Dear Bungie,
In regards to your latest twab which announced 15% nerf to sword damage just because 65% of the pve community use them the majority of the time. The usage of swords isn't just tied to damage it's also, at least in my case, the fun factor some people just enjoy using swords not just for the damage but also because it's just fun to hack and slash through enemies. I feel like instead of nerfing sword damage you should have looked at heavy weapons in general and brought their damage up because the way I see it is that we currently have special weapons that completely out class most if not all of our heavy weapons. Some suggestions I would make would be
1. Balance weapons based on their class like heavy against heavy and special against special because aside from exotics no special weapon should out class a heavy weapon
2. Based on current dps numbers weapons like linear fusions (excluding sleeper), whisper, and darcie should be moved to the special weapon since they are pretty much in line with other specials in the game
3. Look at weapon classes like this 1. Primary damage should be geared towards minors and majors 2. Specials geared towards damage against majors and ultras and then 3. Heavies being geared towards damage against ultras and bosses now obviously each will be increasingly effective against the class below it with primaries doing the lowest damage which aside from exotic class weapons is exactly how it should be

Stop balancing around usage rates
Balance my buttcrack! More like pushing a meta. They buffed the swords months ago. Then brought out some new swords a couple seasons ago. Now they're gonna nerf them because of usage issues?. . . 😂😂😂 Powercreep is a lie! Now they're buffing a few guns, rockets and fusions? Because of what . . . Usage issues?. . . 😂😂😂 Sunsetting is a lie. This looks like a controlled meta. Pushing guns because of usage issues. 👈 Hahahahahahaha! What an effing joke! Game is for kids if you need somebody to watch you all the time and then tells you what to do. 😂😂😂 Like having a babysitter hold your hand while you play! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 I'm back MFs!

4 RepliesPerhaps JG Wentworth should get into gaming😜

10 RepliesBungie: Here are a bunch of sword bounties, plus a mission you need a sword for. Players: OK, we'll use swords. Bungie: 65% of players are using sword. Nerf swords.

17 RepliesI just think it's hilarious that they introduce a quest Exotic, which is an overpowered Sword and pre-nerf the old OP Sword (Guillotine) so that we'd use this new fancy one they like so much. Then they use "usage data" to justify nerfing ALL Swords afterwards. Is it any wonder people continuously say that this team doesn't know what they're doing?

7 RepliesI've leveled up over 9 characters in my time grinding. Climbing, your weapon drops are high and armor drops are low, slowing advancement. Maxed out, I'm finding higher armor drop rates than weapons making them about the same. This is because you can share weapons but not armor. So low armor drops during leveling up slow you down. EVERYTHING is designed around slowing you down forcing you to grind longer. And we still have an exotic sniper-rifle & shotgun in the heavy category that are barely worth being special.

7 RepliesSo many use them because of the way Champions are and the unreliability of anti-Champion mods for other weapons... When we eventually stun an Overload Captain, there is a very small window to finish them before they teleport and recover all shields and health. So rushing them with Heavy sword attack does the job better than anything I can find

There would be a wider variety of weapon usage if certain weapons got the buffs they deserved. Rocket launchers have been needing a major buff for a long time. Forget the usage rates Bungie and actually consider what weapons are being used. Swords got overly used because they were actually good for dmg. Maybe if other things were also good for dmg you'd see those usage rates change.

Edited by blade329: 2/10/2021 4:03:45 AMIt's just a weird game philosophy, if you ask me. "Players like A, so let's nerf it and buff B. Uh, oh, players are using B more, so let's nerf it and buff C instead. Rats, now they are using C a lot more. Let's...uh...wait, what were we trying to accomplish again?" -- Bungie

Rocket launchers weren't being used much because we nerfed them, so we buffed them. Swords were being used too much because we buffed them, se we nerfed them. The cycle.

This post better get a reply from Bungie. Spot on.

