

4 RepliesYou ever had BBQ'd Wyvern legs? De-licious! Marinate them for 24 hours in some spiced Vex Milk and then slap them on a grill at a high heat for some nice searing and crunchy skin! Yeah...that's the shit I'm talking about.
Transmat firing!
2 RepliesMy guess is that Wyverns are security units, not full on combat units.

They are probably not a full combat frame or they'd be ALOT harder to kill. While we're here tho one of my favorite vex theories is that the weird fish thingy Elsie has is a combat frame
