Dead Mans Tale wont drop, tried running the mission multiple times.
I'm trying to help a friend get this weapon. We've run the presage mission multiple times, and the gun won't drop for him. He has the season pass, and the mission show's up on the map for him. We've tried having him be fireteam leader and start the mission, and I've launched the mission. What are we missing? (Yes, he is taking the gun from the dead guardian).

Bruh. Here I am trying my a** off hoping to get the gun and after beating the boss, grabbing the gun, then being told to go to zavala by OSIRIS, I was really excited to finally use a gun I see so many people trying out in the crucible. When I got to zavala I just had regular vanguard stuff on my screen. This pisses me off because I spent 2 hours soloing this mission and to not get it the first time is absolutely ridiculous. Why should a quest involve RNG????? It makes no sense. There's no point in me spending hours on a QUEST for one single exotic. Might as well put it into a raid. Fix your game bungie.

I figured it out, for some reason if you did it on a different character the mission is in your Quest archive. which was strange because I didn't abandon the quest.

I just played the "haunted ship" (Dead Man's Tale) mission several times today without a single rifle dropping. I just played it solo and again, no drop!!! I love this mission but will stop playing it because this is just too ridiculous. And yes, I got the quest days ago from the strike then completed the mission. I did get a rifle drop last week. Bungie! You owe me about five Dead Man's Tales. LOL! BTW...One of the best exotic weapons quest I have ever played and I have been playing Destiny since day one beta. Love D2 now but the bugs are getting troublesome. I know you are trying your best so keep up the great work. SilverShark007

I just did the quest, got the gun from the body and exhausted the dialogue and nothing. Got my a** beat at that second fight section for 30 minutes for this? No gun? Why the h*** didn't the quest update and why the h*** can't I got back in at my last objective point then? That seems incredibly dumb and I just came back to this game hearing that sunsetting will no longer be a thing going forward so I thought why not try playing again. Did all the intro season 13 jazz and now I get this shoved in my face... thanks Bungie real piece of work game.

After the latest update destiny 2 cause multiple abandoned quests I was not awarded dead man's quest either as the mission was active but exotic quest was in the archive due to a system glitch.

Yep not dropping for me either. Spent a couple of hours soloing it so disappointing that its bugged. Hopefully will be fixed at next reset.

So just checked the quest archive an had abandoned this quest on my titan and warlock (o no I didn't). I picked up the quest originally on my hunter but completed on my titan. I now have the quest on my hunter titan and warlock an will try again hope that sorts it lol (prob my bad for picking it up on all 3 but thought it auto pick up on them all).

It’s bugged or they’re purposely restricting the drops per account. I did get my pinnacle drops for my other two characters after my first one received the random rolled gun.

Although I had done the Ams Dealler side quest, been given the pep talk by Zavala, and had the mission location available on my Directory, I noticed I didn't have it listed on my quest page. After a bit of searching I checked the abandoned quest kiosk, and there it was. For some reason I had to re-acquire it for all three characters. That was the good news, the bad news was that I got all the way through the mission again, right up to the point you have to throw the switch in the hot room to fight the boss in the basement, but for some reason the heat wont switch off. The switch moves, the light goes from red to green, but the heat stays on. If I tried going in the room again the switch doesn't respond at all. Tried dying, scared off the boss, killed the adds, operated the other two switches, but the switch in the heat room doesn't activate. After trying everything I could think of (multiple times) I finally went to orbit, hoping against all hope it would give me a checkpoint . . . nope, I have to run the whole thing again. I'll probably try again tomorrow, but I'm fast losing interest in doing it again.

3 RepliesI ran it on my first character and it dropped. The next two no gun or pinnacle gear. Just two random legendary items drop instead at or below my power level.

Ditto, same problem, three completions and no reward. Got the triumph. Waited for the timer to run down etc. Two different characters,wtf.

Just ran the mission for the first time, and was really pleased I managed to solo the final boss fight (not too bad once I worked out a better load-out and how to run him in figure 8 loops so I could hit and run him). However, I got to the end room, took the gun, listened to the end dialogue, got told to go see Zavala . . . and he just blanks me completely. Nothing, nada, squat. After such a good quest, it was a real buzz kill not to get the gun. I'll probably wait until reset to try it again (just in case), but I wont look forward to it, knowing that it could happen again.

This might seem like a dumb question but did you wait for the mission complete thing to come up on screen? It takes unusually long to pop on Presage for some reason. I don’t think the quest updates to go to Zavala unless you stay until the mission complete displays.