Edited by KalelKryptonian: 2/9/2021 8:54:49 AMWhy is it when the players use a weapon the most they NERF it. Or if there's a cheese that makes the game play better they fix it really quickly yet there are bugs in the game that reduce the quality of game play still haven't gotten fixed. Is as if they are just trying to suck the fun out of the game

Their nerf to swords because of usage is ridiculous solely because they purposely over tuned swords and gave us the two strongest swords the game has ever had. OFC people are going to be using them, especially when their only other opposition was nerfed or never tuned properly from the beginning. A full mag of grenade launcher makes overload champions in the lost sectors laugh. Rockets do like 1/6 of their health as they currently are. Machine guns are like pea shooters to ultras. Linear fusions...HAHAHAHAHAHAAAAA...no. So when a sword, barely, kills an overload captain before they get back up and full heal..people are going to rock that shit all day every day. Theres no reason to use weapons that burn more ammo for less damage. Sometimes utility does not bring more to the table than raw damage and sword usage proves that.

It's NEVER been about balancing its about changing the meta arbitrarily. They've been doing it since D1 and it's not going to change.

29 RepliesEdited by RopeAdope: 2/8/2021 4:10:10 PMDISCLAIMER ****This one gets long and there are no safe spaces. If you are easily offended by multisyllabic vernacular, opinions, conjecture, and paragraphs-well, skip it*** I agree but not for the same reasons. Allow me to explain I use whatever I want, meta-be-damned. No shade to the meta-monkeys. Do you If ppl can’t or don’t want to experiment or think for themselves because a streamer told them weapon A is the best because it has the lowest ttk in laboratory conditions, hey do you The rest of us creating wacky/fun/terrible builds are cool because, you guessed it, we doin our own thing and having fun in the process. Admittedly, it’s not for everyone. And that’s ok. The problems arise when the meta-monkeys jump off one bandwagon and try to hijack ours, whinging and calling for nerfs because they realize a lot of the under-utilized gear is pretty damn legit. Now y’all messing up our game. That ain’t cool.

6 Replies100% of Guardians wear boots. Nerf leg armor drop rates by 70%.
-
4 RepliesEdited by draycole: 2/9/2021 2:12:43 AMIt's incompetence, indifference, and intentional. They simply aren't capable of properly balancing weapons They simply don't give a damn And they do this idiotic buff/nerf cycle on purpose to promote seasonal meta's
-
1 ReplyEdited by Meaga: 2/10/2021 12:18:14 PMI don’t want to see more arbalest, no special linear fusions.

1 ReplyFun is the magic word. As soon as Luke sees fun he nerfs it. Somehow his life is worse if we enjoy swords. No one used them last time they were nerfed so they got buffed. That made them fun so we used them, which forced anti fun Luke boy to nerf them again. Fire the idiot.

I feel like this game should be called Destnerfy.
-
Sorry I didn’t read everything but I think I know where you are going with this I’m going to say Bungie doesn’t know what they are doing. They nerf something because people use it. They are using it because it’s the best or the strongest or whatever you want to call it. Instead of nerfing everything they need to start working on bringing the piles of crap up to par But that’s a problem since the first Iron Banner. Everyone used SUROS and it was awesome...nerfed it so hard it took 5 years to get back to be usable. There clearly is no brains or talent at Bungo anymore
-
They can nerf, I'm over swords now. Lol jk
-
It literally is the Laziest way to balance a game.
-
Bungie nerf because they are afraid of power creep. They are afraid of power creep because a small(ish) faction of people are able to race through content and then declare online, "Now what? I'm bored." Instead of creating more and better content, they keep people playing through nerfs, obfuscation of goals, RNG, time-gates, and other ploys. Outside of crucible, nerfs have nothing to do with balance, except for the balance of time spent in game.
-
If they really want to nerf swords then they should give us a little back. Make swords so they don't need any ammo. I use a sword all the time and they are fine as to the power they give out. But swords shouldn't need any ammo as they are a melee weapon, wonder if they know that?

Stop buying a 6 year old beta

2 RepliesEdited by doomshaman: 2/8/2021 1:41:47 PMSword nerf its just another form of sunset to artificially increase game time. Bungie nerfs just promote the hamster wheel, in this case put swords aside and grind for rocket launchers, rinse lather repeat. Usage rates, Bungie listening etc. its just building the narrative. Meantime its mostly just recycle, reskin, reuse, grind them all over again, play how Bungie wants.
