First and foremost the approach bungie went was severley unplanned. They without a doubt had no idea the implications behind literally sunsetting everything in the game.
Now with that being said no one told you to delete any of your own armor and weapons. As it was stated they would still have use outside of light based activities.
So now thats our of the way let's dive into it. If you have whatever weapons you desire as a god roll and you decide to keep it that's absolutely fine. However if the gun is reintroduced with the same perks or not you should still be able to infuse it. However the reissue of the gun would become scarce if you already have a pre existing version of the gun. The old gun should be infusable to this seasons current versions lvl cap.
Which leads me to say only reissues can bring up your old guns lvl cap up. Theres a catch tho. It can't be auto infused to the max cap. It should go up by 10 or something for each weapon issued to it. Costing some more material then shards or moduels. Like you need x amount to get it to increase by a certain amount. You can keep your old rolls. However if you like the new perk pool delete your old roll to have better odds to receiving the said reissued gun. Other wise your odds of getting it again are really low. Since you have a preexisting version of it on your character or in your vault.
The new version of the reissued weapon However doesn't have infusion restrictions. Or bad rng.
Imo I think this respects player time investment. For you don't know how long it took for this player to get said gun. Still to this day people still dont have the roll they desire of specific guns in game or no longer in the game. Just look at d1 people still play crucible and still don't have their eyasaluna.
Also sunsetting entire weapon archetypes shouldn't be a thing if there aren't weapons to replace them.
