The Overload Captain is a prime example of why this game continuously get's worse.

My Titan is 1243, somewhere around there. So I decided to do the legendary lost sector. Just as I did with the bunkers once I hit a reasonable level. At first, I figured it would be the same challenge. Pick your way through, use the necessary gear. Chance at loot. Yesterday it was on the EDZ. And I hit the first overload captain. Figured out a good way to freeze him, drop some damage, and proce... Nope. As soon as you drop him to a certain point, he starts teleporting, healing to full health EVERY time. Now, I know, there are ways around this. I know it's supposed to be challenging. And I know when I get enough patience, I'll walk through. But after a couple of minutes yesterday. I just turned off the game. The mechanic is SOOOO irritating, and uninspired that I said, yeah, who cares. Don't need more exotics. Don't care about triumphs. Everything, and I mean everything Bungie has done in the past 6 months has made the game less compelling. Even the parts that are actually fun: Empire Hunts, the Lure thing, seasonal quests... All get bogged down by tedium. By an endless supply of "teleporting overload captain" syndrome. I mean I like the game, but damn, what the hell are they thinking.

  • Bungie loves artificial difficulty; things aren't difficult because they're difficult; they're difficult because this game is broken, intentionally.

  • I personally feel barrier servitors in lost sectors like perditions are even worse than that. They actually: 1) Teleport. 2) Are not allowed to be killed with a sword because they fly all over the place. 3) They teleport and instantly refill life. 4) They give invincibility to nearby enemies. I mean, what the hell, lol.

    • If you're struggling......leave the champions for last then just throw a duskfield grenade on them and kill em with a sword. It's the easiest way to kill them right now. And use an overload scout with explosive rounds.....nothing else works like it should.

Overload Captains are not a clever challenge they are just a nuisance. They're not fun to fight and somehow not challenging to fight at the same time. They either screw your run and force you to restart, or they're nothing, or they never stop bugging forcing you to turn off the game and just forget about getting a chance within a chance within a chance to get the exotic you would like. This content is just for people to waste their time on and not worth it for the majority of players. Don't get baited by Bungie's time traps. Being forced to use exactly 2 strategies just to deal with this champion type, a duskfield grenade and sword or overload scout with explosive rounds, isn't interesting, isn't challenging, it really just isn't anything than another "you must be this tall to do X" thing this new Bungie seems to love to do. It's just one more gate in a world of gating. Become Legend.

    • That’s all they have now, boring activities made extra hard and frustrating. I quit yesterday doing a Europa mission. Baddie just wouldn’t die. Stasis ruined the whole thing as well as invulnerable shield.

    • I farmed one lost sector at your same light level for bakris. Stasis nade with mods and lament or guillotine and captain should be dead without having the chance to react. You just have to be equipped for it. Also, I think challenging lost sectors are a great addition for solo players.

      • You need to learn how to deal with those . The strategy is stun and immediately burst DPS with sword. Alternative stun from distance , stick with anarchy and keep hitting with overload shots or grenades , they impair his healing. Dusk field grenades are amazing for stunning those champions, if you couple that with the surge eater from the artifact you have infinite stunts. You just have to be very strategic. Wait for the teleportation and throw it to the new side as soon as he teleports. Better yet stand him with a weapon and then throw the grenade and go ham with a sword or onsrchy. Of all three Champion types they are the hardest to learn how to deal with. The three concepts you have are stun ned damage and take cover for unstoppable. For barrier and overload sustained burst DPS and prevent heal. in the first season they came out it was extraordinarily hard for me to do with them. Now they go down like little b****** on a Saturday night. You should watch a video by esoterick

I felt the same until I just adapted to stasis duskfield grenades with the two artifact mods surge eater and thermal overload. The grenade will trap the captain while one mod provides the stagger as the other mod recharges your grenade because you staggered. Then move in with your sword (i recommend lamment) and combo to death. You may think, “he’ll teleport out of the grenade you need to be spot on”. I learnt you need to throw it immediately after teleport then it’ll be stuck in a dumb shooting animation. Hope that helps.

              • To my knowledge there’s basically one reliable way to kill those turds. The two class item grenade stagger / return grenade mods. Then run in Lament or Guillotine and swing three times then heavy swing. The hardest thing then becomes hitting them with the grenade. So, I use any grenade you have that will have a bit of tracking on it. Of course it has to be Stasis or Solar, so choose wisely. But yeah, super bummer that Bungie limited that to be the only way to deal with these guys.

              • Stasis nade with the artifact perk works really good. But they do need to adjust them

              • There's a difference between challenge and these horse crap enemies. At least you don't get them instant teleporting and healing to the opposite side of the map.

              • Scouts have better luck with overloads. Dont give up when something is hard. Frustration will keep you limbo.

              • I agree. Yes people are correct that certain grenade / weapon combo works. But it sucks. 4 sub classes but only 2 have grenades that work. Over a dozen weapon types but only 3 work. All this stuff in the game and being forced into a specific subclass and load out sucks. Completely removes player agency.

Auto Rifle: Nawing Hunger Machine Gun: Xenophage or seventh seraph or avalanche depends on my primary And I typically play as warlock, im usually clearing in about at most 10 mins

                • Overloads are particularly frustrating atm because they only have scout and grenade stuns. The teleport spam is never fun, particularly in captains.

                • Unfortunately your problem related not with champions but with light, if u under recommend LL it would be hard to stun champions. Thats all.

                  • I am not a high level activity expert so won't give you super advice on how this challenge work but I would recommend using the Internet to find the best build for this. My first legend lost sector was the hive dump on Cosmodrome when I hit 1248ish. I did it with whitherhoard, pulse rifle and rockets with no specific class build (just nova bomb lock). It was a pain to finish but I did it. It is a challenge so for those who think thisngame lacks challenging content try doing it the wrong way! I then looked up and saw the build and weapons guide for this sector on reddit and other channels. Once you get those things right, it is amazingly simple. Overload and barrier fallen champion teleports (bungies second lame game mechanics after stomp)... so you need weapons on abilities to counter them. Also, cover and heavy hitting weapons with supply of heavy ammo is the key. Seriously, its not too hard. I am not a sherpa but I taught the 'Concealed Void' lost sector to a random from LFG (he was looking for a recovery and I told him not to do that sh1t and taught him the game). Ran him through the mission, showed him spots and tricks and 1 hour later he cleared it on his 1250 lock and got the exotic arms. He was a New Light player so not too bad for him. The only lost sector I hate is the hive one on Cosmodrome because its dull compared to other. I skip it for farming as it is too clusterfu** for my taste. Apart from that I can pretty much say the others are doable. Also, your light level is ok'ish. However, crossing 1250 will make a huge difference as you will have better punch. A lot of content is out there on how to do it on your light level. My builds Primary scout Secondary pulse (burn related) Heavy Xenophage or Two Tailed Fox or Truth or Cluster rockets or Machine Gun with related singe. Builds Heavy weapon (machine gun or rocket) capacity increase and scavenging. Relevant overload and barrier arms for weapons. Grenades for disruption and recharge. Solar or stasis class. This works on most legend lost sectors except the hive dump. Try it out.

                    • But overload duskfield grenades take these guys out so damn easy now by constantly stunning them and with surge mod you get it back instantly, it just seems like your attacking these guys and expecting it to work, its especially not going to work with overload champions, you can occasionally get away with it on barrier champs tho
Yesterday it was on the EDZ
Its the cosmodrome not the edz btw

                    • Hey yo. I'd highly recommend the surge charge and thermal overload mods on the seasonal artifact. Use the dusk bubble stasis grenade. They're symbiotic as eff and work wonders on overload doods.
