TIL: You can mod Minecraft Realms for consoles

So; as a primarily PlayStation user, we got shafted pretty hard with Minecraft for quite a while. When we got Bedrock it didn’t even come with realms or servers, there was actually no feasible difference besides FOV in the game and in some cases it ran worse than the old edition. Almost one year later and we got realms and servers. And being desperate to switch up the experience, I want to mod the game without bricking my hardware. So if you own Bedrock on a Windows 10, IOS device or an Android, you can download files from websites like mcpedl.com which allows you to import them into bedrock on whichever device of the three you’re using. Now realms is account based, not console based which means that if you were to add these mods (AKA resource packs or behaviour packs) to the settings of the realm while on a mobile device or Windows 10, the addons would then translate into the realm entirely which means PS4/5 and Xbox One/SX could use the mods as they were intended to work on a phone or computer so long as they’re in the realm. I managed to install a few new biomes, mobs and around 100 ores from a few different mods as well as some shader mods which didn’t completely translate into PS4 (shadows and dynamic lighting is still absent but the skybox was altered and dust particles in caves are present). So far the server is running perfectly with no problems whatsoever. I believe a version of this trick exists for single player, but it would require your Microsoft account to be on the same game as your PS account (which single player is based off) I’m not sure this is common knowledge or not, but I found it interesting and maybe someone else will.

4b4t.live is a cross platform Minecraft server. You can play it on Java, or your phone if you want.

    • Nice one, I had actually been wondering if this was possible for a while, there were some things I was interested in doing but didn’t want to be forced to use my craptop or iPad.

    • Just another footnote, if you manage to get incompatible or corrupted mods. Try delete them from your storage in settings while on your console. Then import them again on the phone and try again. I’m not sure what causes it but the mods can corrupt pretty easily when you’re starting a world or adding more onto it.
