I love Trials Gatekeeping.

3 guys all with the flawless title and Igneous Hammer (Adept). Love it. Yet people wonder why Trials is dying off slowly. Edit: Don't be toxic. Its one thing to argue, but suprisingly everyone has been very respectful thus far and has put their own opinions from both sides into perspective respectfully. If you can't do that I will report posts where it is neccessary and leave toxic people to the hands of the Mods and Ninjas to determine if their posts are following the rules. I advise others to do the same if people are getting out of hand with the toxicity. I can deal with toxicity towards myself since I come off as ranting, but everyone has been respectful to this post and me thus far and they deserve the same respect even if you disagree with their opinion be reasonable about it.

  • If trials was only for the PvP elite then anyone who didn't fit that category wouldn't be able to obtain a trials passage.

  • They've designed it this way purposely. There's even triumphs for getting wins after flawless. It just means me and the other average Joe's get slaughtered on entry. So many improvements need to be made to trials but honestly none of them are going to happen.

    • lock the lower 97% from top loot, it should die. kills game balance, creates cheating and recovs. half the current pop is cliff diving. 80% of the rest is recovs. the more they protect their precious the faster it dies.

      • Trials, and certain parts of Crucible in general, are in dire need of separate matchmaking queues. Players who have the Flawless or Unbroken Titles, or who have had X number of flawless tickets over the last Y number of weeks shouldn't be able to match against anyone who doesn't meet those same criteria. As has been identified many times, Trials population spiked last week because The Messenger was at 3 wins, and thus also available via the bounty. Had the new Sword been at 3 wins this week rather than 5, I'm sure the same would have happened again. I think my Trials experience last week was one that many people can relate to. My friends and I, who are good-but-not-great PvP players that don't exclusively use top-of-the-meta items, spent a couple of hours in there and won an entire [b]two[/b] matches. In the matches we lost, every opponent was abusing Stasis to its limits, they almost invariably had the similar loadouts of 120RPM Hand Cannon, Shotgun and Wardcliff Coil, there was at least 1 Unbroken or Flawless on their team, usually 2 or 3. In the matches we won, we played against people like us, who were just there for the gun. We gave up at 2 wins because we came across a blatant cheat in what would have been our 3rd win. Went 1-0 up, then suddenly an opponent is headshotting us all with a Sniper in every scenario. We go 4-1 down, the cheater somehow DCs, we pull it back to 4-4 just in time for the cheater to rejoin and normal service to resume.

      • You also got to love that the whole twitch Destiny 2 channel is nothing but recovery's, not even carries, just nothing but recovery's. The people that pay people to play their account to go flawless are pathetic. You are the problem with Trials, not just the cheaters. Learn to get good fools. I would all most bet that 50% of the trials player base so a recovery.

        • Bungie is literally endorsing paid recovs and carries. There is no other logical reason for trials to be what it is.

          • flawless v flawless. You want to brag and be the best, you play the best. I’ve hardly stepped inside of trials and never made it past 5 wins. So why am I playing 2.82 kda efficiency flawless kids in comp? Where is that fair?

              • trials is a self canibalizing systrem. win base card mods with loot behind them works like this.first weekend 100.000 player ( numbers are not real ) of these 100k 20k notis they will never get the loot and drop out 4 weekend into the future there are only 20k ppl playing this game mode divide this by 3 console this wil arvg you up with 6.3k players avrg in this game type. divide this true 4 time zone game is played in will leave you with 1,5k players divide these numbers true a card base win system, this wil mean that about 60% of the players end up on the low end of the card ( not skill included ) because everybody is skilled at this point the other 80k players who where not skilled droped out before this weekend. this leave the other 40% of the player base over win 4/7 on the card lets say a nother 30 % of the players lose on 4/6 on the card now you have 10% of the 20K players that still play this game mode end up at the last last game divided during your time periode at 7 wins game this will indeed put you up agaisnt the top 500. on top of this the bugg where new gen console will only face new gen this will make you play the top 250 at least because every dedicated player has a new gen. hope this explains what youre emotions are feeling.

