BL at its current state is not cutting it

Okay not going to do the: been playing since D1 this game sucks, I quit. Not really helpful. But there are some things a friend and I noticed that could really use some looking into to keep people playing. 1. Single players have to play harder and more than those with large clans. By this I mean, to increase your light level you have a very fast increase and then you plateau around 1250 because you are only able to get pinnacle gear from a small set of activities compared to non matchmade activities. You have to spend twice as much time to grind out those activities to move your lightened comparatively. 2. Where is the lore? My friend and I noticed the lore this season is interesting but, its a pretty small amount for even for the new dlc. We hope there will be more but also having it he relevant. There just isn't as much of it and we really enjoy it because it brings every character into perspective. Like right now...what on earth is ikora doing besides impersonating a statue. 3. Europa is a big circle of activities, but so is everything else. We are doing the same content over and over again with the only change being in difficulty. Why are we doing it - we gave that answer. What is the effect? Not sure yet, will we find out? Its unclear. But its do this 50 times over and over again! More variation in what we are doing would be good. With quests and even missions make it multiple steps like some already are but keep it interesting dont just make it hard, thats fun at first but after a while if its not interesting but just hard its going to be boring. 4. Triumphs are getting boring. My friend and I are completionists so we know we might be a touch more clinical of some activities but triumphs are getting too repetitive. Its not an issue with challenge level thats fine we like a challenge but! Do 40 heroic patrols on europa with a fireteam....we tried to do two and it took us two hours to just get two...we got tired of grinding patrols for hours and what we will get is just triumph points. Would be nice to see more rewards for triumphs. Make it some brigjt dust, glimmer, shaders, materials, just something that we can use in game that makes up for the grind we do. Doesn't have to be anything spectacular but at least worth the time put in. Look at other successful MMOs see what they do. They reward the time spent. 5. Grinding for better stat armor.... My personal pet peeve has been this, I play every night after work. I get thousands of pieces of armour a month...I break it all down or infuse it because higher stat rolls are so ridiculously rare that for the last year of playing I can count on my hands the number of better stat gear I got. One friend has gear that is about to be sunset the next season and for the past year she has yet to see anything better. This is making people very frustrated because the point in doing the activities is the possibility of getting better things...but that hasn't happened for a very very long time. 6. Some quests are still broken! The seasonal crucible quest is a good example, some of us.cant progress it because its bugged, its been reported and still has not been fixed after months. I know budgie wants destiny to be its own unique thing as an MMO style game but it really needs to look at what works for other large MMO style games, there are things that just work! Make the grinding more worth it. Right now I can say players who played a long time are leaving, mostly because the time put into the game is not rewarding enough. I personally love the world of destiny but I also feel the game needs some changes for quality of life and game play to keep people playing. This is entirely my opinion.

  • Yeah the game is dying but its dying because bungie pander to concepts such as 'solo players have a harder time hitting cap' 1. Cap means nothing when artefact level exists. 2. If you arent cap now then how? 3. Its gone from having to raid/ do trials for max light level to bungie throwing out 40+ ways per week for people to hit max. 4. Why do so many solo players want to hit max level? You play solo by choice, dont expect a so called mmo to cater to solo players, not that light level means anything these days because everything is so easy. On top of that max level is easier than its ever been and as pointless as its ever been. Nothing in the game requires max light. Deltas end in 1's and 6's The moment bungie stop making the a participation trophy game and actually add difficult content back with meaningful rewards is when it becomes great again.

    • Stasis is the biggest crutch in crucible. They need to balance the rest of it and update the under performing subclasses and supers. Look at blade barrage, all options for voidwalkers, all options for sunbreaker.

      • You and your “friend” seemed to miss the blatant reality of why this game feels so different for veteran players. Bungie sold out hard. They have a fraction if any of the original developers and man power trying to maintain a half dead game purely because it continues to make them money. The player base has proven that despite content being worse and half baked they for the most part will continue playing. Anyone who has been around for awhile knows the best days are well behind us. At this point either be thankful there is anything knew and continue playing this shadow of its former self husk of a game or do yourself a favor and move on with the good times you had.

The best roll by far that I got the entire season was a 69 stat with high recovery and intellect I believe. But guess what? It was an Aeon Swift so I used it as infusion material. I have gotten 4– FOUR!—Aeon Swift gauntlets this season, not once have I gotten other exotic arms or legs excluding the new ones from lost master lost sectors. I am waiting for a good roll on Celestial NightHawk, Lucky Pants, maybe Gemini Gester? But nope. I open an engram from Xur-Aeon Swift. I open exotic engrams from season pass-Aeon Swift and a trash roll knucklehead radar.

            • I just wanna say that one day we're gonna quit for the last time, so is uselles writting on this forum we're no one cares about what you say and your opinion. And for bungie i just wanna think that your work was a complete failure, this failure was begun from ShadowKeep to Beyond Light. I don't either care about sunset weapon, honestly i much care about armor, i cost me more upgrading ad good stats armor that a good weapon with a timer on it. Last thing is that seasons are bad. Have a nice day and a good game in other games.

Eh. I got a decent amount of fun out of it with friends. The build up to the Day 1 raid was pretty sick. After that it just fell off. I can't justify putting in huge amounts of time into this game anymore. Which is fine! I think we've just done this incredibly similar loot grind for so long. It just doesn't feel good anymore when there's not an objective. Why am I grinding power? To go do the raid. Why am I grinding armor stats? To be more powerful to go do... What is this necessary for again? Not much in this game actually requires you to go increase your stats, or your power. Mod builds are neat, but all they do is make easy enemies even easier. Don't feel like complaining on the forums for the rest of the year is going to do anything really. So take a break, play some other games, and maybe stop by next fall. That's what I tend to do.

