Solo players stiffed...again. Harbinger/prophecy rant.

Hey all, just getting a bit fed up with bungies approach to these for solo players where it’s designed for three and when someone solos it they lazily leave as it is and calling it a “triumph” as I’m trying to do harbinger and it’s just too hard. I have a suggestion which is to do normal and heroic versions, all they have to do is not put in so many freaking high level enemies. Otherwise it’s just leaving out us solo players. With everything else I’m starting to regret buying the premium dlc, if bungee are not going to change this then I’m not getting what I’m paying for technically. Update, have completed harbinger after many attempts. I have given up on prophecy dungeon as I swear it cheats as I take damage through walls. I have equipped taken and area of affect mods after research. And the boss is more of a tank now... freaking great. I still stand by my statement that designing a level/mode for 3 people then slapping a triumph on it and saying it’s a “challenge” for solo is not good enough bungie.

  • Idk man, solo flawless hasn't been that difficult in my experience. It's all about learning the mission/Dungeon and enemy locations + persistence/practice. I'm not saying they're easy, but it doesn't take many attempts to get them done in my experience.

  • I'm glad you can solo flawlessly, most can't. It's not a solo mission, its the same as trying to do a nightmare solo. Stupid hard for one person, imo a very bad move Bungie. If you don't like it, you leave the ecosystem. By Bungie, it was a great ride but I'm missing too much material as a solo player to get my money's worth. Its just a big waste of time even during covid,

  • Solo flawlessly both. It’s just learning the encounters. Harbingers boss this weak threw me for a loop because of the psion ptsd prophecy gave me. Just learn when to switch out weapons depending on the encounter and consider the shield types for harbingers match game. Good luck

  • I've been a solo player my entire destiny career. The game isn't made for solo players, just the truth. I wish there was more activities ...REWARDING ACTIVITIES for solo players, blanket matchmaking, solo queuing But it's just not happening with this game. So I just play pvp, check out the fake new content every new season and don't get my hopes up. Destiny had become a pickup and play when bored kind of game for me.

    • To be honest I'm not sure why there isn't matchmaking on this. It doesn't really require any communication aslong as you have a rough idea of what's going on.

        • I wouldn’t mind soloing Harbinger if the enemies weren’t taken as the taken are the most annoying enemies to deal.

        • Soloing these missions is actually more fun than most other things in this game. You actually need to think about your loadout, positioning, and strategy, and then take the time to learn the enemy spawns and practice. When compared to mindlessly blasting through easy content these are a thousand times better.

        • This is a solo mission that is easier with a team of three. If you are having trouble, then you are doing something wrong.

        • Man 99% of the game is for solo players. You also seem to be confusing “difficult to solo” with “impossible to solo”. I started working on solo Prophecy today, having never attempted Prophecy before. Only up to the second encounter so far. The first encounter kicked my ass for a few hours until I got the mechanics and timing down and settled on a loadout and build that worked. Once I did it was easy. I’ll do the same with the second encounter, like I did with solo Shattered Throne and solo Pit of Heresy. Soloed them having never done them in a fireteam before. Everything is soloable. It doesn’t mean it’s easily soloable. The expectation that I wouldn’t be able to do it is what prevented me from attempting solo dungeons and master Lost Sector. I eventually gave them ago. If you stick with them, they get progressively easier. Give them a try instead of crying about there being no content for solo players.

        • I get where you’re coming from, but reconsider harbinger at least. It’s not very difficult to do solo. Even without a fully decked out build, it is very possible to get it done in 20-30 minutes. For prophecy, don’t Just expect to be able to solo it. Dungeons are meant to be introductions to raids as they have lighter mechanics but tougher enemies. They are meant for 3 players just like raids are meant for 6; it is easier the more people you have and doing low-man/ solo challenges should be what it is, a challenge.

        • Harbinger and Prophecy are perfect examples of how Bungie is creating content for solo players. These are both really good activities to play solo and offer and endgame challenge. On top of that, Legend and Master Lost Sectors are not only great solo activities, but also reward exclusive Exotic gear. While a bit harder, Legend Nightfalls are a pretty decent challenge as well for solo players. Let me ask you this, are you looking for solo content that is easy? If that is the case, let me suggest patrols and public events. And no, I'm not being demeaning, I'm telling you that easy solo content already exists in the game, it's called most of what's already in the game. Solo players have more challenging activities to do now more than ever.

              • Harbinger solo is easy af just grab a scout rifle or sniper and shoot from far away. Eyes of tomorrow helps out as well with the bosses. It’s not locked equipment either so just have arc,solar,void weapons ready to use for the yellow bars and acolytes in the first room it’s super simple.

                • I don’t understand your complaint. Harbinger isn’t designed for a 3 man fireteam, as there is no mechanic/s necessitating multiple players performing simultaneous tasks to advance. Same with the dungeons. They’re all designed to be completed solo. They’re not designed to be [i]easy[/i] to solo. But 90% of the game already is easy to solo. So what exactly is it that you’re taking issue with?

                • I solo'd it for my first run. And you aren't paying for achievement of everything, you're paying for access to it. It's like how if I bought dark souls, I'm not expecting for everything to just be there and within reach for me, I have to work for it. My payment was the barrier to entry.

                  Dont normally post, but I was able to solo after about 2 hours of practice. Here's what I did in the "hard" parts with 1265 titan Survive: Bottom tree Solar, because i like fire and healing. Kinetic bow for snipers, nature of beast for arc and unstoppable, guillotine for void and heavy takedown. Around the 10 o'clock area of entering the room there is a stack of boxes, hide there and plink at enemies. The kill arc barriers first, then draw unstoppable to you. When unstoppables get close to the boxes, they will literally stumble and can't get to you directly. HC till disrupt. Finish with sword. Then plink at snipers. Boss room. Switch to ad clearing guns, void energy, lament preferred . Charge boss with sword till he shields and runs away. Then hang out on the left ridge and take out shielding goblins first. Other enemies will keep respawning. Just hide from them and focus on the shield goblins. As soon as you get them all, a solar knight will spawn next to you. Lament it immediately and move to the rear of the map while staying in the left ridge. Jump over the gap to kill the other knight. Clean up remainders with void. Once everything is dead, boss appears. Rinse repeat. Key things: this event is not timed. Take your time, hide or retreat if it gets dicey. Shield goblins will keep respawning as long as boss is around. I also read that Arbalast will heavily damage any shielded enemy in this event but I haven't tried it yet. Its not easy, but it can be done. Also if you have already completed it once in the week with friends, you will only get the triumph . no loot drop sadly.
