Destiny for the elite top 10% of players isn’t a Destiny worth playing

When leveling is slow and only the top 10% of players who play 18 hours a day every day reach the hard cap and pinnacle cap. It’s not a Destiny for the rest of us. Levelling used to be easier, as a solo player who was working full time. It used to be that 4 hours a day, at 3 weeks of play. I was able to hit hard cap. Now with the season coming to a close. And not being anywhere close to the hard cap. It’s not a Destiny worth playing. And content being locked behind hard cap and pinnacle cap. Makes it content that cannot be accessed by the majority of the player base. Content that’s challenging, but right now it’s a desperate sweat. Right now the content is too difficult. And even grinding out seasonal content (which would provide powerful rewards ideally) is unaccessible by the average player. As all the seasonal content is set at hard cap. There’s no easing into the content either. And spending majority of my time doing weekly playlists and bounties just to make it to hard cap. It’s really difficult with limited time and being a solo player. The content should be available to all players. Not exclusively to the top ten percent of players. I know maxing out power levels was too fast last year. But now it’s too slow and too difficult. TLDR: Can we please find a middle ground for levelling speed? So that the game doesn’t become a thing for only the sweatiest of players.

  • it is too easy to hit the hard cap. I play 3-4 days a week and it didn't take much to hit the hard cap. Don't care for max light. There's nothing in this game that requires you to be at max light

  • Nah, there’s nothing to do for the top 10%. Games made for the casuals.

  • I have nothing to do. I would agree, the game is garbage outside raids, so their really is no reason to play.

  • Have a newborn and working a full time job, just hit 1260 on all 3 characters this week. Its not that hard or time consuming. Just don't waste time playing 10 strikes on 1 character in a day

So that the game doesn’t become a thing for only the sweatiest of players.
The middle ground is the Powerful Cap of 1250. You do not need to be sweaty in order to hit it easily. Most sweaty players got it done in the first week, easy to do casually within a month. The Pinnacle Cap is meant exclusively for those that play endgame content continuously. The +10 Power Levels are the carrot for them to chase, enough to provide a slight edge in endgame content, but not enough to make the Powerful Cap meaningless. You can play 95% of content at the Powerful Cap and be perfectly fine. The only activities you are missing out on are Master and Grandmaster content, but if you aren't interested in those endgame activities anyway, there is no point. Also, I find it funny how you are calling the "Elite Players" the top 10%. If that is your threshold for an elite player, you must be a Father of 10 children, because there is no way 1 out of 10 players are as sweaty as you think.
The content should be available to all players. Not exclusively to the top ten percent of players.
What content is too hard? Seriously. Master and Grandmaster content are the only activities that have any form of challenge. Even the raid is incredibly easy, one of the easiest we've ever had in Destiny 2. Even if you want to go for Pinnacle drops, there are plenty of ways to get them without stepping foot into a Raid/Dungeon/Nightfall.
As all the seasonal content is set at hard cap.
Straight up false, Wrathborn Hunts are set at 1150 base and go up to 1220. Exo Challenge is 1220. The final campaign mission is 1150. The only activities that are recommended 1250 are Legend+ content, not even the raid is recommended 1250.

        • Lmao u serious RN? This season was BY FAR the easiest to level up! Did you see the day one raid clear numbers?? Many people were raid ready day one 1240 to run raid BTW. Kinda hard to take you seriously when leveling has been an afterthought this season.

        • Luke Smith only wants players like himself to be successful. Remember his exclusive accomplishment in WoW? That is what he turning Destiny into, an elite game for elite players. Just hope they have the cash flow to make Luke’s Fantasyland a reality.

        • I mean it was the easiest it’s ever been to level this season, I was at the hard cap of 1250 after three weeks granted I did play a lot during those early weeks. I personally don’t think it’s worth farming out pinnacle ranks, You can if you want but it’s not necessary

        • As a top 1% player (I have 2 accounts), I agree. Even I have stopped playing since beyond light dropped because the game is simply too tedious & severely lacking in updates & content, on top of its multitude of other problems such as no communication, no support, no loot, deleting have the game, greedy practices with bright dust/silver, etc.

          • Destiny for the elite 10% But you aren't in that 10% so whatever you say isn't from a top 10% perspective. Listen I get it, I am in the elite 1% of sidearm users in PvE so obviously I'm going to use that line. No I don't as it's a joke, although I do love me some sidearms.

