TIps on beating The Pillar of Autumn on Legendary?

I'm gonna attempt it, so I can get the achievement and C.Q.B helmet. I know it's kinda lame, but that one girl from Halo Legends makes it look cool. Any tips on how to beat it? I'm playing it solo by the way. My connection isn't that good, so I can't do matchmaking. Besides, people just lag out or quit in every game. EDIT: Woohoo! Finally beat it. Thanks alot guys. The noob combo really helped in the end, against the ultras. I was all like FFFFFUUUUUU- for about 5 minutes when I saw them, but then I looked back at my computer and I was all like oh yeah. • Plasma pistols kill everything. Even Hunters, if you do it enough. The only real difficult spot is where Holdout takes place, I saved the sniper for the Zealots at the end and just used whatever ammo I could get hands on. Also, weapon juggling. I had a sniper, laser, DMR, needle rifle, and shotgun going all at once toward the Hunters after Boneyard. And in the MAC cannon, go for doubles whenever possible ( Banshee and Phantom in one shot). Don't worry about dying, MAC is a good place to grind Right Of Way (vehicle kills). I got almost 300 vehicle kills on my solo runthrough.

 • 1. Take a deep breath. 2. Press Start. 3. Watch awesome cinematic. 4.1 Move slowly, don't run in screaming and guns blazing, you'll get owned. 4.2 One enemy at a time, slow controlled bursts. 4.3 Plasma based weapons for taking down shields | bullets for craniums. 5. Keep going until you're done kicking Covenant ass. 6. Celebrate.

 • Patience. Needler rifle/DMR/hammer for brutes, Overcharge + headshot for elites, shotgun run and gun (6 shells to the back + melee = kill. Don't miss)for hunters. And patience. A lot of it.

 • Elites: Plasma Pistol + DMR, Magnum, Needle Rifle = success Brutes: Needler or Needle Rifle = success Hunters: Make Emile charge them + Rocket Launcher = success Corvette: wait until prompted to shoot the MAC gun before getting in and subsequently blown up by Banshees/Phantoms Glad to be of assistance.

 • *SPOILERS* The first part is easy drop down from the cliff and run across the bridge w/out shooting. (This is to conserve ammo) Then, ride mongoose all the way drive past the scarabs keep going straight and fall of the cliff, then keep driving. First pic off the skrimishers, then grunts, then use the needle rifle for the brutes. you can jump on the roof of the buildings(just explore a little) and jump on the cliff ahead of you. (You just skipped the wraith) Now use the AR on drones then trade the ar for the needle rifle. Now it gets more challenging. Pick up the plasma pistol plasma the elites then headshot, then pick off the remaining grunts and skrimishers. After this you can just run past the battle without shoooting, then you have to go indoors. Again plasma pistol and headshot elites then pick of grunts. Now you have 2 fight hunters. I didn't tell u 2 use grenades so now grenade the back of 1 hunter. Cocentrate on dis 1. After shootin it a bit it should be dead. Then backtrakck a little and you'll find a shotty. Move counter clockwise and keep shooting its back with the shotty. It should be dead now. Then run out and you have to fight waves of enimies. I cant tell you what to do i ran out of ammo. Just survive and kill. Take yo time, killing them 1 by 1 usin cover. Now go back and kill the elites wit plasma pistol and head shot. Now you should be clear. Kill the engineer in the air when it comes out in the open. Then kill the first engineer using hologram helps. Now do the same with the 2nd elite zealot. Get in the MAC and get out. When the cruiser comes into view and is pretty close, get back in the MAC and shoot it. And then your done. Took me about 2 and a half hours on my playthrough solo legendary good luck hope i helped. *SPOILERS END*

 • Plasma pistol and Needle Rifle are your best friend. There is nothing in this game that can stand against a halfway decent player wielding this holy combo for more than a few seconds. When you get to the hunters, use a plasma grenade to blow off their backpiece, then needle rifle them in the back. Three needles causes a more damaging explosion than rockets. Feel silly about juggling those rockets all the way through the level now, huh? Don't bother with vehicles in most situations. On legendary, they're just rolling deathtraps that should be avoided at all costs. When you get to 'Holdout', you're going to be hurting for ammo after fighting three ultras. Head to the little room with the stairs where you spawn in firefight; there's a shotgun rack in there, and it's the only ammo you'll find save for what your foes drop (mostly spikers and plasma pistols). When the brutes come, you'll be able to lure them into that room one by one. Do it solo. If you're in it for the achievement points, you might as well.

 • Just take your time and make your shots count. I actually planned out my entire run to some degree though. You know how in previous titles people would "flag juggle" because it gave them that oh-so-minor speed boost? I did similar, but with weapons, so I could use them where and when I wanted without being stuck unprepared for a situation. I literally juggled the rockets you get near the beginning all the way to the end where you need to deal with two Hunters. Meanwhile I kept a DMR and Needle Rifle with me for actual combat. In addition to the rockets, I juggled the Grenade Launcher a bit so I could use it throughout the battle that takes place in the area Boneyard is taken from. It helped to take out the Ultra Elites without having to get too close. I also pushed Emile off the cliff at the start of that part and let him fight the Elites while I sat back waiting for headshot opportunities. Actually I let the AI do a lot of the work through the whole mission. If you've played Boneyard you should also know about that catwalk you can use to skip the entire second half of the battlefield and take you right to the building at the rear of the area. Beyond that, it was just a lot of patience and systematically attacking the Covenant so I wouldn't be putting myself at too great a risk. It was my experience that the Plasma Pistol wasn't very useful, any decent amount of distance to keep you safe will usually mean the Elites will just evade or jump to the side. •
Posted by: Dark Tyrax Always use the "noob-combo", the plasma pistol and the DMR. Another good tip is when you are charged with assaulting the anti-air gun emplacement after you acquire a Ghost/Revenant. Just continuously shoot it from afar and it will eventually blow up. it saves you the trouble of going head on with a Wraith and two Hunters.
I'm talking about the Pillar of Autumn mission like it said in the title but uh.. okay.. thanks?...

 • *SPOILERS* On the Gun part where you are shooting the ship, dont jump in the gun until Keyes says "Shoot it now" you only need to put one shot on it. also, just slowly take out each enemy. its worth not dying over and over again. it took me over 2 hours to do it.

 • few tips -when you get to the part where emile is supposed to drive you though all the scarabs, take the spare mongoose (he tells you to drive it, but this part can be way easier if you acctually use it.) do your best to keep a dmr handy (and yes a plasma pistol will do wonders in the final part with the zealots go for the engineer first. then deal with the purple people eaters also Im assuming youre doing this alone, if not just have one guy be the fall guy so you can blindly run in and be safe if you die.

 • Always try to have a plasma pistol and a needle rifle: 3 needle rifle shots on an unshielded brute to kill it, for the shielded opponent just combo them: plasma pistol overcharge and headshot with the needle rifle. Also, the last firefight part will make you want to kill yourself, but be patient and you'll get it :P

 • When you go up the first set of stairs, walk straight then left don't go up the stairs closest to you there's another set of stairs if you keep walking which makes you skip most of the second battle.

 • take your time and use ammo efficiently because I guarantee you'll run out. Also don't rush into things, take it slow when trying to kill that field marshal at the end. Another thing, when you're on the gun at the very end, make sure you shoot the target that's most likely going to shoot at you first, it's like a special sequence. I beat the gun section first try, if you focus, you could too.

 • My tips? Plasma Pistol + PRecision Weapon= WRECKED!! And at the very end, dont get on the big gun until the guy tells you to shoot, if you do, you'll get destroyed in a matter of seconds.