                • I quit playing a few seasons back for exactly the reasons you mentioned. Very good summary by the way. Now that we know Bungie is working on a new IP it would appear they'll keep the Destiny &**^%show online until 2025 at least. This means they'll be sucking more $$$ from you all that are still playing the same content over and over and over again. This also makes me wonder how they could possibly be working on a new IP when they don't have the talent in-house to give us "NEW" content in Destiny. How is this possible, especially since the new IP looks a lot like Destiny? Seriously, how are those of you that are still playing actually having fun? My buddies and I "USED" to have fun but they've all moved on now as the boredom overtook all of us. Shortly before we all decided it was just too much we'd launch into the game, into the tower, look around for awhile and just log off. Sad Bungie, really sad.

They are "cutting it" plenty that your guns and gear are cut every 3 months now. You just don't see it. You know why? Because you are in "Fantasy Land" baby!!! Where everything you earn is just a mirage! This game is Rated F for "Fantasy!" 😂
1. Single players have to play harder and more than those with large clans.
Please get this statement through your head: "The Pinnacle Cap is only meant for hardcore players." Repeat that to yourself over and over until you understand it. If you are a solo player that is not going to be playing the most difficult endgame content such as Master/Grandmaster Nightfalls/Hunts, there is absolutely no reason to gain the extra 10 levels. You can easily complete all other solo content and the 10 level difference is barely noticeable in PVP. The Pinnacle Cap was specifically designed for hardcore players that constantly play endgame content as a way for them to feel continued level progression with a small bonus specific to endgame content. If you are a solo player trying to grind 1260 Power, you are going to have a bad time. That's like getting frustrated that you can't solo the raid, it is part of the game not designed for the solo player, same is true for the Pinnacle Cap.
2. Where is the lore?
Did you completely ignore all of the dialogue throughout the Born in Darkness quest? Did you take off your headset when getting The Lament? Did you skip all of the cut scenes in the Campaign? Beyond Light has had a decent amount of lore actually in the game, more than most DLCs in Destiny. Also for the first time in awhile, Bungie continued unfinished storylines with the Stranger and Uldren. If you don't think there has been lore this DLC, you are actively trying to avoid it.
3. Europa is a big circle of activities, but so is everything else.
Europa is not only the largest destination in all of Destiny, but it also ranks top 3 in terms of locations with meaningful activities. I'm not going to say patrolling Europa is how I like to spend my day, but I've actually really enjoyed Europa as a location. The Eclipse Zone in particular is a great addition allowing for ability spam. If you haven't done much exploring, there are a number of secrets to uncover, nowhere close to the Dreadnaught (which is hands down the best location to date), but still fun to explore. Not sure why Europa being "a big circle of activities" is a reason to quit, patrol spaces by themselves are not meant to be the core content of the game.
4. Triumphs are getting boring.
I'll agree with you on this one to a point. First of all, whoever was in charge of changing the Triumph system in Beyond Light should be fired. Between removing triumphs from your actively displayed score, rewarding significantly less score for new triumphs, and adding a score to Seasonal Triumphs that have to be grinded out every season, they ruined Triumphs. I do think it is fine to have some grindy triumphs, but it definitely got excessive this season. Also just throwing it out there, if it took you two hours to do two Heroic patrols, you are doing it wrong. I was doing it a couple weeks ago and was able to get one done every 5-8 minutes. Pretty sure they toned this requirement back to 15 patrols, which isn't really all that grindy.
5. Grinding for better stat armor....
Part of the reason you are likely not getting high stat armor is because you are not playing endgame content. I do mostly endgame content and am consistently rewarded with 60+ armor. Sure, not every item is a perfect godroll in terms of stat distribution, but I've easily gotten a full set of pretty good armor on all 3 characters this season alone. On top of that, the season pass gives very good armor each season, so even if most of what you are getting is mediocre, you are guaranteed a great armor set each season. Basic activities will reward basic gear. Harder activities will reward better gear.
6. Some quests are still broken!
Bugs in the game are to be expected, but are extremely annoying. I will give Bungie credit in the fact that testing for bugs while working remotely is difficult, where I think they have done a very poor job is communicating a timeline for fixing these bugs. I completely understand if certain issues take priority such as balancing Stasis in PVP, but you should absolutely communicate when you plan to fix the bugs in the game.

                                • Something I thought about lately was what if guns going forward worked differently. Each season new mods are added and a gun is more of a blank slate we slot shit onto. As you get kills with it or invest mats into it the potency of whatever mods you equip increases in pve at least. Like dragon fly could have a set radius that grows as you use the gun. People could keep their guns and use whatever the -blam!- model they want. Maybe to keep us cycling mods in and out they get reset each year BUT the last 2 seasons get crazier shit like what if on a kill there’s a set chance the target will erupt with stasis energy freezing the targets in the area letting you do with them as you please or perhaps multi kills spawn a super axion bolt that’s like the little orbs that break off a slowva bomb, shit that’s straight overpowered to make things goofier and fun to -blam!- around with idk. The current loot system isn’t exciting and crazier perks might make things more fun. Plus the game isn’t hard and outliers can always be toned back a bit