I mean the power relevant raid right now, Deep Stone Crypt, is doable at 1240 power. Legend Lost Sectors are also solo-able at 1240 power, but that's assuming the player also has good quality gear. I really don't see how 1240 power is locked away for only "elite" players, when Bungie even went and made the hard cap grind (Leveling to 1250) easier and simpler by adding repeat drops for Ritual activities.

              • https://dungeon.report/xb/Easy2BKilled You are the kind of player of only being able to get Outbreak Perfected and Whisper of the Worm through the load screen exploit. Wow. No wonder you think content is hard, you actually have to play the game to get loot. What a concept!

By week 5 my hunter was 1260. Had not so much luck with my warlock and titan. Warlock just reached 1260 start of this week. Titan still needs a class item. 4 hours a day is probably more than what I play. The issue seems to be on your end and what you choose to do when logging in.

What are you talking about? I'm legitimately confused. Leveling up is EASIER than it's ever been, the season still has a month left, and the only thing "locked" behind a pinnacle cap is the GM nightfall, which gives stuff you can get by other means anyway. There isn't a single thing innately more difficult this season than any previous season. In fact, the best piece of content on offer, Deep Stone Crypt, is the easiest raid ever created (not counting lairs). Even if you want to complain about 1250 level stuff such as the raid and legend lost sectors, those can reasonably be in the high 1230s. All of these problems are not because of the "top 10%". It sounds like you don't want to put any effort in at all.

Normally I can find at least one thing to agree with in a post this long, but there's just so much in here that just ain't true. Only the top 10% hitting the hard cap? False. I'm just about there and I don't even actively pinnacle grind. I haven't grabbed a single pinnacle from strike playlists this season. Seasonal content is at the hard cap? Um. No. Not even close. Leveling too hard or lengthy? Dude. This is the easiest it has been to level in the history of D2. Content too hard? Please. It is endgame content. It is meant to be somewhat difficult. And even then, it isn't hard. DSC might be the easiest raid since Scourge. Master nightfalls are kinda a joke, and GMs are more artificially difficult than anything else.

                  • I've never seen so many pinnacle sources. You do know Destiny is a multi-player game. Meaning you get more by playing with people and making friends. I used to be a solo player, I was shy and nervous around new people. If you want to have fun, you need to find good friends. You will also level up much faster.

Hi, I’m back with a clearer head. I see where your coming from, Destiny centered around the best of the best players while leaving new ones in the dust makes the game unfun for people with jobs, school, etc. But I don’t think that Destiny is favoring old veterans/ top 10% of players, the proof is in the pudding. Let’s take me for an example of play time per week, exp gains, and light level: I’m D2thaGMAN, a Destiny lover, a high school student, and I do most of the chores In the house. Typically I have 4 hours to play for 4 days a week. That totals about 16 hours a week of playtime. That totals about 84 hours of playtime this season. I’m currently at 1268 power level, and my highest piece of gear is 1257. And I’m also season level 86. You should be able to get to max by the end of the season. But why even get max light level anyway, since the highest activity is 1250, and getting beyond that light level makes everything an absolute joke. I don’t think the game is favoring anybody right now, especially veteran players. Before BL was released, veteran players were out of grind outside of chasing meaningless god-rolls. When BL was released, it took away about half the games content, and added very little in return. To add further perspective let me tell you what I thought of BL (since I’m a “veteran”/ top 10% player” : I think thought that BL removed what little content I valued, and added a meaningless story that only served to give stasis. Of course there was the new exotics, which I got fairly quickly. I attempted worlds first with my buddies, but couldn’t get past Atraks-1 (officially my favorite boss in that raid). On top of that, my only safe haven, crucible, was ravaged by stasis, which made it lose what little skill it had left. As it stand currently, the lack of repayable content in the game has affected all players, even more so the veteran/ top 10% of players because we have already done most of the other content, and we subsist off of new content. Not to mention how easy new content has been getting, we also don’t have hard mode raids yet :(. The game doesn’t favor veteran players, in fact I think they have been getting shafted as of late. But I mean anyone that played the game pre BL has noticed lack of content so I’m indifferent. I could see favoring veterans becoming a problem, but there isn’t enough content in the game to favor anybody. If the game gets any easier, it will only serve to make Power level even more useless, and I think adding content that gets gradually harder is the way to go. I hope this less emotionally charged explanation proved my point better than my last comment.
