This thing needs a SERIOUS buff. Necrotic grips? Amazing! Mask of Bakris? I don't even need to say anything. Icefall mantle? Pretty awful at the moment!
The fact that you use the ability and can't sprint OR jump just to get a res overshield sucks. The overshield should be greatly increased. Or if not an increase, at least let us JUMP AND SPRINT? Just a thought.

It doesn't need a buff, it's already ridiculous to face. If you think it sucks just because you can't move around as easily, you aren't using it right. The entire idea of Icefall Mantle is that it turns people into tanks, not into frogs. If you want agility, Hunters and Warlocks have plenty of exotics and abilities that will make you happy. I just got the Icefall Mantle 5 hours ago and it's overpowered. It makes Control and Rumble hilariously easy, and heavily rewards sword users in PvE. If it lasted 10 seconds instead of 20 and didn't renew its timer when taking damage, it would be fairly balanced, but as of now, it needs a nerf.
-
Is it bad? I never got it
-
I don't see the point in using it when you already get an overshield using melee with top tree Sentinel
-
No, no speed boost, just make it even tankier, as in survive Felwinter's point blank tanky. I don't even main Titan and I would LOVE to see that.
-
I'll tell you how to use these. One, run glacier grenade with the fragment that grants damage resistance when you're near friendly stasis crystals. Two, have a bottom tree nightstalker with omnioculus make you invisible. You'll have 3 separate perks giving you damage resistance that stacks, plus invisibility, and a plus 10 to all of your stats, AND an increase in weapon speed (ads time, swap time, ready time, reload speed).

4 RepliesEdited by IKEL0S: 3/12/2021 7:24:48 PMI’m an icefall mantle main in PvP and PvE and I don’t know about you but I’m completely fine with how it works. It’s an exotic piece that comes in clutch in all 1v1 scenarios. And especially in PvE survivability. Mobility is everything in this game especially in high end pvp content. But what I’ve found is that predicting play styles while using ice fall can make you almost unkillable unless there’s someone with a high impact sniper that’s a crack shot. Then cut and is the way to go. Try this build for pvp: Icefall mantle Sweet business Code of the protector Mods: high energy fire Sustained fire Taking charge This makes you build damn near turns you into a call of duty juggernaut and is probably the most consistent fun I have in crucible when I want to switch things up from the meta
also I don’t want them to get a buff so that people complain about it non stop and hunter and warlock mains start begging for a nerf on it. I appreciate my lowkey meta killing exotic armor piece :)
I think it could do with a slight buff. Allow users to jump normally. It’s easy to overlook the small bumps and one foot high “walls” that we easily move over.
-
In PvE, sure. PvP? Buffing an on-demand overshield is asking for trouble.
-
Yup. Which is why I haven’t bothered even getting the exotic lol I get healing, infinite melee and grenade energy with Skullfort paired with Earthshaker. Striker is supreme.
-
Agreed, they suck.
-
Maybe not too serious of a buff. Maybe a SLIGHT increase to overshield strength and SLIGHT increase to base speed. Other than that I think it works well for what it does.
-
Definitely needs a re-work.

4 RepliesEdited by Luigigod: 3/12/2021 2:19:54 PMI personally think it is strong as is, just by simply being able to pop an overshield whenever (I'd be fine with a buff that allows the ability to be cancelled) ; let me explain by stating other things that grant an overshield, for comparison's sake - A Healing Rift may grant an overshield with continuous healing, but the trade-off is that it takes around 2 seconds to place and that it only works in a confined area - One-Eyed Mask Grants an overshield, but relies on getting a kill off of someone who has sbot you before-hand - Reviving a Teammate grants an overshield, though it only lasts for around 5 seconds and requires there to be a situation to res safely anyways (The Exotic Precious scars greatly increase the time the overshield stays on, but requires a teammate to be near to stay activated) - Mk. 44 Stand asides grant an overshield to those on a specific subclass tree while at full health with a melee charge active - Eternal Warrior grants an overshield to the Fist of Havoc super upon activation Meanwhile, Icefall Mantle allows you to pop an overshield (with a slow effect around you, which technically means it is safer than popping a rift) whenever you want that disables sprinting and jumping, while also stops barricade (the overshield) cooldown; without the slow de-buff, there would be no clear-cut drawback to this exotic, and it would simply outclass others.

3 RepliesIdk why people keep saying necrotic grips are good.
-
2 RepliesIt gives + 100 health. You can win every 1v1 with that. If hunters got that as an exotic titans would cry nerf.
-
Don’t use it to be offensive, use it to be defensive. Never activate the barrier if there are no enemies on your radar. Otherwise you set yourself up for failure because you can’t sprint or jump. When I use it in Control, I always use it when I see enemies on the radar.
-
3 RepliesIt should only disable jump, not sprint.
-
I don't even know what that is lol
-
3 RepliesIcefall is good. The only thing it needs is the ability to manually end the shield, so that you don't have to sit around for 15-20 seconds after a fight, waiting to follow the rest of your team across jumps.
-
Icefall Mantles are pretty good, in concept. But not being able to jump or sprint is a bumer. It would have been nice to see a "cancel" promp mid protective barrier, that would increase cooldown, but would help cancel out of the barrier's penalties in situations that required jump or agility.

Totally agree
-
Make there be a way to cancel and add sprinting. That will help it immensely I think. And a buff for PvE to the shield health as well because why not
-
Am I the only person who loves this exotic and feels likes it’s actually pretty strong, you can tank so much damage close range it’s great, you just have to be smart with letting the shield run out so you can start running again but I love feeling like an actual tank for once
-
I think it would be perfect if they just removed the movement penalty. You would then basically play a game of durability vs mobility. Default Barricade's team oriented use vs Icefall's selfish use. Constant cooldown vs delayed cooldown. Keep in mind the default Barricade has 600 health. Kicking that down to 100 in exchange for being able to move is a heavy tradeoff in itself.

1 ReplyI play all 3 characters fairly equal and while I will agree with you, we sure got it made up to us with this season’s chest piece.
