Presage (SPOILERS!!): What happened to Mars (theory)

In the new Dead Man’s Tale exotic quest, Osiris mentions that with every world that The Darkness took, a strange anomaly was left behind, like a void in space. What happened? My theory is this. The Darkness probably sent the worlds to another dimension, where it’s will is law, the inhabitants forcibly transformed into it’s servants like The Taken. Those anomalies that Osiris and Calus find are probably portals to that dimension, and judging by what happened to that Guardian on the Glykon, I think that Sloane, Vance, and the others who stayed behind to face the enemy head on met a disturbing fate. This in turn makes The Darkness an even more disturbing, mysterious entity. But, that’s just my theory.

  • I always thought that they disappeared in the same manner as the missiles Asher shot at them, put into a form of Stasis where they're invisible and held in place. Perhaps it is a portal that took the planets though. Would explain where Calus went. Hell, perhaps the two forms of disappearance are one and the same.

    • That's plausible. Since the Hive power to create Throneworlds comes from the Darkenss, the "main weapon" of the Dreadnaught was Oryx literally taking the boundaries of his Throneworld and pushing it out into real space. So it stands to reason that the Darkness would be able to do something similar when it wished. Plus the goal of the Darkness is not to destroy things...but to get various forms of life to destroy each other in service of its creative destruction/evolution through conflict ideology. So its goal when it acts directly never seems to be to destroy but (like the Shadows in the TV series Babylon 5) to instead be PROVOCATIVE. To do things that are provoke fear, anger, ambition, greed, etc.... So that living beings act against other beings in service of the ideology (The Shadows had a similar ideology that drove their actions though their powers were more due to being 1 million years+ advanced in terms ot technology and evolution, instead of raw magic).

          • It makes sense. If that realm that the darkness rules is the one the stranger came from that’s as taken by the darkness, I can see it. Maybe in Lightfall Earth is transported to this place and we have to free it from the darkness

            • honestly i’m on board with this... do you think the worlds were changed, and have the same type of look the ship had? you know, with the weird flora, spores, and blue-swirling portals? now that i think about it, it kinda reminds me of the upside down in stranger things! huh...