              • Most players are just better than you, maybe some of those use cheese to win doesn't mean that they are in the wrong for trying their best. You think someone will let you win because they see you have a losing streak or something?

                • Jumping off the map is the most fun I've had in trials. Something about the wild, frenzied dash towards the edge. The rush of air as you plummet into oblivion. All before the hungry sweat lords, driven by their pent up virginity, can land a hit before u fall. Denying them any extra kd makes the sacrifice so much sweeter.

                  • Went in with a skilled team, beat a few super sweat teams, then came across cheaters and stasis crutchers ability spamming and only engaging when they had you slowed. trials is in an absolutely pathetic state right now, it was nothing but stasis spam when I went in there, out of 5 matches only 1 team didn't run all stasis and respectable load outs and that was our funnest and closest match.

                    • Once somebody gets 7 wins it should lock you out of trials so the sweats aren't in there farming constantly for their God rolls, it does it for pve so why not pvp. Also if you have people making money off of carrying people through an activity, then that activity is broke

                      • On Saturday I got to game 7 with no losses, was winning the game I was in, and then the servers crashed and we all got booted, taking away my mercy. Next day we try again and get matched against diamond elo players who had 50+ flawless runs and we lost 5-2. I've never felt so cheated from the lighthouse. Then I walk around the tower and see guys much much worse than me flaunting their adept hc's that they got through ghost lobbies, recovs, etc. Trials just feels like a rigged system that promotes cheating and toxicity, and any fair honest playing is not welcome or rewarded there.

                      • I think they just need to take away the losses lock out. I'm fine with being barred from the lighthouse but i think if people could get to 7 wins with enough tries more people would play and at least try. More people playing would result in less running into the hardcore players. But for people who suggest freelance it would have to have a no lock out and simply no access to the lighthouse. It would result in so much toxicity if people were stopped from going to the tower because they matched with a random that just dropped the ball.

                        • Aside from poor loot economy, lack of incentive for cattle class players like me and other trials' specific issues, there's a point many don't get. Trials' is an extention of regular Crucible. If regular Crucible is broken (which many say is the case) then Trials' must therefore also be broken. As cool as the idea of Trials' is for some, I believe Bungie would be far better served to fix the issues with wider pvp modes, that serve a much broader player base, before looking at more niche modes that serve a smaller cross section of players.

                        • Bunch of internet hard asses here talking isht. I thought it was a pretty good idea that if you go flawless there should be flawless matchmaking. Get good blah blah. The sweats would rather play people that don't sit and game all day than "even" competition.

                          • Flawless should just be the start of it really. People are after the stuff more than the "glory" itself, that's why this happens, if you had an exhibition playlist that just gave more outright and was separate from the flawless track, then you'd actually give people a reason not to gatekeep. Nothing about it though should feel overwhelmingly [i]necessary [/i]because it's still Trials and Destiny PvP, aka Hell on Earth

                          • I think a tiered ranking system will go very far. So let's say those who have hit flawless after certain number of times that starts taking into effect the type of people you go against. Or maybe number of wins I'm not sure. But something that looks at preventing the farming of newer players. Sure there may be ways around that, but it requires you to make a new character almost every couple weeks, and every character must be raised to a certain point to even be a viable. And maybe even the rewards once you hit flawless can be better So instead of just hitting flawless and resetting, what if after you hit flawless and the longer do you keep your flawless streak The more adept weapons you get, the more adapt mods you get and it becomes extremely rewarding however it is also extremely hard to keep it at that point. High risk high reward.

                          • Bro the first time I played trials once it came back to d2 we had 6-0 card 7th game against absolute gods. I understand the competitive nature of the playlist but good god why is it always the last match that just ends in disaster every time

                          • Over all it's just not a rewarding game mode to play unless your the top tier or willing to pay for a carry. It's sad when the lfg boards are filled with posts about throwing match for bounties. They need to award tokens based on rounds won, this way the winner gets 5 and the loser get between 0 and 4. Also they should add random drop chances for trials gear for match completions. Possibly separate flawless players from the rest. Meaning once you go flawless that week, then you can only be matched with other flawless players.
