Seeing as how current gen consoles are rarer than Jesus on burnt toast, it’s probs gonna be a while until they are the “norm”. Are there any plans to add a FOV/FPS option on mid-last-gen consoles that are powerful enuf to accommodate?

Not possible

13 RepliesI’m pretty sure is D2 could run at higher frame rates and larger FOV on a PS4 and/or Xbox Bungie would’ve done it a long time ago. Find a gaming laptop that was priced the same as a PS4 back in 2012 and let me know if it runs D2 @ 60fps & 105FOV. Point= it’s not Bungie holding you back, it’s your hardware , buddy.

10 RepliesI have a series X and my FOV is at 75. It pisses of people for no reason.
-
Why would they spend the time required to implement variable FoV on a soon to be obsolete system.
-
3 RepliesTo add to the list Cod Battlefield Division 2 All have FoV sliders. Div 2s general graphics surpass Destiny 2s and yet still manage it. However Destiny may use more GPU straining effects... or an older, less able physics engine. I'm sure they will have tried it. I think even graphical compromises at highest FoV AS AN OPTION is better than no option. Especially so when FoV offers a competitive advantage.

those consoles barely run the game at 30fps, increasing the fov causes the console to have to render more, which will kill your fps even more.
-
12 RepliesCall of Duty Cold War has an FOV slider for PS4 & Xbox One. It can even go up to 120, where the max for Destiny 2 is 105. So I don't know what the reason is for Destiny 2 being not possible to go to 105 on last gen consoles.

Series S is pretty EZ to get hold of tbh.

I fully support the notion. But realistically I wouldn't hold my breath. Sooner or later d2 future expansions will go the same route d1 did. Instead of building content for the superior console, and dumbing it down for the inferior one, or more likely the reverse of that tbh, they're going to dump ps4/xbone entirely just like d1 dumped ps360 and make content exclusively for the current gen. I don't realistically see them spending time or resources on a platform that is going to be purged at some point in the not to distant future. Again, I do think it would be a great upgrade for old-gen systems. But doesn't seem likely.

6 RepliesI think they can add it hell if cod and battlefield allow you to use a FOV on ps4 and xbox one I see no problem they can't do it with there game.
-
6 RepliesThose consoles are weak and outdated; just let it go.
-
30fps says no.
-
I agree add fov slider for older gems consoles like ps4, Xb1 and so on. I dun see no reason to have one for older consoles. Black ops cold war has it for all version of consoles.
-
2 RepliesThere usually are not plans to add features like this to old gen, similar to how a Windows XP computer can't recognize a 4TB USB drive.
-
6 RepliesFind a low end laptop from 2012 then try running d2 on it. That's what the current/last gen consoles are
-
The thing is, they're not really powerful enough to accommodate. XB1X and PS4 Pro are CPU limited, CPU load would be increased with higher FoV and those consoles can hardly keep 30fps as is.
-
4 RepliesI think they would have if the hardware allowed it.

Are there any plans to add a FOV/FPS option on mid-last-gen consoles that are powerful enuf to accommodate?
you just spelt it out right there. there are no last-gen consoles that are powerful enough to fov-bump. This much has been said before
-
Nope. Keep hunting good sir.

1 ReplyBungie’s real time particle physics are just too much for such an old system.

1 ReplyEdited by AbsolutZeroGI: 3/3/2021 7:47:33 PMThe problem is the console isn't powerful enough to accommodate. Remember ya'll are consoled locked at 30fps while the next gen can do up to 120fps in the same game in PvP. They can't do 60fps at the current FOV, I don't believe it could maintain 30fps with a slider. You can look on reddit and such. Leviathan used to crash some people's X1X during leviathan if it wasn't perfectly ventilated. Happened to me. There's no way those consoles could handle an FOV slider.

Edited by Jonah-ralKenobi: 3/3/2021 7:20:07 PMI also feel like a normal console with a strong SSD could take it.

21 RepliesProbably not. They were straining trying to run the previous version of the game.
