PS5 Character Select Crashes
Had game crash 6x in secession trying to select a character.
Clan members on PS5 are also experiencing the same issue since the most recent patch.

Really starting to wonder why I paid for a game that I can only play on the weekends that now crashes every weekend - and I have to spend half of it re-installing the whole game every time.

While we all patiently wait for a fix from bungie, you can launch the ps4 version on the ps5 if you get the reinstall message. Working for me after 3 crashes/re-installs this week. Hope that helps!

I am on PS5 and the game keeps crashing and the error is telling me to do a full reinstall. How many times a week am I going to have to do this? Does anyone know what is going on? I have never experienced this type of error with Bungie before and I hope it gets fixed asap.

Still having the same issue. Bungie got our money and doesn't give a shit. Was supposed to be fixed in the hotfix but just made the situation worst. Haven't been able to play in 2 weeks

Still happening 5/26. It freezes after I select character!! Haven’t played in 2 days due to the bug!

1 ReplyMay 18 2021, still have the same issue. I can only play the PS4 version without crashing. The ps5 version crashes as soon as I select a character or try and visit a map.

Been having this issue for months now. I dealt with it but now I can get to the destinations tab once I launch to fly to a planet it crashed/freezes. Then I get the error code everyone else gets. I contacted Sony and they wanted me to send my PS5 in since I tried all of their troubleshooting methods.

It's may 12th and I am now having the same problem where the game crashes before a character select. I'm ready to delete the stupid game

I waited for roughly 30 seconds before selecting a charachter and it let me in. Its definently a bungie app issue every other game of mine works perfectly.

Can also confirm this is happening on PS5 since latest patch. Earlier in the week following the patch it would crash once, but when relaunching destiny 2 it would then work. Today when attempting it has crashed 4 times in a row on character selection so have given up for now.

Same issue here. Started happening since the last update. Some of my pals on PS5 also have this issue. Other games work fine. Loading another game then using the “switcher” to open destiny while in another game seems to do the trick. But its annoying & needs fixed!!

I had this exact same issue since the day the next-gen upgrade for D2 launched on ps5. The response to my post was that it’s probably a console issue and I should contact Playstation support. From there I did all the troubleshooting steps for the error code and nothing worked. From what I’ve seen online this is pretty common and happens on different games for different users. Now my questions: Why is there no further information on the cause and the resolution of this issue? Why is there silence between Sony and development studios resulting in an infinite loop of redirections when someone tries to ask for a solution to this?

Bump. Exact same issue. System crash after character select. 5+ times in a row. Even tried booting up via the activity cards too.

No Destiny error code just PS5 OS error reporting message. 4th attempt let me in. Played for a bit. Left for a couple of hours and now I’m 5th attempt with crashing at character select trying to get back in. Edit 1. 6th attempt and I’m in.

Mine logged in first time with this method (could be coincidence!!) Same issue here; Select a character, screen goes black, game crashes with error CE-108255-1 Happened first time launching on Tuesday, console reset seemed to resolve. Played Fine Yesterday with no issues. Today i have been unable to get past the character screen multiple times, ive tried the sony support suggestions ; Database Rebuild, Game Reinstall, Console Reinstall with no difference Im downloading PS4 version atm to see if that works
