With Sunsetting, pvp being a dumpster fire, re issuing and generally Bungie not listening, it'd be a good time for a AAA game to leech players from destiny.
So with so much being promised from Outriders, will they come through and hurt destiny?
Will you be swayed towards it, if it delivers?
Interesting video linked, quite balanced in its for/against
Is this the end for destiny?

1 ReplyDestinyKiller No213 incoming!

To say it will hurt destiny is stupid but to say it won’t is equally as stupid. it definitely won’t kill destiny nothing can kill a game but if a game comes out and it does everything better than the competitors than the other game will definitely lose players take a look at pubg was making big bank till fortnite came along. 1 Reply
This is why live services don't seem like a sustainable business model to me. Once you've chosen one live service to devote your life to, what are you going to do next? Devote a second life to another one?
- a rough quote of Jim Sterling. Basically, everyone who gives a damn about live services has already chosen one they like. Which is why they always end up claiming that another "Destiny killer" has "failed." It didn't really fail anymore than Destiny. They never will. Because Destiny is shit. It's just, the people who care about that style of game already *have* a live service they have a time investment for. Not even they have the patience for a second one.

I think it is a waste of time in thinking if one game will kill another at an overall population level. What matters more to me is the opinions you hold and how your actions of your time and money being spent, will speak loader then anything else.

Big, solid doubt. Seen several games try to steal Destiny's thunder and fail miserably.

2 RepliesSo far, it looks like Gears of War with loot, and with "boring" space magic. Alternatively, it looks like Anthem, with better loot, less interesting skills, and no flying. Needless to say, I'm not sold on this game yet. However, I'm glad we are getting demo at the end of the month. SquareEnix releasing an early demo fills me with a certain amount of confidence. Being able to play something before you have to spend your hard earned money on it is always helpful.

Will I be playing it? Yes Do I have it pre ordered already? Yes Will it “kill” Destiny? No
-
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Oh boy here we go again
-
*looks out upon the mass grave of so-called “destiny killers”* No, I don’t think so
-
No, no, no, and a large fry.
-
Highly doubt it, everytime a new destiny or halo killer comes out they don't.

1 Replyevery time someone posts a new thread about a destiny-killer in the exact same manner as the previous 75,000 posts, the universe gets a little colder.

Destiny is doing a pretty good job at damaging Destiny. Don't think outriders could do anymore damage to Destiny than Destiny itself.
-
1 Replyautriders just another game to play when destiny have nothing to do, you know you can play more than 1 game

3 RepliesEdited by dumbdonut: 2/6/2021 9:52:53 AMNot likely, Another Anthem and Cyberpunk in the making. All show and no go.

Only destiny can kill destiny

If you think the game’s gonna be good, buy it and play it and see for yourself if it’s good enough for you to stop playing some other game. All this speculation beforehand is worthless in my opinion. You aren’t going to know beforehand exactly how it’s gonna play out compared to other games. Even something simple like the control scheme can break games and make an otherwise solid experience frustrating and unplayable, and that kind of thing is hardly gonna be an in-depth subject on a preview or speculation piece.

For me the only real "destiny killer" was destiny. And even then I still play it once in a blue moon
