You don't care anymore it's clearly the problem

I love this game I have loved this game for years now I have spent probably around $400 just for content at this point plus all of my additional spending on silver for the Eververse. It's a tough to watch you let an existing strong IP die on the vine so your company can move forward developing a new IP I think it doesn't get talked about enough the fact that you guys signed a massive contract to develop a new game. I truly think the majority of the problems are that you have moved all of your top talent over to your new IP what you don't realize is that by pissing us all off letting this game die is going to drastically impact the success of your next game. nobody is going to buy the new game if we all are just poisoned by the fact that we invested so heavily into the belief that you care when you so very clearly don't. Season of the hunt consists of 10 minutes of weekly content. That's despicable. That's greedy. Battle passes are successful for true free to play games because one time investment can carry forward over and over again if you complete your battle pass you can buy your next battle pass. I don't know where this games going anymore but I definitely know you as a developer no longer care about this community we're just cash cows to you

  • So true, it's sad but they got our money and they don't care. I hope Marathon fails as hard as Anthem. I don't see anyone supporting their new game if this is how they treat their community.

  • I love your sentiment. It makes perfect sense in the world which I and (seemingly) you live. Unfortunately, that's not the world we live in. In that world, Destiny died the day Luke Smith said his now infamous 'throw money at the screen comment'. He was right of course. Bungie realised they had to do a 'precious little nothing' and people would still lap it up. Anything Destiny 'could have been' died that day. It's just been misleading lies and vidocs since. I'll still enjoy the dlcs (but won't pay the over-inflated price... they go on sale really quick). But how can I care anymore when it's been years if bungie, not putting the consumer- second or third... but way, way, way down on the priority list. Bungie is simply outlandish.

    • Isn’t this almost the same thing as what they did with the Halo ip? They didn’t want to make Halo games anymore. I feel like history is repeating.

The problem is that Bungie doesn’t have to care. Let that sink in for a minute. Bungie has a significant history of releasing less meaningful content and more mediocre and lackluster content. When was the last time that you feel that Bungie even remotely attempted to exceed expectations? When was the last time that Destiny content felt meaningful and exhilarating, rather than just a continuation of the same-old, same-old bland and non-creative BS? You see, none of this is Bungie’s fault. Whose fault is it? Take a look in the mirror. You, me, and the rest of the remaining community have been accepting mediocrity for far to long. Bungie no longer has to work to exceed creative expectations or release exceptional content. The community throws money at the screen without a second thought, just like the beloved director told us we would do. Even after repeatedly being disappointed. Why would Bungie put forth more effort than the bare minimum that the community is willing to accept? Look back at the deterioration of creative content since the beginning. That’s how this business works. Until you, me, and others stop accepting mediocrity from Bungie and stop supporting Destiny, along with its director, absolutely nothing will change for the better. We will continue to get subpar content. Why pay full price for half-assed content when the developer takes its community for granted? In the end, we (the community) get what we deserve. Accept mediocrity, get mediocrity.

    • Why should they have to care? Look at the fanboys around here. Bungie could literally give them Pong, call it Destiny 3 and they would eat it up. There are just too many low expectation gamers that are perfectly happy with a dull mediocre game. Look at the people defending Beyond Light. The recycled expansion that gave us the same thing we have gotten for years. Same enemies, same quests, same bounties, same boring villains, same stomp mechanics, etc. And don't get me started on this terrible progression system we are burdened with every season. I paid $30 for BL and it was not worth it. Already, I feel like leaving the game again. It only took a few weeks. HA ha ha ha.

Look at how successful EA or ActiBlizz still are, regardless of their reputation or prior garbage behavior. People get sucked into the hype machine and just pre-order after watching a fancy trailer. You know how many of those pre-order emblems I saw in-game the day after the Beyond Light pre-orders went live in mid-2020? Tower and most activities were full of them. People don't care. Also, there's no reason to assume Bungo is gonna stay exclusively within the genre of space-FPS games and isn't gonna branch out with their future IPs. Their next games could easily be their very own gacha-game-garbage Genshin Impact thing and/or some mobile game. That's gonna attract quite a different audience than the people currently playing their games and most of those people are not gonna comb through Bungie's history of being super hostile to their customers and fans. Nah, Bungie can and WILL get away with milking Destiny dry and then afterwards drop it like a hot potato if they so choose to. There's nothing stopping them from churning out disposable content until Lightfall, releasing their new IPs and then axing Destiny completely. They'd still be successful, because not even most of the people currently playing their games hold them accountable for their BS. I don't like it but that's just how it is. And then in a few years a new generation of fans (as well as those old Destiny veterans who just never learn) gets to find out yet again how shitty of a corporation Bungie is.

      •
You don't care anymore it's clearly the problem
Um, and what has changed in the last 4 years? and this isn't even a joke. They didn't give a shit the day we found out they literally destroyed Staten's work. The (only reason) we got any decent content between both games was because of key devs that left this company or are now working on the other projects and Activision. As somone said, Bungie does a good job creating a game but they suck at managing one. They literally need a babysitter...

      • Not defending as I hate the direction the game went but here is the sad realization. They have found the magic formula seen in games like CoD or EA sports games. They have people they know will play every expansion, steady supply of whales, a good expectation of f2p players, and have been around long enough to throw nostalgia items to bump numbers. We can quit now and their response would be to release the VoG raid in Season 14-15. Angry players that left would flock back and the game would get an even bigger boost because it will be available f2p. This would also like up with Solstice and the whales and some f2p players will snatch up the $15 a piece armor purchases. People could get mad at the next bad decision but the Fall DLC would be around the corner. They are aware they can do whatever they want and still be highly successful. With the little content seasons have and the amount of bugs, it almost seems like Destiny could be kept afloat by free interns while their paid staff works on Matter. Voice Actors would be the only cost.

      • Taniks has no House. He kneels before no banner, owes allegiance to no Kell. He is a murderer, and very good at what he does. I have been tracking him since Wolves broke their chains, yes? Now Taniks works for Wolf Pack, but not for long

      • I get a genuine kick out of people complaining that Bungie doesn’t give them enough content to fulfill their voracious daily Destiny diet over 3 months... for the price of a sub sandwich.

      • Yes bungie doesn’t care about something that pays their bills. They don’t care about the only IP they currently operate. And just to be clear: Matter is another 3 years away at minimum. Meaning it’s likely still in pre-production and early writing stages, assuming it’s a AAA title and not a mobile game. It’s not a priority. Here’s the reality: Bungie took a month off to spend the holidays with their families, now everyone thinks they gave up on D2. This same shit happens every years. Were you guys not here last year? Is your memory this short? Idk but I very firmly recall at the start of both 2020 and 2019, these same posts were being made. This proves nothing except that you guys are so predictable in your toxicity that it’s comical.

            • 1. The game isn't dying. You're just unhappy with it. 2. The problem that Matter is siphoning off resources from Destiny. Its that games like Destiny are the most expensive kinds of games to make and maintain....and this community demands a level of service that they are not willing to pay for. So this game will NEVER give you a constant flow of new stuff to do...and if you expect that then you are only setting yourself up for perpetual disappointment. 3. Massive Entertainement is only about two thirds the size of Bungie, and they are running two Triple A games (Division 1 and 2) and is currently developing two more (Avatar and an Star Wars game they just announced) Bioware is about the same size as Bungie. They are currently working on two AAA games (recently announced Mass Effect game, and Dragon Age 4) and are overhauling and rebooting a third one (Anthem "Next) Lastly, companies can hire new people and grow. The issue is that Bungie lost access to 400 employees when Activision left...and have had to replace those people and those resources. ...and that takes time.
