So I was playing in Freelance Survival and I got matched with this guy with blue armor + blue weapons. Despite that, he played really well and a couple of rounds into the match he switches to a Steady Hand + Frozen Orbit and starts clicking heads. He was acting really sus and didn´t miss a single headshot with his sniper for the rest of the game.
The game ends with our team winning 4/3 and I get a friend request from an opposing player who asked me why I didn´t leave. It was the best player of the enemy team and he cried me a river for not quitting.
I told him it´s not my fault that I got matched with a cheater, it´s Freelance and I would get a penalty if I quit mid-game. There is nothing I can do except reporting the cheater.
So what do you think, should you leave a Freelance match if you get matched with a cheater on your team?

As it’s freelance, being paired with a cheater is something outside of your control. Being a competitive mode, leaving will result in a penalty for yourself and potential restrictions depending on how often it happens. In this situation, best course of action if you suspect a teammate you’ve been paired with is cheating would probably be to report the person you suspect is cheating and then start going full lemming off the nearest ledge.

5 RepliesOf course you leave Or better yet throw It’s more about making the experience shit for the cheater because god knows bungie won’t do it. The “it’s not my fault I got matched with a cheater teamate” group is literally braindead If players took time to throw matches or leave when matched with a cheater Cheaters would have a terrible experience And CHEAT LESS But NOOOOOOO Players use the “it’s not my fault “ excuse because they are so desperate for wins

I'll report him. Bungie can't me if the Matchmaking paired me with a cheat. When match is over I would leave and wait till I was sure I wouldn't get matched with him again.
-
Bungie bans people who consistently play with a cheater for they're taking advantage of that persons cheating. Getting 1 cheater as a teammate in 1 match of freelance isn't what they're going to ban you for. If you got matched with them, then invited them to a fireteam and played multiple matches with them, then they'd ban you too.
-
5 RepliesBungie won't ban you for winning a freelance game with a cheater so just take the free win and move on.
-
1 ReplyDon t leave in freelance. You are not responsible for the mmaking. You don t have to endure the L's consequences.
-
3 RepliesHonestly you shouldn't be punished because this game doesn't have a good anti cheat if there even is an anti cheat.
-
Don’t play much comp but will throw lives if we have one on team
-
4 RepliesDo they give forgiveness for leaving those matches? Otherwise don't you get a strike for leaving a comp match early?
-
It would be advisable, yes. Just to be safe.
-
I'd spell losers correctly.
-
1 ReplyI played a comp game last week and someone on the other team was cheating, once that person’s teammates figured it out they started jumping off the map lol
-
2 RepliesI doubt it was a cheater. Who tf would risk cheating in comp. He was probably just a really good player.
-
I'd throw personally
-
I mean I think I would leave because if I get reported with a cheater on my team it’s probably not the best look
-
2 RepliesHell anymore blue guns are just as good as all the others anymore
-
5 RepliesSo how do you know he didn't miss any shots? What was your reason for thinking he was cheating? People used to put on blue armor as a joke. Or only blue guns. What else did he do that made you think he was cheating?
-
3 RepliesI’m too busy dying every 1.7 second to notice what other players are doing 😂💀🔫
-
I personally would never even notice. I don't care what my teammates are doing in a matchmaking activity, so I don't pay attention. I would have never even known they were wearing blue armor and using blue weapons tbh, because it's completely inconsequential
-
I choose option 5: No, just jump off the edge of the map a few times, and use up all the revives.
-
I doubt you will be punished for benefiting from the match since it was freelance as well as getting punished if you leave the match.
-
We're no strangers to love You know the rules and so do I A full commitment's what I'm thinking of You wouldn't get this from any other guy I just wanna tell you how I'm feeling Gotta make you understand Never gonna give you up Never gonna let you down Never gonna run around and desert you Never gonna make you cry Never gonna say goodbye Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you

1 ReplyIts not proven, its presumed. Unless you know for a fact (its a friend and they have aim bot or software similar) then you don't know so can not make a decision based on presumption or other beliefs that are not your own. Maybe he was a pro but went in looking like a armature to foil the other side. In trials they show what weapons we have before the game starts. I purposely show lame weapons and then change it because good players know how to play based on what weapons you have. There is a video on that. What is the Combat efficiency rate? If its high double digits then yeah, they are not getting killed and have something going on. Example. Player has 26 kills and CE is 26.0, that's a bit much, saw it and reported it.
-
4 RepliesIf don’t want to lose all your stuff then yes. Bungie has the right to ban you also if the cheater is on your team cause your gaining the benefit from the cheater
-
No! Nothing to do with you as it was in freelance, if it was a fireteam then that's a different story!
-
I’m not taking a penalty because someone else wants to cheat. I’ll jump off the map until game is over and then report.
