I can somewhat understand the reason for sunsetting weapons, with the whole changing up the meta thinking, but why armor? Armor doesn't have unique perks or optimized rolls. If it's for the reason of switching up armors so people don't wear the same thing constantly, then that doesn't make sense since universal ornaments are a thing (I don't even remember what base armor I'm wearing thanks to ornaments). From what I can tell, players go for the randomly rolled stats of the armor so sunsetting makes investing in good armor feel worthless. I mean, might as well wear blue armor since everything has a shelf life now.
If there is an actual reason for sunsetting armor, please let me know. Since all it does for me is cut my incentive to play the game more.

1 Replythey just want us on the hamster wheel. Pretty much with the announcement of sunsetting including armors. I found my god roll armor during arrivals. I am literally using it until the season where it cannot be infused and then I will look for good stats then. Effectively, I was able to ignore all armor rolls during Season of the Hunt, Chosen, and w/e comes after. Essentially, to me, bungie has made half of the loot irrelevant to me for a year with this system, whereas before i was constantly min/maxing stats and testing builds.

1 ReplyI’ve decided this about sunsetting: Screw it all I’m playing the game with the armor and guns I want to use as long as this is a game I still want to play. If the day comes it actually stops me from being able to progress at all then that’s the day I’ll put the game down. I love the idea of giving Bungie the finger over their philosophy on sun setting by refusing to do it and continuing to play.

thats what i've been saying, makes 0 sense, and to make it worse we still get armor drops from season 10
