Dead Man's Tale won't drop for me when I complete the mission.
I've done the mission twice so far, every time so far it's let take the weapon and then nothing. I get a random piece of gear when I complete it and that's about it. There is no marker telling me to speak to Zavala or anything.

Same here, 2x SOLO, no drop, quest did not complete. Zavala was blinking like I needed to talk to him but when I did there was nothing :/

1 Reply(For a probability fix go to bottom) Hello i had the same problem with the gun i had to run it twice because the quest didn't indicate that it didn't move on or finishe i think the problem is there is no timer. Fix: Wait for all dialog to finish then wait few seconds then loot and quest should appear.

2 RepliesSomething similar is happening to me... Yesterday I've done the quest in Master mode with my Warlock. Catalist quest picked up in the tower from the almost hidden "Quest Arhive Terminal". Mission done, catalist and a Tale was dropped. So far, so good. Today I did the normal version of the mission with my hunter, solo (Tangled shore / Exotic Quest: Presage / Normal mode, the Pinnacle icon was next to the quest). After I finished, there was NO Tale dropped, only 2 random gears with 1300 power (my power is 1305). Interestingly, the pinnacle icon disappeared from next to the quest on the map. Before I did, checked all the available quests, my list is empty. This happened also in the last week with my warlock. I was just wasting my time 2 times... Bungie: I want my 2 Tales, I worked for it hard (2 times solo)! I don't know it was becasue of the solo mode or something else, but I won't do the mission again, just wasting my time.

To ensure progress is recorded for “The Voice on the Other Side” quest for Dead Man’s Tale, players should make sure that they have the quest in their inventory prior to starting Presage. If the quest was originally acquired on another character, players will need to reacquire the quest on their current character from the Quest Archive at the Tower. Upon completing Presage, players will need to pick up Dead Man’s Tale and wait for the mission complete end timer to appear prior to returning to orbit. Failing to pick up the weapon or leaving before the mission completes will result in progress not being recorded for the quest. If repeating the mission and following the instructions above does not result in your quest progressing, that character is locked out of the quest for the week and can complete it after the following reset.

Make sure the quest isn’t in the kiosk

Do you have the quest on the character? Know the Catalyst won't drop unless you have the quest.
