The young dwarf, Dain Dunnaxe, happens to be walking by that part of town at that particular moment, whistling a tune as he goes. He is downed in a simple brown tunic and a vest, and wears a pair of soft boots. While not armored, the stout man carries a bearded axe with a long shaft that he uses as a walking stick, ever aware of the dangers present in such a city as this. When the dwarf sees the building seemingly appear out of thin air, he leaps back in shock. “What in the blazes? That be a smithy if I e’er heard one.” He mutters to himself. It takes a few moments of him staring in disbelief, whilst stroking his long chestnut beard with his left hand, for him to make up his mind on what to do in face of such a unusual sight. He decides to investigate, approving and knocking on the building door with the back of his axe if it is closed.

  • The front door is open, and you spot a tall redhead woman sitting inside next to a blazing forge, oblivious to the heat.

  • The dwarf is used to working in such heat as well, although not immune to it in any way. Upon seeing the woman, he lowers his axe and knocks the butt of it on the ground to signal his approach. “Hail lassie. Are ye aware that yer building just appeared out of thin air? What e’en is this place if ye don’t mind me askin’.” The dwarf asks in as polite a voice as he can, and in his best English he can speak.

  • "Oh hello Dain. Sorry, I shouldn't know that. Still getting used to this mantle. This is a forge I decided would be useful for my contest here. And yes, I moved this building here."

  • The already perplexed dwarf scratches his head, quite flummoxed at the lady’s words. “Gettin’ use to this mantle? What’s that supposed ta mean, and how do ye know my name, I didn’t think meself that popular. T’would I e’en be wantin’ to know how ye summoned her building here?” The dwarf seems quite interested in this whole situation, but rather suspicions of it all. He hasn’t been long in the city but knows enough to know that strange occurrences happen quite often, often heralding disaster.

  • "I mean mantle as in I'm a Grey Lady, and I know virtually everything just by thinking about it. I simply moved it with a snap of my fingers."

  • The dwarf steps back a bit, baffled by the power she claims to possess. “Tisn’t my place to know what a grey lord is, but Yer telling me that ye know everything there is to know? Explains how ye know my name. An ye can just move buildings on a whim? Must be some mighty high expectations ye have for whatever competition you are hosting, if ye don’t mind me saying as much.” He doesn’t step back further but avoids his gaze, almost afraid of the power of this place, but deep inside quite curious about what she has in mind with a forge.

  • "Well Dain, I prefer the people on the lower end of the power scale, you for example. Sylver is a great teacher, mentor, and dare I raise myself, friend, but he does not place value on relationships, he and a few others are the few that can match me for strength and sheer knowledge."

  • “Lower end o’ the power scale? Hey! I can swing me axe better an most here; meself be a dwarven warrior!” He proclaims proudly, oblivious of the martial prowess, sheer power, and magical ability of most warriors here. “I don’t mean to intrude, but I have to ask, how do ye even get such power? I wouldn’t e’en want ta be able to be able ta do all ye can.”

  • "It took a request from my father to Sylver, and a good long time of training."

“I can understand te second part, but ain’t gotta clue who this Sylver is, besides some powerful folk if he can do all oo this an more. Anyways, I ain’t want intrude too much on Yer personal business. What type o’ contest are ye hosting?”

  • "It's a contest for making a trident. Do you know what a trident is? If not I can show you, and I'd be happy to put you down for a submission, even if you're unexperienced with it."

  • “A trident ye say? Aye I know what one of em’ is, I’ve seen fishermen use em on occasion. I can’t say I know how to use one or forge one at that, but mayhaps I can try. It ain’t a dwarven weapon, so can ye show me one so I know what to work towards?”

  • He seems a bit surprised that she just reached into the forge but then remembers who he’s talking to. “Aye, that ain’t seem to hard to make, nothing I’ve done before. Could ye perhaps point me in the direction of a library or somethin’ of the sort. I need to be knowin’ where to find materials and refresh meself on forging techniques an that sounds like the best place to start.”

  • "Of course! Here are the rules. 1. Document materials, enchantments, appearance, and how you made it, quite meticulously. 2. Note that if you with to receive a prize when you place, you will lose your creation. 3. You may receive an offer if you don't place to be compensated for the weapon, with your consent of course. 4. You have exactly 1 week to make it." • "Yes you will be surviving! It may be underwater but you know as well as I do that old books don't smell as nice as they usually do underwater. There should be books in there on that...I would help you, but I can't as I am the judge."
Should I be mentioning anything else on the enchantments bit or is your DM magic up for having Dain figure it out sufficiently?
“Then I best be to work... yet I ain’t sure I’ll be able to get te enchantin thing down.”
Perhaps a little bit more information would be helpful. Watson would likely be able to figure out how to put a light enchantment on a weapon, but Dain probably wouldn’t. He is not nearly as experienced in the ways of magic as the knight, especially since Watsons best friend is a powerful mage.
