There's nothing more unsatisfying to me than to see a new auto rifle entering the loot pool, only for it to be a 450.
It feels like such a waste of time to farm any of these because they lose to the other auto archetypes at quite literally everything.
They kill the slowest in pve and pvp, have a magazine comparable to 360s, less range than 360s and are almost always equipped with some crappy ass scope.
As an example, I decided to farm shadowprice because I like the nostalgic noise of the weapon as well as being a fan of the weapon back in the day.
It feels like it takes almost twice as long to kill red bars than it does 600s and it feels harder to hit headshots with it too.
They don't even feel as stable as our good 600s and I just cannot understand why they let them exist like they are.
Give them some damage, an rpm change, some range, a magazine buff, SOMETHING because every single one that enters the loot pool just leaves a bitter taste in my mouth because I know that no matter what roll it gets that I won't find any use for it because the base weapon feels like such a pain to work around.
I've made countless posts asking for auto rifle buffs and every single one has included 450s for a reason.
They haven't been worth a damn since year 1 and it's such a shame that they created them in so many of our older activities...only for them to be ass.
I see a 450 rpm, I farm it to vault it for the buff I KNOW they are going to get in the future, but when that is I'll never know.

2 RepliesBump. I want the Seraph Carbine to perform better. Its a good looking gun and deserves to feel good as well.

2 RepliesAutos in general need a big buff in pve. Not one right now compares to ikelos smg or rendition.

6 RepliesAgreed. My god roll shadowprice is weak. I mean it’s supposed to be a god roll. Auto rifles definitely need a buff

3 RepliesSpeaking as someone who's favorite primaries are 450 auto rifles, i am in favor of buff.

5 RepliesI was thinking the other day Autos’, Pulses, and 150/180 Scouts should fuse and get a damage buff but also change ammo type, make them Special weapons this allows their damage to really escalate in PvE encourages mod use. I know at first sounds a little weird but I think honestly since smgs got on the scene they could’ve gotten away with this it would’ve changed the Double primary Meta as well. Making their damage count for higher this would then force Machine Guns to step up, making them be more of ammo warehouses (meaning the will always have better reserve game naturally then say an Auto Rifle but the damage and accuracy of the latter will be a reason one still might want it in ones load out.

I've been sticking with Horror Story forever because I'm disappointed with every new auto. I can't stand the sound HS makes, but I use it anyway. Too many of the new autos, SMGs, and pulse rifles have maddeningly small magazines, too, which isn't great for clearing swarms of adds.

Agree, they also need a buff in PvP, just a bodyshot damage buff, not precision

6 RepliesI think I've done something like this to another post. It's kinda a similar topic so I'll try it here once again. We'll see if we could get a conversation going. Now that we are here. We might as well explore this topic. I'm curious peeps. I've been gaming since the 70's. I've been around. And since this topic has been brought up. Let's talk about gun damage. It's like a thought experiment. What do you think about a gun system in games so balanced that everything you use gives out almost exactly the same damage output?... As a thought experiment, let's pretend that this is possible. We can try to suspend our disbelief for now or the impossibility of this task and pretend that we have something like this in our technology. Imagine a game with different gun types, and different gun archetypes, different gun designs, different gun sound effects, different shapes, looks, color, different names, etcetera, etcetera. But when you use any of them, they'll all have the same damage output no matter what gun you chose. The game is so balanced that whatever you choose to use, it feels so balanced your damage output on a particular enemy is always the same as using any other guns. The only difference is the weapon slot. Let's say in the primary slot, when you use a pulse rifle. It would take the same amount damage to use a pulse rifle as it is when using a scout or and vice versa. Or all pulse rifles of different archetypes would have the same output as the rest of the pulse rifles. Same with different scout archetypes, auto rifles, hand cannons, etc. Pretend that the game is so balanced that whatever you choose among this guns, your output would be exactly the same! Would you love having this in a game?... Would you play this game, and if you do, would you be satisfied?...Would you be happy with a system so balanced it doesn't matter what gun you use?... ... I thought so. That is a thought experiment about "Power Creep!" This will never happen in videogames unless the game will only make one type of gun in Primary, one type of gun in Special, and one type of gun in Heavy. But where is the fun in that?... Here lies the rub. That is a dilemma that every studio faces when making videogames nowadays. "POWERCREEP" is never an issue because the devs of any game knows that they are selling powercreep to keep everyone playing their game interested in the game! If power is the selling point, then they'll always use this as a game system to fuel that thirst. The real issue now is making a game where powercreep is manageable and designing a game from the very beginning where powercreep can be manage accordingly without the gamers knowing it or inconveniencing them in the process, keeping the game still enjoyable in the process. Game design is key from the very start. Powercreep is the fuel of these games and powercreep is also the issue if the said game was poorly designed and was left unchecked from the very beginning of game conception. This is not an argument. It's just my own opinion after gaming for so many years. It's a subject that may bring out interesting conversations from all of us. Feel free to contribute. Peace, Out!

2 RepliesEdited by JazzyPaladin477: 3/7/2021 1:12:03 AMSeriously why is the pve adept weapon in the deadest of the dead pve/pvp archetypes. Might as well have given out an adept spoon.
-
Autos always need a buff 🤙
-
Bungie cater to the pvp player, pve is usually not even considered.
-
1 ReplyPrecision frames of all weapon archetypes needs a complete overhaul and buff. They are the weakest of every category. Precision from autos, scouts, rockets, linear fusions, hand cannons, etc all have the worst DPS and have been this way since the beginning. Time for them to shine!
-
Problem with Shadow price is it was made in the days of D1. Enemies were not "powerful". Scouts were the shizz.. Fatebringer was a blast and I didn't hate myself for playing this game. Bungie's been so caught up in telling us how to play the game they forgot guns need to make sense.
-
I knew a topic like this would crop up as soon as they announced Shadow Price’s return. I really wish they hadn’t brought this back because my idea was to merge 450s and 360s into a single archetype. This would be the Go To for auto rifle users that needed something hard hitting and could be used at longer ranges. I guess that’s a botched idea now. Unless they just go ahead with something like this with Shadow Price.

8 Repliesagree ..... auto rifles in general need a buff. my favorite meta is when the auto rifles are doing well . hate the hand cannon or shot gun meta but bunge seems to keep changing the meta which i think keeps the game from becoming stale.
-
1 ReplyThe shadowprice hype died real quick, I have a godrolled one sitting in the vault just incase they decide 450"s need some love
-
2 RepliesWatch instead of buffing 450s theyll just drop 600s down to 450s muchike they did to 150s and 140s in handcannons.

Edited by Veldrin: 3/6/2021 4:43:33 PMThe only decent autorifles for PVE are 600s and maybe 720s. SMGs (every archetype) do better DPS and closing gaps is fairly easy. If you need more range than any SMG or 600rpm ARs the answer is not to choose a slower autorifle but a different weapon type, because pulserifles have a better DPS, and if you need even more range every scoutrifle does a better job. A 200RPM scoutrifle does 3 times the damage of a 450 and you can tap them quickly and they are way easier to control and also have better scope/sights than 450rpm autorifle. And when I'm really stubborn and just "must" use an autorifle but want more range than 600rpm ARs, then I'd choose 360rpm ones, since even that archetype feels better than 450rpm. The new Omolon Mananan 200RPM scoutrifle (same archetype as the Nightwatch) is pretty good. I suggest using this instead of shadowprice, if you need more range than 600rpm autorifles.

Agreed. I tried out the various Shadow Price ARs I had drop and quickly went back to my Gnawing Hunger which was superior in every way. Pity. The Shadow Price looks and sounds good but that's not enough to justify using it.
