Can we please nerf hand cannons in PVP and actually give other types of guns a chance in competitive again?
In trials all you see is hand cannons ruling.
You can’t counter it with any other gun because hand cannons have ridiculous range and damage.
I don’t remember the last time I saw a scout rifle in PvP.
Needs to be changed to make the game fairer and more fun again.
I would love to use a pulse or auto and actually have a chance against someone with a HC.

What are you talking about that nobody is using a scout rifle? There are plenty of 120rpm scout rifles in the game currently like sturm, steady hand and true prophecy....
-
Scouts and autos are still good! And compete!’

Or felwinter. Or telesto. Or lord of wolves. Or, insert like any archetype at some point in destiny history. Are you people new? Or is your memory defective? There's always a best thing. And everyone crutches it. Everyone. Always. Make 720 autos the best, you'll only come across them. Make high impact scouts the best, you'll only come across them. Even if it's only better by 5% everyone will be using that. Pouting for nerfs only makes fun stuff weak and lame.

I hear what you're saying about H.C. in PVP you just have to go with flow man, find a weapon that works for you and just grind it. You will improve on your gunfights with that weapon. A good A.R. (Gnawing Hunger, Artic Haze, False Promises) I've gone 1V1 against H.C. and won and I've lost its PVP just part of the game dude.

1 Replyyou can use a pulse and auto, you probably don’t use them right, summoner slaps, mida, jade, randy’s all slap HC, you gotta position yourself in the right spot
-
only 120 need a range nerf,

2 RepliesHC can and do out - range /kill scouts and pulses , that shouldnt be happening, and everyone knows this to be true. bungie cant get anything right these days

So there are a few issues here. First, the issue with scouts is because of map size. The pvp community has been saying forever that we need some bigger maps. Do that and you'll see scouts and some more pulses. Less shotguns too. As for hand cannons, unless they get unfairly over nerfed, they'll always be the choice of top players. Part of it is habit. The best players in the game already use them and most don't want to change their loadouts. So even if they get a nerf you'll still get killed by them because they'll be in the right hands. On top of that, they offer the ability to peek shoot and shoot while on the move or in the air. Movement is the skill gap in destiny far more than gun play. So again, they'll be used for that utility. You'll also see a large population of the middle tier community continue to use them because they see the top.1% using them. Yes, other guns need to stand a chance (600 autos reigned for a short time and I do think it would have been fair to let that be longer. But they're still good now. Just not as good. And some pulses like cold denial and stars in shadow and especially no time to explain are very good. They just don't have the movement advantages HCs do), but even if other guns get buffed, people will still use hand cannons for the reasons I mentioned. Other guns should be usable by a wide variety of players... But in that case you won't lose the fight because of your gun. You'll likely lose it because you're playing someone with better movement.

There's HCs, and then there's fodder. This is the way of Destiny.

We literally just went through like 3 seasons where HC's were outclassed by autos, pulses, sidearms, etc. I'll agree that 120's are a bit too good but the rest are about perfect where they are. Scouts have always been bad because of the map design in D2. There's a reason why scout/sniper was the only loadout you'd see in D1 in the combined arms mode. As soon as big maps come back (if ever), scouts are gonna be top dog again.
-
Yeah sturm is just a mini sniper now
-
Its just this seasons meta, like last was auto rifles. Next season will be something else. Regardless of any meta tho, when you get into a match of any mode against high skill layers you will still see a dominant amount of hcs...always have because that's the most effective weapon type period. Just like last season..there were autos outnumbering everything in PvP but once you got up to higher ranks in comp you saw it balance out with autos again.

I think 120s 100% need range and maybe flinch nerfs. But 140s... I'm not sure, I think we'd need to hold off for the most part on those, see how it settles in without 120s being complete outliers. And 180s need to be buffed a little lol. But I'd nerf 120s, buff a few of the other weapon types up a bit, and see where it leaves things.

7 RepliesI was just using mida the last couple days. And polaris lance. And jade rabbit. I made people rage quit. Slept on. Criminally slept on.

3 RepliesEdited by DredLaP: 1/28/2021 2:03:29 PMBut, but , but, but, but, they take skill. Most balanced weps have ever been. Lol Its hc domination right now. In trials, HC’s are over 10 time the kills of the next primary, but its fine. When ar’s were 2 times, it was broken.

You can use scouts and pulse but you have to work a lot harder and you have to really work the map more than a HC user. I use Bow, Scout and Pulse mostly and do ok but it can often be frustrating facing nothing but HC users. A HC user can pretty much run around and engage anywhere, anytime due to the power of the weapon, it's flexibility and current map designs. Most maps offer ample cover where a HC user can peek shoot or compete at range if out in the open. They can also fire accurately from the hip and in the air. One thing that gets overlooked is the huge amount of flinch they create when you are ADS with a rifle. There is supposed to be a downside to using any weapon in certain engagements and the current state of the HC buff has made it so that it is the one weapon type that has zero disadvantages in pretty much any engagement.

5 RepliesIt's not all HCs, just 120s. 140s are in a really good spot balance-wise right now. 120s dominate from all ranges and have the most forgiving ttk. They need a range nerf and maybe even a slight damage nerf so that it can't 1 crit 2 body Guardians below 5 resilience.
