So I was watching old Destiny cutscenes and i noticed something in the final cutscene of the TTK campaign. When Eris grabs the thing we used for our swords she says "My Queen I will not fail!" Many people, including myself, assumed it was Mara Sov but could it be Savathun since she's called the witch queen? In the Dark Future lore we find out Eris was actually the witch queen instead of Savathun so it's quite possible they could do a version of that in out time line!

Listen Im not saying this is 100% true. This was just a fun theory I thought about. Ik there's flaws but I still thought this was a neat idea.

4 RepliesNo. Savathun is not controlling Eris. That is stupid. Like the Zavala=Saint14 theory levels of stupid.

Eris Morn was metaphorically mentioned as the Witch Queen by Zavala. Savathun, that thot, is certainly still the witch queen.

2 RepliesAll these plots are relatively new, Banshee being clovis is probably something new, hes been around since Day 1, he was probably gonna have something to do with Clovis but probably wasn’t supposed to be him. Alot has changed since Day 1 D1 so to say this was planned since then is a long shot

1 ReplyEdited by Grays_KS27: 1/10/2021 8:09:47 PMEris was speaking to Mara. Oryx wasn’t dead yet, because this took place prior to the King’s Fall Raid, and Eris was talking about killing Oryx for good. Eris, Mara and Osiris worked together to plan the death of Oryx. There’s plenty of lore of them exchanging messages about it. The final cutscene is a good follow up to the first cutscene, where Mara tells Eris it is all up to her now. Eris saying she won’t fail is a response to Mara saying it’s up to her. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=rAZOVt4K8Tw

No, D2 basically confirms she meant Mara. In beyond light you can read a lore tab that clearly is from her and is written to Mars talking about stasis.

7 RepliesPeople who keep trying to spin Eris as some sort of agent for Savathun are rude.

I believe she’s talking about Mara Sov.

3 RepliesEdited by Accola: 1/11/2021 8:03:03 AMIf you haven't noticed Bungies writers are pretty great at keeping direction. Like if you think of "foreshadowing" you should think of the Bungie writers. These guys have set up a timeline or something and they're keeping to it like I absolutely love that they're dedicated to it so much. You can hear some tiny piece of dialogue and then three years later you're playing the new DLC and you're like "oh wait they said something about that three years ago!" However, she was talking about Mara sov.

Guardian, Archon Of LightArchon Priest Of House Light - old
There was a theory that Savathuun was using Eris to manipulate guardians to Kill Crota and Oryx so she could take the Hive throne But I am pretty sure Eris was working with Mara has part of her plan ,whatever Mara is trying to do we still can’t be sure yet -
No, it actually was in fact Mara Sov. This has been reinforced a multi of times since then Eris doesn't serve savathune

7 Replies<One more person says it was Savathun and I'm going to do illegal things. That being said, Witch Queen literally wasn't planned until Forsaken.>

They will introduce a big bad that we will kill in a handful of story missions. Thats the plot

That cut scene is supposed to be a continuation of the dialogue mara sov has at the start of TTK. They did start hyping savathun back in TTK though. Interestingly if you read the hawkmoon lore tab it seems like Savathun is having a change of heart and might change sides especially considering the darkness and the hive have turned on her for interfering with the pyramid ships plans.

In some other lore, somewhere in the universe, Eris writes a letter to someone saying how see appreciates the Queen, Mara Sov, and how she looks at Eris like a guardian, and not some crazy lady without a ghost. I forget exactly what is said, and who it was too, but I think Eris is loyal to the Awoken Queen

1 ReplyJust like how palpatine coming back was the plan for the sequel trilogy all along?

Edited by Hylebos: 1/10/2021 4:28:55 PMPossibly? It does feel as though one of the Guardians needs to fall to the Darkness's allure at some point, if only to serve as contrast. It feels as though it would be odd for Eris to be that guardian since she's somewhat the obvious choice, she seems more like the tragic character that is going to be continually thrown under the bus and skirt that line but ultimately never cross it because she is meant to suffer. We still don't know the mechanism that sends Elsie Bray from timeline to timeline, it's possible that this mechanism at some point could introduce Witch Queen Eris Morn into our world as well.

That is what the entire plan was about. Eris was tasked with guiding the guardian to kill Oryx. Savathun doesn’t play any role in the main story until D2 when we go to Titan.

It’s possible this route could be taken even if not originally intended. Retcons are a thing and it does play into the grand design theme
