    [b]Statement :[/b] The issue is related to AVX (Advanced Vector Extensions) and AES-NI trying to force into the non supported CPU's to register instructions on data, process isn't working due to runtime error for exception illegal instruction. Not all CPU's support AVX. Generally, CPU's with the commercial denomination "Core i3/i5/i7/i9" support them, whereas "Pentium" and "Celeron" CPU's don't. Any CPU's before Sandy Bridge (2nd generation) 2011 by Intel won't support AVX technology. If you did not understand anything past this point, it does not matter. I don't understand computer code either. What you must understand is the watery bulbous meatbags working at Bungo are at fault, I suppose I should not call them such, not to refer to them by their meatbag status in the future. [b]Analysis :[/b] Additionally, If you get an instruction exception error of the AES-NI extension set in your dxDiag logs or in your crash logs AppData\Local\Temp\Destiny 2\crash_folder\pc_x64 then you most likely can't launch the game because of non supported AES-NI x86 instruction set architecture for microprocessors from Intel and AMD before 2008. [b]Observation :[/b] For instance, a old 2008 Bloomfield i7-950 CPU will get an AES-NI extension set error like "AESKEYGENASSIST" in the crash logs because it doesn't support AES-NI instruction sets. Some newer processors like the (9th and 10th generation) do not support AES-NI. [b]Query :[/b] If your CPU is overclocked and you have AVX by setting "CpusupportsAVX" to 0, you will get an instruction set error. Try turning AVX offset to 2 which puts those instructions back on. Don't mess with any overclocking settings, if you don't know what to do, you could potentially overheat your processor and cause severe computer malfunction, I do not suggest to take this course of action as it would be bad for your computer. [b]Commentary[/b] : The liquidious bipedal fleshbags working at Bungo, need to disable the silent force check for AVX or people with older or newer CPU technology that don't support the above instruction sets won't be able to launch the game on steam. [b]Temporary fix[/b] : If you know how to access your bios, switch your mobo AES-NI to ENABLE under advanced settings CPU configuration. Save your bios settings and restart your computer. [b]Explanation[/b] : If your mobo doesn't have AVX or AES-NI support like me then you need to wait for the organic meatbags working at Bungo to implement a fix because you have a newer or older generation processor with no AVX or AES-NI support. A CPU which does not support AVX or AES-NI code can of course not run AES-NI and AVX-specific program written with AVX or AES-NI in mind on an incompatible x86 CPU: it simply doesn't recognize them. That would be the equivalent of trying to start a car engine with incompetent organic meatbag matter as fuel.

      EDIT: A hotfix has been deployed to Steam to resolve this issue. Please download the hotfix then completely restart Steam and try to start the game. If you're still having issues launching the game, please let me know.

        [b]Alternative Solution :[/B] Those who are able to start the game but encounter crashes when trying to access an activity could be related to AVX 3D shader performance. Those who have a GeForce GPU should have a folder named nv_cache in their GeForce driver temp folder. Delete everything inside this folder including the avx.dll files, this will clear the shaders used by AVX performance. You will notice a drop in frame per seconds and slower loadings at first. This is normal. Your GPU has to recycle the shaders you just deleted. Deleting those files will not harm your computer. However, this will cause significant (temporary) performance drop with other games which may use AVX performance technology. You can also disable shader caching by going directly into your Nvidia GPU driver settings.

      • still no fix Bungie, My Computer more than met ALL your requirements , this isn't my fault what you have done. I want all my money back that I paid in good faith, I still have seasons 13,14 and 15 that I haven't been able to play. This sounds like a legal matter, well it is going to be.

          At this point the silence from Bungie about this issue is deafening. An update would be nice. This is now the third night many of us can't play the game.

May be it would be helpful to be aware about that these people, are still supporting you and your product, because they love it and its an amzing peace of art.                 • How long to wait for a solution to the problem? Why is there no feedback? Who will make up for the lost progress that could have been made during this time? I specially took the weekend for the new season, but in the end everything was in vain. Why such a disregard for their players?

This is now unacceptable , I paid for a game ( Forsaken, Shadowkeep and Beyond Light with all the season passes) that WORKED before season of the Chosen right up to the time it was taken off line for the update. Don't give me...well turn this on and turn that off...It is just plain BAD coding and and the fact that so many people are having major issues and not hearing anything about solutions on Bungies end and what they are doing to remedy situation on this message board and twitter is appalling which takes this into just simple BAD BUSINESS on Bungies part. You put way to much emphasis on the Eververse store than fixing core issues in game and if I cant get into the game then I can't even spend money there I am surprised after the long history of Bungie breaking their own game time and time again that someone has not brought a class action suit. I just want to play a game that I paid for and really enjoy. In the end what that means is no more money from me for Bungie or for that matter the people I support in the streaming world because without a game to play so there is absolutely no reason to follow them and pay them for their work as well so everybody loses. Get your act together and get me back in my god damned game, what ever you did to the instruction set this time around disable it and for once just make people happy

                    I just want to play the content I bought. I bought the last 2 expansions because I liked to play. I am not a tech. I am not comfortable messing around with any of the possible or recommended fixes. I could play it on Monday and now I cant play it anymore. It's been 2 days. I know there are lots of folks experiencing issues but this has happened to me the last 3 blanking seasons! Could you please fix it soon.

                      I still can't get D2 to start. When is Bungie going to fix this issue? I opened steam late Thursday afternoon and found a update waiting. I ran the update and now the game runs fine. Thanks Bungie for fixing the problem

                    • Same here. Game crashes out silently after all hot fixes. Never done this before. Cleared NV_Cache, ran check disk, reinstalled the game. nothing helps. DxDiags says everything seems good. Other games work (PoE, Forza 7) all running from the same SSD
