This may be an obvious one but after reading the mask of Bakris lore I was wondering what happens to the human or fallen that becomes the exo. When there mind is "transfered" does it leave the body as a husk or does it make a copy and leave the person alive. If the latter is true then atraks would've basically
sliced her one face off whilst she was still alive
which is rather disturbing but I assume the former is more likely to be true but was just wondering if there's a solid answer anywhere?

1 ReplySo what I've gathered from this thread is that exos are actually clones of a person rather thantheir mind being transfered into exo body. This is actually quite horrifying to me. I always thought that the mind was moved from one body to another rather than being copied. This means that "becoming an exo" is incredibly inaccurate where "being killed and your memories stolen" is a much better description

4 RepliesI was wondering about this myself. Why wouldn't the traveler have the ghosts resurrect the original body, rather than the robot one?

It depends on the type of scan they use during the transfer. The high detail scans destroy the brain and kill you. Knowing Clovis brey, they probably kill your physical body to make sure you dont reveal his secrets or so that there aren't 2 of you.

Atraks-1 killed Atraks-0, but Atraks-0 was comatose and going to die anyways

Edited by Grays_KS27: 1/7/2021 1:54:33 PMIn Clovis’s journal he explains that the brain scan needed to create Exos kills the original body. Clovis attempted to find ways to prevent the original body from dying, but non-lethal brain scans couldn’t copy enough of the mind to make an Exo. But the original body could take the better half of a day to die. The hours are mentioned by Clovis, if I recall correctly he could keep the original alive for up to 22 hours. But the original would probably be in something like a coma. So it’s possible that Atraks’s original body was still alive but unconscious when she ripped her face off.

1 ReplyCan exos be taken? I'm assuming humans can. I don't know how the whole human in another body thing would work.

1 ReplyI believe this is expanded on in the web lore of Clovis’s diary if you would like to read on it. I don’t remember the reason but the copying process kills the human body.

13 RepliesWhat I want to know is if Ana Bray & Elizabeth are sisters how come only Elizabeth has a British accent?

Seeing as how Exos are partly made by Darkness the answer would be: the mind is completely transferred. Space metaphysics and what not.

After trying to use scans that kept the human alive Clovis found that the only way to make a successful transfer of a human mind into an exo body was to complete a deep scan of the humans mind. This would kill the human within a few hours of the scan. It is stated that the human would be left in extreme agony after this scan for the remaining hours they were left alive. In elsie’s case clovis left her sedated so she would not suffer however the other subjects I don’t believe he showed the same compassion

3 RepliesIf I remember the Brian is digitized in a way and then that becomes the basis for everything. There’s some lore about an exo complaining about wanting his mom’s cooking but never having actually had it. Your thoughts and memories are put on a chip essentially. Now why Atraks ripped her face off that may deal with the whisper or vex influence from the exo project.
