Shaders on exotic weapons. Why not? Exotic armor has shaders. There is no valid reason not to have this function.

I would like that since every weapon ornament is not always available for purchase. Would really like to have a different look on my Sweet Buisiness.
-
This won't happen as it would cut into Bungie's profit margins.

You can use shaders on exotic armor. You can use shaders on exotic armor ornaments. You can use shaders on legendary weapons with and without an ornament. Considering that the majority of exotic weapon ornaments changes the physical appearance of the weapon destroys the concept that shaders on exotic weapons will hurt the sales of them. (The exotic weapons that do have just a skin change are lazy and should be more creative)

Bungie be like: best we can do is $7 exotic weapon ornaments.

2 RepliesReason? Money. Why implement a system for free where players can decorate their exotic weapons when they can release ornaments for popular weapons and sell them for cash in the cash shop? Its a tactic that has proven to work and even extends to legendary weapons that they will later sunset and then sell ornaments for the new top tier weapon people are using. Honestly im suprised that the Belove- I mean Adored ornaments aren't Eververse tied. Also find it a bit dumb that the ornament "Unloved, To Be Cherished" from Beloved isn't usable on Adored. (Despite it literally being the same gun with a blanket wrapped around it.) Oh well though, gotta get them stonks.

Yes please!

Please see attached photos to see what sweet business looks like with shaders "equipped"

Edited by AubsTheBelieber: 1/4/2021 2:49:25 AMUnlikely. Shaders on exotics means you can make your exotics look bad ass without ornaments. Why would you buy exotic ornaments if you found shaders that make your exotic look cool already? They need to have this limit, meaning no shaders, so more people see value in exotic ornaments. And this is Bungie we are talking about. Greed over players happiness 110% of the time. A ornament that makes Ace of Spades red and black (which exists) won't be bought if a shader does the same thing to it.

What makes me laugh is that if you preview a shader your primary weapon has it on too. So it can be done with a snap of a finger. It’s a great idea! But I think that the game needs a little work before some QOL stuff is added.

Throwback

I gather that it's too difficult for them, because why else would something so obvious not already be in the game?

1 ReplyFrom what I can tell Bungie may have had the idea originally, if you preview shaders in collections and have a primary exotic like Ace of Spades equipped the shader will apply to it in the menu. I would love to be able to add dreaming spectrum / cast or calus selected to any of my exotic weapons. Mainly just to see how they would look.
