I'm posting on behalf of a couple individuals, but I've wanted to ask this question for a while. Curated Rolls present a level of value to the player base.
Player 1: "Oh, wow I got a fully masterworked weapon!"
Player 2: "Nice, what'd you get - what's on it?"
Player 1: "Chattering Bone with Kill Clip and High-Impact Reserves."
Player 2: "Woow, that's actually really good."
Sure not all curated weapons were amazing, but to some players that was their trophy. They earned the curated weapon from that raid or forge (Last Wish & Black Armory in most cases). Transfiguration, the scout rifle from Last Wish, HAS the potential to roll with Rampage and Kill Clip, however that's not the curated roll... why not. I mean I have that roll, just imagine if it was the curated roll instead.
Point is curated rolls are valuable amongst the community. As long as you give players a clear path to grind a guaranteed well rolled weapon people will play the content. I don't know why you, Bungie, decided to presumably stop planning for curated rolls. That seems like a misstep.
Idea to Reintroduce Curated Rolls
It's very simple, why not give players a chance at a curated weapon roll for competing a challenge or ritual activity? That weapon drop could come from anywhere, like a weekly bounty, quest or consumable. As soon as that player would complete the activity they set out to play - the weapon would drop. The drop could be based on a pool of select curated weapons, not all weapons need a curated roll.
To my knowledge there are no Trials of Osiris weapons or even Gambit and Vanguard weapons. Heck - the Glory playlist could use something to grind for! There aren't any recent Raid or Dungeon weapons with curated rolls. Give curated weapon rolls to the players that truly want them, make them happy, reward their time.
