Probably an unpopular opinion *EDIT* it clearly isn’t.....but the old DLC model was FAR better than the trickle feed content we’re getting now.
Back then we got new strikes, exotic weapons/armour, ui changes, balance updates, story missions, PVP maps, entire vendor refresh and more in one single purchase. Sure you could blow through most of the content relatively quickly if you tried really hard but for me that was never an issue, and besides, it’s not like the 15 minute missions with one new lore tab (who tf cares) we get every 2 weeks are any better.
Back then a new DLC would bring me back to play the game a good amount of time but now? Yeeeeeaaahhh I’m really gonna play the game for a few more weeks to play that sweet 30 minute content... I miss when the game felt like it changed when a DLC dropped and the majority of the content was available to play on the day.
I’d personally rather a good dlc every 6 months that actually meaningfully changed the game with droughts in between than painfully bland dlc’s with mundane seasons in between that don’t even do a good job at stopping a drought.
I’m not a game developer but it feels like bungie is putting far too much time and effort into content that is played once or twice (which gets removed at the end of the season) instead of permanent additions to the game like PVP maps/playlists (WHERE IS RIFT?!?!), strikes or even tools to let us create our own fun.
Right now, nothing feels like it matters and we’re just on the same hamster wheel we’ve been on since forsaken came out.

Either model can work if there is quality content that is fun and engaging, that caters to a variety of players and playstyles, that provides challenges and chill times, with great loot to chase etc. The problem isn't how the content is delivered. It's the content itself.
