I'm sure there's something upstairs at Bungie going on that prevents them from doing this, but as it stands: Enabling Cross Save on PC requires us to buy DLC twice in order to have a full transfer.
New players have no incentive to do so; especially since DLC transfers over to newer consoles for free, which play nearly identical to the PC version.
What's the point of using cross save on PC then, when the same thing exists for newer consoles, and they get a bigger benefit out of it? I don't understand; if someone can explain it to me, I'd appreciate it!

Iirc seasons do transfer over, but expansions can't be carried over due to licensing on different stores. Hopefully with crossplay they start binding expansions to your bungie.net account if possible.

Each platform wants their cut of the money. Because you're playing on the infrastructure they created and pay to maintain. Because the none money you gave to Sony so you could play Destiny on PSN, goes to Steam....and if youre going to play Destiny on Steam's servers, they want their cut.

Going from PS4 to PS5 is free because the license through Sony was already paid for. Same with Xbox, if you paid a license fee to Microsoft it doesn't matter what generation of Xbox you play it on. Going from console to PC is a whole different thing. Sony won't give up the money you paid for their license to go to a competitor. Same for Xbox. Like buying a Dodge and expecting Chevrolet to honor warranty work... not going to happen.
